  • Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster Review from the Artist Series Signature Strat range. Fender are one of the USA's electric guitar making giants. Our Fender Jeff Beck Strat is in surf green we talk you through the specs and features plus demonstrations.
    The Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster is a signature model designed in collaboration with the legendary English rock guitarist Jeff Beck. This guitar was created to meet Beck's specific needs and demands, as he had outgrown the older designs of the Stratocaster.
    The concept behind this specific instrument was to create a Stratocaster that would be able to handle the full range of Jeff Beck's playing styles, from hard-driving rock to intricate jazz and blues. This required a number of modifications to the classic Stratocaster design.
    One of the unique features of the Jeff Beck Stratocaster is its contoured heel, which allows easier access to the upper frets. This makes it easier for Beck to play his signature high-flying solos. The guitar also features a slightly larger C-shaped neck profile with a satin finish, which provides a comfortable grip and allows for fast and accurate playing.
    Another modification is the dual-coil ceramic Noiseless pickups that provide a powerful and clear sound with reduced hum and noise. This allows Beck to play at high volume without experiencing annoying background hiss and hum.
    The guitar also features a two-point synchronized tremolo system with stainless steel saddles, which provides stable and accurate tuning, even under heavy use. This is especially important for Beck, who frequently uses the tremolo arm to create dramatic pitch bends and dive bombs.
    Other unique features of the Jeff Beck Stratocaster include a LSR roller nut that reduces friction and improves tuning stability, a beveled neck heel for added comfort and reduced hand fatigue, and a custom Thin-Film undercoat finish that enhances the guitar's resonance and sustain.
    Overall, the Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster is a high-quality instrument that reflects Jeff Beck's unique playing style and demands. It is a guitar that is designed to provide exceptional performance and versatility, making it a favorite among guitarists who demand the best.

    Great review, thanks. I've been playing one of these for almost two years - probably around 50 gigs as my main guitar. Would absolutely recommend. Plenty of great sounds, the neck and board suit me perfectly, locking tuners very nice. I find the neck profile very comfortable for string bending. I've floated the bridge with about a tone and a half of pull-back on the G string. I use a lot of vibrato but it holds its tuning well. I managed to punch one ding all the way through the finish to the wood but it was a heavy knock! Also, I was inspired by your use of the bridge pickup and will be giving it much more air time. Cheers.

    Agree with all you said. Mine is a Surf Green 2014. It’s my only Strat at the moment. It’s very well made and is a very stable guitar. The LSR and two point trem stays in tune very constantly. I don’t know about yours, but I can see a bit of wood grain on the body behind the trem plate in good light which indicates to me that the paint finish is not very thick.

      It is although I suspect that the 11k pickups are there to make up for the difference in attack (in comparison with the greater attack and velocity of a pick/plectrum). But yes feel free to play with a pick. There are no rules...

    • @rockhead11
      @rockhead11 Před 3 lety +4

      Jaques Els Honestly I don’t see a $2600 difference. The specs are the same except the $4300 model says “thinner C shape” neck vs “special C shape” neck. both are 9.5 inch radius so they could be exactly the same. The more expensive model has Jeff Beck’s signature on the back of the headstock. The only way to really know would be to play them side by side at a guitar shop. But listening to the $1649 model on a lot of CZcams videos has been enough for me to pre-order one from Sweetwater.
      Just my opinion though. If you do get a chance to compare them, let me know. Good luck!

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  Před 3 lety +2

      I haven't played the custom shop version either but in my experience, you get significant detail and finishing touches when an experienced luthier finished off a guitar. For instance, the fret-wire is even and balanced, the exposed sections of wood (such as the fingerboard) is finished absolutely properly, and is oiled appropriately. Other issues can be amended there and then and not creep through Quality Control. I would guess that such details are a luxury and many might not even notice these. The real test of course would be to blindfold and A/B compare the regular and custom shop versions. I am very happy with my regular Jeff Beck model, and despite initially buying it to sell on, I love it so much that I would never sell it. Jaques, you honestly cannot go wrong in purchasing the JB standard. It works with loads of FX pedals and I love the sound through my Vox AC30. Drop me a line perhaps once you've played in yours and let us know what you think of it and if you are happy with your purchase. Best regards, Dale Harris

    I think Beck uses the Wilkinson nut and I never figured why they didn’t use that one. It’s basically a Strat Plus without the Lace Sensors.

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  Před rokem

      Basic (Fender) business practice is my hunch. The LSR is actually very good anyway so no harm done. Beck has the luxury of using more elite gear anyway, even if there's no operational or sonic difference.

    @clintonblake1436 Před 3 lety

    What's the difference between the nut on the signature model and the one Jeff actually has on his guitar? There is something different about the one on Jeff's guitar in pictures/videos. It's wider.

      @mrc7966 Před 3 lety

      I believe the neck and nut on Jeff's is a 1987 to 1989 Strat' Plus. If you do some research on the early Strat' Plus it was basically developed by Beck, intended to be his signature guitar but delays in confirming lead Fender to brand it the Plus and release it as such. I play an 88 Plus, best Strat' neck I've ever played and the Wilkinson nut is superb.
