Bob is 100% correct on her opinions regarding the family member dealing with an addict. I will hit (if lucky) 5 years sober January 30th 2024 and I say if im lucky, because there is no guarantee in life. Anything can take us back out no matter how many years we have under our belt. When people ask why I don't drink, I always respond with "I can drink, my problem is once I start I don't stop. I'm an alcoholic" but to get to this point was a decision I could only make. And this is the same for any person battling addiction. no matter what you do, how many interventions you try, or how many times you force them in to a rehab program, if they have not reached this decision on their own, if they are not ready, be prepared to be disappointed. Its sad that it's like this, and we wish this wasn't the case for us either.
