Since I visited for the first time I fell in love with this massive city and I definitely stayed here, and I don't know until when I'll go back, it is definitely a beautiful city, immense and with very nice people, its desfortunatelly of the bad experience but I would say now is a very safe city

    Not to say CDMX is the safest city in Mexico, but overall crimes have significantly dropped since 2019 - 60% less now. 2017-2019 were some really dark times for the city in terms of rising crime, so it is a great relief knowing they have declined and the city is safer now.

    I'm so sorry about your horrible earlier experience. When I was a teen, and traveled with my parents to Mexico for the first time, they emphasized not dressing like a tourist. No tennis shoes, no sweatshirts, one pair of jeans, maybe one t-shirt. It has worked so far. I've traveled many places alone and haven't had any problems.
    Too bad you didn't enter la Casa de Azulejos, the National Palace on the Zocalo, the Basilica, or Ideal Bakery. Next time.
    Chapultepec has a long history. It was originally the Aztec emperor's summer home, later Ferdinand and Carlota built the castle. It was invaded by the U.S. (memorialized in the Battle Hymn of the Republic). The large monument with the tall columns at the base is in honor of the boy heroes, military cadets, who defended the castle against the U.S.

    I have been to CDMX three times in the last year and CANNOT WAIT to go back! I love Mexico City...! I love Roma Norte and the Historic District. I hire a driver (Esteban Barrera) when I go. He is AMAZING! He is not only a driver, but will be your translator and will recommend different restaurants / sites / schedules / museums. If you travel one city over to Puebla, he is from Puebla and can show you all the best of everything! I cannot wait to get back there again. I literally feel at peace in CDMX (and specifically at the Basilica of Guadalupe). I could sit there for hours (and literally have sat there for hours) soaking up the ambiance of the place and of course - the tilma!

    I really enjoyed this.
    I am flying solo to Mexico City in 2 weeks. What I learned is traveling as a solo female travel is going to be very different than a group of 4. But, in a city of 21 million, I will fit in. I did NYC as a solo and got pickpocketed in Times Square. I was in London last summer and learned to visit the ATM at 8-9 am, later means I became a target of panhandlers. So that was a good reminder, sorry you got mugged.

      Aunque sea seguro procura tener tus propias seguridades dónde hay multitudes, como cartera adelante y mochila al frente, no toda la gente es buena y honesta. Es mejor exagerar que lamentar te lo digo cómo citadino de CDMX que jamás en la vida me han robado en esta ciudad o asaltado en la calle. Siempre voltear hacia atrás y mirar a los ojos a las personas, los ladrones se ponen nerviosos cuando ya los viste y esto evita que te asalten

    • @briansieve
      @briansieve Před rokem +2

      I spent months and months and months there between 2005 and 2019. I walked around drunk and alone at night in tourist areas, and non- tourist areas. I flagged down random taxis in the middle of the night. I never had a problem. But I'm big and ugly and lived in many big cities, and I grew up in the hood and knew how to carry myself so I don't look like a target. I'm sorry that happened to you. They were probably watching the atm and followed you from there. If folks stick to the busy areas, travel in couples or groups not too late at night, and dress and act like locals who know what they're doing and what they're going it's very unusual to have trouble. Cops are never your friends there or in the US. Try to seem not to see or notice them. And as you said. Try to carry only what can be stolen, and no expensive clothes, and no jewelry.

His dad died when he was baby and he is buried in a cemetery in CDM. It’s one of his dreams to go ( he hasn’t been since he was 5) and be on the only presence of his father since he had memory. This is definitely a list of places to go following this once we have the opportunity. Thank you so much, I love your videos. Love the video and your channel! I’d be curious to hear your experience walking around and vlogging with what I assume is an expensive camera. My husband and I just quit our jobs to run our travel blog full time and want to focus on growing our CZcams channel- but worry about carrying around and using thousands of dollars of gear (given your previous experience in Mexico City!).

    Probably the city my wife and i have visited the most, never have had a problem, but yes it is not the safest city in the world, like any other city just go safe mode, one thing for sure AMAZING CITY TO VISIT!!!

      Si duda eres rico en tu país y aquí lo serás aún más ,comida barata y buena ,la mejor comida es callejera y en restaurantes de ricos ,está hay maso menos su sazón pero el mejor zazon está en restaurantes más humildes y puestos callejeros

    When in Mexico City, always leave large amounts of cash in your hotel's locked safe and every day only take with you into the city streets the amount you think you will need.

  • @erdvilla
    @erdvilla Před 11 měsíci +1

    In case you ever get mugged or victim of any other crime, look for light poles with a Dot sign, they have Panic Buttons that put you in contact with the Central Monitoring Police and they have personal that speaks English, if you do this quickly they can rewind the Cameras to look at the event and fast forward while they follow the perps. With a very high capture rate.
    So it is wise that as you walk you locate these posts in case you ever need them you know where the closest one is.
