  • I have recovered an ancient cobbler awl that I want to use for my leather crafting projects.
The specific name of this shoemaker awl in Italian is "Lesina".
The curved shank was used for shoe making, I will straighten it to suit my needs.
As always I want to keep all the original parts, even if it will require a lot of work.
It is a small tool from another era that deserves to be preserved and I can't wait to use it for leather crafts.
I hope you will appreciate the efforts I have made for this restoration.

A small but very precious tool, which will give me a lot of pleasure in making leather products.
Bringing old tools back to life is always very satisfying. What do you think about it?

I love how you use the same size drill bit with countersink to make the proper dowel. Brilliant. The restoration came out great!!!

Thanks for your enthusiastic comment, I'm glad to hear that. Scratching off the dye with the steel wool gives a result that I really like, it's a simple but very effective technique.

@@Austeration Make some test on your tool handles, you will love the outcome. If you finish it with wood wax it will be spectacular.
