Most of us associate waves with peaceful beach scenes. In fact, many people use the sound of waves to help them go to sleep every night. But sometimes these seemingly innocuous waves grow in stature and become truly dangerous. Today we’re looking at ten massive waves caught on camera.

Here's a toast to you, who did not find this in their recommended. But actually searched for it! 🙌🏽
Thank you tostman!
Thanks
thx!
Thank you
Imma go make some eggs😂💯
Sometimes I love watching garbage CZcams, the cheesy top 10's with a random robotic guys voice
Same
True lol
It is a random robotic voice, the guy pronounces Cap Canaveral "Cap Canavairal" Nazare in Portugal, "nazaari"
@@paulhomsy2751 Robotic as in generic.
Same usually they do more than they say too
The northsea video just gave me such a bad feeling. I had experienced that before. Being in the Navy, years ago this happened and it happened while i was on the bridge when we were hit by one of those waves. It was so unsettling.
I can’t think of many things more exciting and terrifying at the same time as surfing an 80ft wave. 😳
I've had nightmares about it.
A giant wave coming towards me
Man you’re not the only one
@@captaincrunch8345 water is scary. I know what you mean.
I love swimming and water, but an enormous AF wave is beyond terrifying for some reason lol
Ur brave. Thats terrifying
I dunno and I'm not gonna find out because I'm not getting my ass on a little piece of wood and have a hundred million tons of water crashing down on me.
7:32 I'd shit myself if I see something like that coming in my direction. The captain just laughs at it.
Honestly, as long as you don't die, it looks kinda fun! But also I think he was laughing at the sea.
Why would you scared? If you know how to swim?
@@justinlikesme19 I wouldn’t be too scared, but there is NO WAY anyone could swim in that. You would definitely drown even after the first wave.
@@justinlikesme19 If you could find anyone in the world that could swim in that, I'll paypal you $10,000.
@@VitandusEBK then you have to watch all the surfers then
Me in Quarantine : Watching All CZcams Recomended
Me too!!!!
Me in quarantine: Watching all CZcams
Ashiap
Me not in quarantine also watching it. No ideas to do housecores
I remember being in a typhoon while serving aboard the USS Constellation CV-64. Got to watch waves come over the bow. There were aircraft chocked and chained to the deck that would disappear under those waves. The flight deck was 80 feet above the waterline. Very impressive.
*N* *O* *I* *C* *E*
Thats just tremendous, I've never known waves anything like that - I live on the coast of the north sea, and it can get ferocious, but that is levels above anything I can quite make real to my imagination. How did it feel when they struck the hull? Were any sailors or aircraft lost? Thanks for any answers you feel like writing, you've had a very interesting journey there
Yikes.
Cool
I could do without the crappy voice over buzkill
Laird Hamilton surfed the most powerful and dangerous wave in 2000. It wasn’t the biggest, but it was the most powerful and difficult due to the shallow depth and dangerous corral reef.
I think I’ll stick
With the pool...
I agree
Same...
Plot twist: pool is on a cruise ship.
Me: wow, thats a really cool and big wave
My phobia of big waves: Let us introduce ourselves
looks like Mother Nature is still the boss. Heck yeah!!!
Yes, sirrrr

America with its nukes: ye sure about that bud?
@@Wtfdylan Russia has more nukes I think
@@eybrr8928 ok
I grew up at the north sea...and I love the roughness of it. Storms and huge waves are,in fact, effing AWESOME!
Anthem of the Seas is like a cursed ship. It was caught in a hurricane, and a kid almost drowned on it. And it hasn’t been active for very long.
"Excuse me, but how fresh is your lobster?"
Y?
I think he is referring to the fact that some of the clips used were from the perfect storm a true story about a lobster boat that was lost at sea and the boat was never found
Q
Y?
Uhm
When its 4am and 6am you must wake up for work.
Lets see some waves!
- "Most of us associate waves with the movie "Interstellar."
Lol
The cow goes moooo
The captain goes ''GET YOUR ASS BACK TO THE RANGER NOW!!!!!!!!!!"

