Entering Worlds 2022, nobody expected Deft and DRX to make it past the Play-In stage. However, their past record would not keep the determined LCK team from hoping for victory and enjoying themselves along the way. I don't think even a fictional storyline could compare to how insane and emotional this run was. I'll never get tired of reliving the DRX Worlds journey.
If this was a fictional story, people would consider it unbelievable.

they used to do a really cool docuseries leading up to worlds that focused on a few players from each region. i miss that series.

The undisputed best Worlds journey ever. I'm glad that I was able to watch the whole finals from the beginning to the end that day. The moment DRX marched into T1's base and took down the Nexus, I was shocked. At first, my thought was that DRX would have no chance against T1, based on their performance throughout the tournament. But, DRX defied all expectation and played the best League games of their lives. I still remember the moment when I heard CaptainFlowers' quote:" They have been doubted, they have been discounted, they have been dismissed. But D R X are your 2022 World Champions", I had goosebumps all over myself, and then I smiled, because I was happy for Deft, cause finally he got to achieve his dream after such a long time, and for me because I just witnessed history. Truly a lifetime experience. One of the best underdog story in esports.
Honestly, after the 10th baron's theft I kinda went to sleep saying "Yeah, T1 got this", imagine my surprise the next Day going into YT and seeing the most shocking reverse sweep in history. Good League of Legends. 🎉

I did not even think they can make it to worlds from playoffs, they played 5 games in playoffs to secure the last spot. It was wild from the start.
@@notthisnow589 Well DRX won game 2 so no reverse sweep, but the throw in game 5 from T1 was pretty bad. Zeus was just outclassed all series as well, and they kept handing Kingen his priority picks including Aatrox. I'm no coach though, I'm sure they drafted the way they did for a reason, it just looks bad to the average viewer because we don't have that inside info.
I'm here after watching Gods MV. I know nothing about LoL, but Deft's story was inspiring. Congratulations.

롤드컵 선발전 끝자락에서부터 이악물고 기어올라와서 플레이인 치른 유일한 한국팀이 토너먼트에선 롤드컵 디펜딩챔피언 - lck 서머 챔피언 - 롤드컵 최다우승자 까지 차례로 꺾고 우승.. 진짜 인간승리임 ㄹㅇ

“The most important thing is the unbreakable spirit.” Deft’s and DRX’s Worlds 2022 run serves as a reminder that no matter who tough it may seem, anything is truly possible as long as you don’t give up. Truly inspirational.
I have never seen a moment in professional sports that has me teared up every single time I watch it as much as that last DRX march towards the Nexus in game 5. The sheer emotion and the voice-crack from the casters saying "THEY'RE GONNA WIN" is just something you can't even make up in fantasy tales. What DRX did here is in my opinion the greatest feat in esports history and nothing will ever come close to this masterpiece of a run and the masterpiece of the final matchup against the legendary T1. It's only a shame this team didn't get another chance to challenge the title...
And a year later T1 got the Worlds title. Happiest ending possible achieved

But also the way it ended up happening is insane to me. The EDG Nexus tragedy and the T1 Guma Baron steal. It felt like fate tried its hardest to make DRX not win. Most memorable moment of LoL Esports history for me.
That is a beautiful way to put it. Even though fate tried its hardest, DRX denied fate and forged their future with their own hands.
Deft, the player that was one of the greatest from day1 of professional league of legends in Korea. He had to watch as his rival Faker won trophy after trophy.
Even though he was just as talented and consistent as him all he ever felt at worlds was heart break after heart break.
It seemed as if fate was cruel to Deft and he was bound to retire as one of the greatest players to not only have never win worlds, but to never even make it to finals.
After a grueling qualifing bracket and almost not making it to worlds again he along side his DRX teammates went to represent Korea as the 4th LCK seed, in what we all thought would be his final year of his carrer.
They would go on to beat the reigning MSI champs RNG in playoffs.
Then they defeated the reigning worlds champs, EDG.
Then they beat GENG, the team that dominated LCK that summer.
And then they had to face the greatest team in the history of league of legends, T1. Lead by the greatest player in the history of the game, Faker. The man that Deft has always been standing in the shadow of. They were a superteam that looked more dominant than ever.
It looked as if it was fated for Faker to win once again, as if he was the main character of league of legends.
What chances did DRX have ? They might have just been lucky to overperform against EDG and GENG. What were the chances they could do it for a 3rd time ? And against that THIS T1 that had just completed a perfect split going 18-0.
It seemed as if Deft was going to end his carrer in the shadow of Faker.
The match starts. T1 win the first game in a deciding manner.
It seems everyone expectations would be confirmed.
And yet...
DRX win game 2
Maybe they got lucky one more time.
And indeed T1 would go on to win the next game. The score was 2-1 for T1. Faker was 1 game away from being forever immortalized as a 4 time world champion.
Or so we thought as DRX would go on to decisively win game 4 and leave everyone shocked.
Against everything and everyone, DRX have pushed the greatest dynasty in the history of lol to silver scrapes.
Game 5 begins.
In what is possibly the most tense game 5 in the history of worlds after several baron and drake steals from T1. DRX manage to hold on for the Elder Drake fight which they secure. T1 go for one last ditch attempt and double tp into DRX'S base to backdoor but Kingen and Zeka are there to defend and finish them off.
It's over. DRX won, Deft won.
After 9 long years, after playing for 5 different teams, after countless heart breaks...
Deft was a world champion. And he achived it in the most incredible way possible. Leading DRX, which was considered one if the weakest teams coming into worlds, to the greatest worlds run, and greatest underdog story ever
Also dont forget that in the finals, it had been a 100% win rate on blue side for the first 4 games, but DRX won that final game from red side instead, as though they wanted to upset expectations one final time!

