Air New Zealand originated in 1940 as Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL), a company operating
trans-Tasman flights between New Zealand and Australia. TEAL became wholly owned by the New
Zealand Government in 1965, whereupon it was renamed Air New Zealand.
Founded: 26 April 1940 (as TEAL)
Commenced operations: 1 April 1965 (as Air New Zealand)

when are we going to get Jumbo 747-8 or Jumbo A380-800 for New Zealand skies. Air New Zealand should update their Fleet.

Saab 340 was owned by Air Nelson. Air New Zealand took a 50% shareholding in 1988 and 100% ownership in 1995. Air Nelson operated services on provincial routes under the Air New Zealand Link brand.