Hate that movie. That scene gives me angst.
Murph!!! (0__o) ahhhhhhhhh
Good movie👍
Quarantine made me watch this early
Haa
lol
quar basically gave me alot of new knowledges that i didnt know before,my english actually getting better cause of quar too
Lol same!! P.s. to any body reading this have a blessed day!
My first time surfing at north shore Hawaii I found my self in a storm stuck in a current unable to move forward only struggle to stay in the same spot I could feel a downward yet backward pulling pressure on my lower body as I struggled I turn to look behind me to see a wave towering over me in such a fashion I felt like an ant about to be crushed by a boot absolutely terrified I grip onto the surf board assessing my fate and accepting I may die as I am not a strong swimmer and I was in an area populated by many rocks as the wave came down I could feel an eerie dark shadow of coldness over power me then a sudden crushing weight and downward pressure all I could see was blackness and felt my self going down in a vacuum being sucked down yet I could feel the cold water settling as I went further. As the water calmed I slowly felt like I was losing my self as I’d been under the water for many minutes now I slowly floated up weak from the fear when suddenly I began rising at a high rate of speed and finally surfaced I was so exhausted and beaten down I knew i only survived that wave to die not being able to swim. When I finally gained my bearings I realized a man was on the beach with a four wheeler yelling to me it took a moment to actually understand what he was saying and he was yelling SHARK all I could yell was HELP I was mostly on the board absolutely terrified at this point and I watched the most brave person I’ve ever met run straight into the water that he just scolded me to get out of to come save me this man swam straight through the current to my rescue and pulled me in to the shore the entire time I was clinging on to the thought of never going into the ocean again
Bro you need to make a short on this
North Shore is very dangerous, if you were not a strong swimmer you should of never gotten in that water especially in a storm. Also you aren't hearing shit from anyone on the beach while in the swell of North Shore especially during a storm but yeah crazy story i guess.
Was there a shark?
Im always watching on your videos thank you I've learned a lot from all the videos you posted' in love it' 👍👍👍👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
In November 2017, Rodrigo surfed the biggest wave in the world so far, but it was Sebastian Steudtner's wave and his footage in January 2018 that everyone saw and that is considered more impressive.
Question why didn’t the 100 footer count in 2013

Unbelievable power of the sea!!! Great video, i remember the one in Japan, terrible...... a great film if anyone hasn't seen it "The Impossible" with Ewan Mcgreggor about the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami
8:23
The dude that laughted:that s f*cking awsome
Me: BYE I'm going to heaven
nah ur going to hell B) IM JUST KIDDING XD
Me: bring me my brown pants!
Well we can say that these waves can really put you to sleep
Yea, sorry but I've seen waves I think were bigger. When I was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk, I've seen waves crest the flight deck around the horn of Cape Good. Whole stationed on the USS Nitro, we hit a wave that actually pushed the ship backwards, not to mention numerous times waves swallowed the bow right up. Last, when I was stationed on the USS Moinester, I remember the ship getting completely swallowed up by a wave. We just popped back up like a cork. And that was more common than people realize.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Much appreciated 👍🏾
Me before quarantine: I hate history
Me after quarantine: I love history
My brain:*boi*
Thanks, I never want to set foot on a boat ever again.
Why? Just learn how to swim and you’ll survive unlike i. Airplane you had no any option to survive
@@justinlikesme19 but look at ALL of that water and the things live in it?!?😱
This is why my friends can’t convince me to go on a cruise I enjoyed whale watching but there was mega waves and the boat was rocking like side to side
Hey just means I have a room keep not going it really helps
My biggest fear is drowning:/
so u watched posedion?
And I got sea sick 😔
@Retro SEGA and More lol unless you go missing on a cruise ship which is possible 😂
Viking 1: now we will sail the rough north sea to conquer new lands!
Viking 2: yeahhh, i think ima sit this one out. But bring me back something cool, yeah?
Love these waves! They are deadly but beautiful 😍. AWESOME 👏!!!
2:53 , what it feels like when you smack the water in your pool and all that water comes up out the pool.
😎THANK YOU for researching this for us all, so interesting and the surfing clips are UNBELIEVEABLE😎
Great video - thank you for inspiring my to create my own content!
I was in the Navy and stationed in Misawa, Japan in 1980. I was Navy cop and we had a special hotline for "Tsunami" warnings, sometimes we would have earthquake tremors and the phone would start ringing and when I answered it, there was a Japanese man screaming on the other end....."Tsunami, Tsunami x15". Although I don't recall a tidal wave during my time, we certainly had our share of earthquake tremors. Misawa isn't far from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant and I'm sure when the Tsunami struck that area, the Navy was activated to help with the local population and rescue. Crazy times.
Their is nothing scarier than a japanese man screaming tsunami...
POV: It’s 5:30 in the morning and you are down a internet hole
I love how a clip to two from the perfect storm are tossed in
Good watch in quarantine 😃
A moment of silence for all the fish in those nuclear tests.
🙁
Bikini Atoll = Bikini Bottom
I was thinking the same thing.🤭
The fish my ass the islands were inhabited the Americans forced them off their home nuked it left them on a different island then eventually put them back but still left a half assed nuclear cleanup that will soon start leaking into the sea because it was only meant to be temporary.
Hey, look... it's raining fish. How is this possible?
Surfing at 3:11 really looks like he's snowboarding an avalanche 🏂😱😱
Nigga, so true!
Good video! Thank you kindly!
Port Cana-veral Lmao
I literally thought I was the only one that caught this horrendous mispronunciation 😂
2:40 just imagine... for the few seconds that explosion happened in the water; we are witnessing the largest loss of life on the planet in that instant as thousands of fish were likely killed instantly
while I agree with what you're saying I'm pretty sure the Dinosaur extinction meteorite vaporized more life instantly lol
Stupidity of humans eh
Why are waves so satisfying
That Surfer 🏄♀️, now that’s a guy you gotta respect. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. 🥶😳😬😲🤝
"HAHAHA! THAT'S FECKIN AWESOME" is the most Scottish thing I've ever heard lmfao 😂😂😂
wow this is so cool but scary at the same time
I once went to nazare, and saw one monster wave, even bigger than the ones in the videos...probably 70ft or even more, the most terrifying moment of my live, even if I was in a secure zone, it felt like the ocean wanted to get to where I was, and crush me