그들의 진짜 스토리는 1년전으로 되돌아가야 한다. 주목받고 기대받던 팀에서 감독의 개인적 문제와 최고의 선수들이 모두 떠나갔다.1년전 한국에서 꼴등팀이었고 대부분의 팬들마저 떠나갔지.. 22년 서머시즌에서 좋은 모습을 보이고도 리그 6위였다.. 월즈 진출권의 마지막 끝자리가 drx의 자리였어... 그것마저도 사람들은 놀라워했고 여기서부터 22년의 스토리는 시작되었다..
모든 경기가 언더독이었고 다전제에서 한경기도 빠지지 않고 역전승으로 올라갔어.. 결국 마지막 경기까지도 역전승으로 트로피를 가져갔고
진짜 말그대로 전설이 되었어...
Cap, I love Deft but saying he had talent as Faker early days is one of the most delusional takes.
Not gonna lie i teared up a bit hearing the coach say, I know the pressure weighed on them, so i just told them to go out and have fun. Ill take the responsibility. It shows he understands his players on an absolute personal, emotional, and mental level like no other. He absolutely trusts that his team is and can be the best and puts absolute faith in them and their experience and choices. Deft speaking up and saying bard after seeing the low mobility just shows his knowledge and experience with this game and Beryl is just an absolute ride or die GIGACHAD and was like F it LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!! 1% bard pick and he absolutely ruled the rift on that Champion! Its not just the 4th seed run from the lower bracket that makes this game so legendary its all the feats that the DRX players accomplished and all of the absolute jaw dropping performances they had that definitely makes it one for the record books and really difficult to top.
Yeah I think the craziest part is how perfectly it came together and how much each player stepped up when needed. All players that were dismissed or undervalued, and they just improved and improved each and every time they went on stage. Pyosik getting subbed in after that first group stage loss, zeka playing like 2013 faker in quarters and semis, kingens incredible aatrox performances for the entire final, Beryl's phenomenal heimerdinger and especially the ballsy bard pick in the biggest game of his career, and deft just being an absolute dependable rock the entire way through. You could not have written a more iconic, perfect Cinderella story.

@@MrIng03201 He actually played on Najin Black Sword, but yeah he's much better as a coach. He coached the ROX Tigers and then in NA for a long time with that 2017 TSM team. He's got a pretty legendary track record at this point.

22년DRX의 스토리는 단순히 게임대회의 우승이 아닌 "꺾이지 않고 스스로를 믿으면 결국은 이룬다."라는 메세지가 담긴 인생 그 자체였습니다. 단순한 말이지만 그것은 결코 쉬운 것이 아닙니다. 꿈을 이루지 못하고 전진하지 못하는 사람들은 늘 하루하루가 벅차고 의문투성이입니다. 길어질 수록 그 과정을 견디기가 힘들죠.. 지금은 22년DRX의 우승 스토리를 되짚으며 나도 저렇게 라는 마음과 버팀목이 자리를 잡았습니다. 아무리 감사하다고 말해도 모자를 정도로 크고 든든한 버팀목입니다. 너무 감사드리고 다시 한번 축하드려요.

i never knew anything about LoL until now besides the music but after watching “gods” and finding out the music video was based off of someones story i wanted to understand the music video and that lead me here and let me tell you i was literally tearing up at the end when drx won worlds like this story is crazy and very inspirational

