Matt was already a huge fan of PTX when he was in High School and he met them back stage when he was a HS Senior.
There is an interview with Matt on Peter Barber’s channel (if I remember correctly) and they talk a little about Avi and it was very nice to hear. I think they all have an agreement to not mention each other, publicly.

Right, Peter Barber's interview was 20 minutes or so. Matt mentioned Avi, yup, and that occasion where they met briefly. Sort of passing of the torch. It showed how gentleman both of them are
Um, PTX releases the Christmas albums in October.
Ok, PTX, Mitch came close with their version. No, not the super bowl, but I love their star spangled banner. It's sad that people were so down on them, saying that they weren't really singing because they assumed that Kirstie was going to be singing all of the high notes. They got Mitch slapped but didn't believe it.
Many people say that Ptx’s star spangled banner was 2nd to Whitney. It just wasn’t the Super Bowl. After they sang it, tons of non fans couldn’t believe how good it was. They were immediately trending. The advantage they have over Whitney’s version is that theirs was live. Whitney was lip syncing. Not that she couldn’t do it if she sang it live, I’m guessing it had more to do with the decade when she sang that it was to be lip synced.
D, when you mentioned her version of the "Star Spangled Banner", I had to chuckle. My daughter was born at half time of that game. I'm a huge Whitney fan and made my husband keep tv on until it was finished. Talk about emotional! I heard beautiful music from 2 strong females that evening! ❤ I can't believe it was THIRTY THREE YEARS AGO! Sheesh my daughter's pulling me kicking and screaming into "maturity" 😊😉

I'd say Pentatonix's Star Spangled Banner is among the top versions. It still isn't Whitney, but it's really impressive!

Matt was a Pentatonix’s fan before he became a member so he’s well aware of all the Avi songs. Fyi, because of legal reasons they’re not allowed to mention Avi. Theres no shadyness going on when they don’t talk about him. He also doesn’t talk about them but nobody ever seems to let that bother them. They like to make Ptx out to be these villains that kicked him out. Conveniently forgetting that he chose to leave.
Thank you for stating that. There's been a few commenters who have a bee in their bonnet about Avi and like to think there some awful conspiracy about his leaving, that the group did him wrong or that the group hates him. None of that is true.
I'm pretty sure that contract-wise, neither the group nor Avi is to make statements about each other in public. That just makes sense, legally. And I'm sure that's the case for any music group that splits or loses a member.
Avi has no reason to mention PTX when discussing his music, unless he wants to go back to before his current career, but a lot of times, there is a reason for PTX to mention him, and they don't. I don't know anything about the reasons, but I will say it just feels kinda sad that he seems to not be involved in any of their lives, at least not in public, like the current members are a family and Avi isn't participating. Like I said, just a little sad.
I was lucky enough to get VIP tickets to their Christmas tour and its totally worth it! Highly recommend for fans.

I don’t know exactly what the constraint is, but there is some legal reason that they can’t bring up Avi. Obviously it’s noticeable, but I don’t think it’s the bands fault.
I notice that they always bend over backwards to make sure they make no mention of Avi, no matter what. I don't like it, guess its just me. Like, the second Matt showed up in a video, it was pointed out, but Avi = crickets. And, I don't care what the reason is, I think it stinks and it makes me sad. Like a child of divorce, being forced to choose between parents.
They're legally not allowed to talk about him. Not sure why people try to make something out of it. He left on his own and then later decided to sue them for writing rights. Some songs he didn't even write on but because he was still part of the ptx name at the time he didnt want them to release them. They had to scrap an entire original album they'd been planning on releasing in 2018 and ended up having to throw a cover album together so they could tour the first year with Matt. That's why they did the top pop album. It was never the plan for that tour. Let me ask you this, Do you take issue that Avi also never talks about ptx? It's weird it never goes both ways. Without ptx Avi wouldn't have the career he does today. He owes them for his career as much as they owe him for his part when they started.

@@PtxXtp I have no way of knowing if any of this information is factual. Hope it's true and verified, since it is being shared in a public forum. And, if true, yes, it makes me think less of Avi. Sorry, but that's how I feel. And, I have heard Avi speak of PTX, he did it in an interview in March of 2022 (I believe) where in he basically said that he felt more in line with his fans now than he did with the PTX fans. Guess that isn't quite the same, but somewhat offensive, at least to me.
@ReactionsbyD Just FYI, this is gossip from a supposed insider. However, no proof is ever given except that the original album planned was scrapped. In the industry, with separation clauses, I'm sure there was a lot of wrangling but no proof of sued them.
And by the way, Avi does mention Ptx when asked a question. However, he never speaks about individuals other than Kevin. He has said that he was honored to be in PTX but felt over time that his style of musical writing did not fit into the direction PTX was going.
@@ReactionsbyD Long story short: They couldn’t agree on royalties. Lots of legal stuff going back and forth. A couple dozen original songs were lost in the process. Different stories going around about who wanted what. Now, they don’t talk about, or to, each other. Except for Kevin and Avi. Fortunately they have managed to remain friends.