bad time for him
I tell u its so crazy amazing to see these types of nature happening.
That guy was laughing in the face of death 💀 I would have been shitting my pants if I was in the bridge.
I'll never understand people who stand and watch big waves coming at them where they never think I should get out of here!
Its their job wtf are you saying
What an amazing video dear... !
Ohh Port Canaveral.... Where I live. Love it here. I see all these cruise ships all the time. They are huge but couldn't imagine that.
5:31 this is why I don’t live in cape town anymore 😔
It only happens once in a blue moon, so it's not a regular thing .. I recognised the Sea Point beachfront (in fact it's Rocklands, if you remember where that is). So where did you live in Cape Town and where do you live now?

That’s us Scots for ya. We laugh at shit like that.
Wow!..amazing!
I love surfing these 🌊🏄♂️
Didn't even realize I was this early
@Bigran nah, I saw it in my recommends and notice I was pretty early
@Bigran its cool
Caught on camera? OMG! That must be hard on the camera.
WOW!!! Talk about seasickness!!!
Awesome dude 👏🏾I definitely stay away from the sea
Am I the only one who loves seeing giant waves?
no, you’re not alone. lol
yes. it creeps me out.
Just shows you that mother nature has the last word and not much can be done!
I love the clips from "perfect storm"
great vid
2:27 Excuse me, say what? A what kind of test? A subceqwent test? Did you mean subsequent? Let’s not make up words, now ok?
That cruise ship at 6:57 came as close to a real life Poseidon Adventure as you can get.
V nice u r really amaizing
Imagine Vikings riding waves like that in the North Sea!!! They were brave men!!
Yeah but no but yeah, the northesea isn’t always like that. Most of the times in summer you can cross with a fairly flat sea. But we must agree: some vikings have died there
Brock Lesners Anchestors!
Scariest thing about this video is how the narrator said “port Canaveral”...
I came here looking for these comments.
Damn Skippy. I'm like "ka-NAV-uh-rell," ya braintrust!
He sounds like he’s from the US. How can you screw that up? 😂
Which time? When he said Carnival, or when he said Carnervaral?
Guess he's never watched or listened to a single rocket launch in his entire life.
Exactly my thoughts
Andrea Gail always comes to mind when I think about hurricanes, waves and how relentless mother nature can be
Me: I think I might like to buy a beach house
CZcams recommendations: I think the fuck not.
Cool never been this early
Just fyi the tsunamis you see in movies is nothing like in real life, in fact you won't see a wave at all just a rapid rise of tide.
good to know
Um I pretty sure that a tsunami is an actual wave but moving very fast has lots of force and is caused by a different reason
Tava Rose nope valcanic eruptions landslides or earthquake are the only causes
You could see it as a wave like the movies depending on the specific case. Some areas in Japan during 2011 came as giant waves, like the 60+ ft recorded behind a bridge from someone that didn't even realize it was a tsunami at first until it was close enough to see moving because it was so tall it looked like the ocean out in the horizon.
@@tavarose7303 Did you go to school Lol.
Waves excite me. I should pick up surfing!
The last one about the Royal Caribbean must been a fun ride.
Both surfer wave records were in Nazare in Portugal