One element which has made this the greatest story in Esports history is that, not only because of the dramatic ending in the Finals but it was also the nearly 10 years in building up the background.
Everything just felt surreal, yet it was truly exceptional.
Definitely the best story, the best Worlds Finals run, the best Finals ever in League's history.
이 시나리오로 영화 만들라고 하면 에이 무슨 말도 안 되는 소리세요 라는 소리를 듣게 될 것만 같았고, 데프트가 울 때는 나도 울었었다. 하지만 마지막 자막이 나를 서글프게 만든다. 모든 E스포츠 팬들에게 감동을 준 스토리지만, 결국 E스포츠판에서 영원한 그룹은 없다는 느낌을 주기에. 구락스 연대기를 볼 때 느꼈던 낭만과 허탈함을 곱씹게 되어서 더욱 더 슬퍼지게 되는건 나뿐만일까
롤판에서 가장 좋아했던 스토리는 구락스 하고 그리핀(씨맥의 잔재임)
지금의 젠지는 구락의 피넛과 그리핀의 초비도란이 함께 하기때문에 응원을 안할수가 없음...
롤e스포츠 역사에서 22년 월즈같은 감동은 다신 없을 것 같다 정말.. 내 인생에 대해서도 돌아보게 되고 동기를 주었고, 경기들도 정말 꽉차고 재밌었다.

I was privileged enough to be there at worlds finals in SF and it was possibly the single best ticket I've ever purchased for anything in my entire life. It's hard to overstate just how intense the arena was, hearing the crowd shift from T1 to DRX and back and forth, the live reaction from the casters and fans on the game 5 baron steal, everything was just amazing. It may be a frustrating, difficult game to play, but my god I have no words to adequately describe how I felt during those finals.
This entire worlds was the most entertaining I've ever watched. Some amazing games throughout but DRX's run was unreal.
having the opportunity to witness this live at the Chase Center is a memory i will never forget, im a huge T1 fan but God the energy and being able to witness history is something that i will always remember.
I wish I could be there like you. That championship is not something you can witness twice in a lifetime.

22월즈는 최고의 월즈였고, DRX의 우승 스토리는 아직까지도 믿기지 않는 전설적 신화다.
"팀"이 갖는 힘 그리고 역경을 이겨낸 "성장"과 "발전"은 꿈을 이루게 해주고 최고의 자리에 앉을 수 있게 해준다는, 교훈적인 스토리이기까지.
다시봐도 전율과 감동이 인다.
나중에 롤이 망하고 가장 기억에 남는 프로팀은 어떤팀이냐고 물었을때 난 22DRX라고 말할듯 베릴때문에 22년도때는 DRX응원중이였는데 그냥 선발전부터 싹 다 챙겨본사람으로써 응원하는입장에서도 말이안됨그냥 진짜 무슨 대진운이 좋았던것도아니고 상대팀마저도
This is not a documentary this is literally like watching a high rated fantasy movie, i think such events will no longer be experienced in worlds history. the best cinderella story ever.
이 스토리는 정말 몇번을 봐도 질리지않는다 ㅋㅋ 흔히 말하는 정배 역배에서 tes전부터 해서 drx가 역배인 경기가 얼마나 많았는데 그걸 다 뚫고 심지어 5꽉 스토리도 저렇게 맛있게 할 수 있나 싶은 정도였음 ㅋㅋ 다전제 명경기가 정말 많지만 edg랑 티원전도 세트별로 스토리가 너무 많고, 특히 edg전 2셋 백도랑 티원전 구마유시 바루스는 역대급 명장면에 넣어도 부족함 없을 정도임

DRX 2022 was the best worlds story. DRX from 6th seed made 10 games b05 with KT and LSB just to qualify as LCK's 4th seed. Smashed playins and playoff stage. Had a crazy quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. They defied the 0.2% chance of winning worlds.

Watching this in real time as it unfolded was something else. I literally couldnt believe and say what you will about the Worlds theme song "Star Walking" but it fits their run to the top.

I think its the best moment in my entire LOL Esports.. Because I predicted them to be in FINALS. (But I am Faker and T1 fan). And I had the mix feeling about T1 and DRX , Watching Finals I was rooting for Faker and T1 and DRX at the same time. . Series was emotional to me. ...I cried for both of the team.
I was super lucky that I got to attend the worlds final in person. I lost my voice cheering and screaming throughout the series. By the end, people were crying and hugging each other
Deft is so inspiring!!! Not only for his unbreakable heart but also for his tenacity, his kindness to teammates younger than him, his commitment to his skills, and his team player mentality. It's easier said than done. He definitely lived out the definition of "unbreakable heart".

i watched this documentary a few months back and loved the underdog story. seeing Keria cry made me feel really bad though. this year around i was actually keeping up with worlds and was thrilled to see T1 win live so the deafeat from 2022 won't sting as much.
This brought back the same feels as when I was watching the matches live. DRX truly defied all odds and gave it their all. I am so proud of this team, and I’m glad to have been with them since the roster announcement of 22DRX and until the very end. These players still have my love and support and I hope to see all, if not most, back again at Worlds 23.

Personally, I was very impressed by the story that DRX Coach Ssong had at a Chinese restaurant in Atlanta with the words(fortune cookie) "your sports team will be very successful this year."

So many incredible stories from one team. Zekka the prodigy midlaner facing off against legends of the game (faker, chovy, scout), Pyosik the questionable jungler who didn't even have a secured starting spot on the team coming into worlds, and Deft the one always in fakers shadow just hoping to get his chance to shine. Well done LoL Esports for putting this masterpiece of a documentary together, this will be remembered forever in league of legends history.!!!

He was not so special before, but he gave the team the key to victory by defeating T1's ZEUS, who showed off his power by showing top-class indicators in the LCK, with his skills in the finals.

That last series was an emotional rollercoaster for sure. And peak League of Legends. DRX defied all expectations and though the players aren't together anymore, I'll never forget what they achieved. ❤
One of my favorite piece of LoL Esports History! I cried when Deft cried on his birthday, I felt so happy for him after that he won the Worlds 2022.
This is both the greatest story at a worlds, and greatest overall worlds. My very close second pick moment is "This is for Kabum!!" of the 2014 worlds. Hearing Deft talk about himself as 2 personas, and treating himself like a machine is heartwarming, endearing, and kind of sad at the same time. After it's all is said and done, out of all the pros that played league of legends, I hope Deft finds happiness in his life after league. He really is such a nice guy.

Seems every time Worlds is in NA, it's always just an insane tournament. Between the games, the fan show out, and just the pure madness. I'm a T1 fan, but I wasn't mad DRX won, just sad that T1 lost. But DRX deserved every second of that victory, and they pulled off the impossible, kudos to them
Such a great watch..and the absolute tearjerker that was watching Deft cry after that reverse sweep on his birthday. This team was special, I loved watching them win. But I didn't realize exactly how resilient they were in doing so.

Hearing SSong talk about the plan in draft for Game 5, with Varus. That was awesome. It had the same feeling as playing tic-tac-toe and you force the opponent to block one of two spaces, but you win with the other
I tear up every time. This run was so insane and the players had so much synergy together. It looked so fun, like found family.

It still blows my mind that they we're able to push through the most devastating start vs EDG and come back all the way to win worlds. Absolutely insane, I honestly don't know how it gets better than that. What an incredible Worlds!

One of the best Worlds I've seen so far! DRX totally broke every expectation of all viewers of this series, and I'm glad that I could presence every single match and moment of this tourney!!! The first play-in team to win a Worlds... They totally deserve it!
The best world final I could see, I felt very sad for T1 and happy for DRX at the same time since I was supporting both of them in their ways. (T1 as a fan and DRX by Deft and the overcoming of his team since they were top 6 and they played everything from the regional finals)
I doubted them every single step of the way. When they beat RNG in play-ins I thought, "surely not EDG". When they beat EDG I thought, "surely not GenG". When they beat GenG I thought, "surely not T1". I have been bested thrice in my beliefs, yet I thought that T1 then looked unbelievably strong that it was impossible, yet something was bugging me that maybe T1 doesn't bring it home. Watching it live and getting proven wrong one last time was surreal. Excuse the corniness, but it felt like Seirin beating Rakuzan made manifest. A modern heroes journey for Deft, redemption for Beryl, and a taste of super stardom for Kingen, Pyosik, and Zeka.

really good docu, hopefully they'll include more on how the teams pick or decide on their drafts, the overall experience of them playing the game (voice comms, idk), and more on how the teams interact in between their games by this year.
this finals was son intense, i was so happy for DRX and at the same time i cried for the young player from t1.

As a long time league player, I watched 2012 (LA), 2014(Korea) Worlds Final in person, but this was by far the best Worlds and story. I would love to just erase my memory and watch it all over again 😅

작년 11월에 결승전을 보고 지금 2023 8월인데도 이 영상 하나로 다시금 그때의 감동이 생생하게 느껴짐 ㅠㅠㅠ 진짜 22년 drx는 낭만이었고 평생 잊지 못할듯
Drx의 팬은 아니지만, 잊을 수 없는 여정이었어요. 작년 8월 입대하기 전 친구와 여행 중 drx가 두 번의 풀세트 접전으로 월즈에 진출했다는걸 소식을 듣고 재밌게 여겼던기억, 훈련소 입소 날 drx가 젠지를 압도하는 모습에 조금 소름돋았던 기억, 훈련소에서 코로나에 걸려 격리 중 drx가 그 t1을 상대로 설마했던 우승을 차지했다는 소식에 혼자 난리를 쳤던 기억이 생생해요. 너무 멋있었습니다. 22drx의 경기가 모두 끝나고 나서야 팬이 돼버린 이상한 상황이 됐습니다ㅋㅋㅋ
가끔 군대 선후임들과 롤을 하면 drx 아트록스 스킨만 쓰며 22drx를 추억하고 있네요
