Hi everyone! Welcome to my video of the top 10 indie games, and why I'm looking forward to playing so much later this year.
Man, I misread the title. Thought it said "Best of 2022". I started to panic. Between thinking I somehow missed gigantic releases like Nine Sols and having never heard of so many of these titles AT ALL (Skate Story ftw???)... I was shaken to the core... questioning my reality. Then I re-read the title. Hot damn! 2023! Order and sanity restored to my universe! Thank the Lord.

I don't think it's possible for me to be more excited for Silksong! There's so many other indies coming out too! 2023's gonna be a real treat and I'm really looking forward to it! I love seeing these lists too, nice to see you back!

Thank you so much! I decided to take a full year away and look at a few other things. I'm really happy to be back and will continue to focus on indie game discovery with analysis of the "why" along side the "what". I'll no longer be doing press release respins. I have opinions on just about everything :)

Besides the ones you mentioned I hope Crownsworn, Eco Breaker, GUNHEAD and She Dreams Elsewhere gets releases this year.
My most awaited games for this year are Wander Hero, 9 years of shadow, Oxenfree 2 and Berserk Boy so far, hoping to hear more about The Last Faith and Gestalt: Steam and Cinder too. Glad to have you back with the coverage on indie games.
I'm really happy to see the excitement for Dordogne. I've only ever been to france once, but I was lucky to meet Cedric Babouche while there. He's the comic book artist and animator who's leading the project. I have two of his books and they are the ones that got me started learning french just beacuse of how compelling the art was. I hope his first game is a hit

Different type of content. But still a great source of indie game info.
Here's the reason why I love indie gaming, and that's the small team (even down to just 1 person on Stardew Valley case) and the small budget these games usually represents. To succeed they will have to maximize creativity that usually brings about new and exciting gameplay, art design, game mechanics, and any other thing that brings unique experience. I wishlisted Dordogne and a Highland Song because of this video.
Sea of Stars and Dordogne look so beautiful, clearly the devs put so much love in there. Looking forward to play these and most of the other titles

Played the demo of Nine Sols a while back. That game is not for the faint of heart and can be punishingly difficult. I loved it! Also can't wait for Replaced to come out later on this year.
def need a part 2. 2023 is looking full of great titles. Some im looking forward to are The Siege and the Sandfox, A Sister's Journey, Minishoot' Adventures, Replaced, Sons of Valhalla, SESSIONS, JETT: The Far Shore.

I never heard of it before this video but Skate Story immediately grabbed my attention. The graphics and story seem so unique and I definitely feel like picking this up. A lot of other games on this list have peeked my interest too, Silksong being obviously a favorite and a game I’ve been looking forward to for years now.

My 2023 radar amazingly has zero crossover with you lmao. The Plucky Squire, Dungeons of Aether, Botany Manor, Loco Motive, Gunbrella, Paper Trail, Terra Nil, Mika & the Witch's Mountain, Up To Par, Word Factori, Wizard With a Gun and Sokobond Express and that's just the stuff on my list with a listed 2023 release. Did remind me to add Skate Story though and Nine Sols looks really neat. 2023 looking to be so exciting.

Silksong & Sea of Stars are undoubtedly the two games I'm looking forward to most, even ahead of most AAA titles this year.
im surprised that no indie game reviewer ive seen hasn't gone over Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, it was one of my all time favorite games.

2023 is looking to be a really good year for indies! A more obscure one I found is Piratopia: Raiders of Pirate Bay. Multiplayer, pirate-themed, kinda io-style game. Hope they get fully funded on their Kickstarter!

Open Roads and Oxenfree 2 should definitely be on the list, as it's safe to assume they'll be among the best indies of the year. I'd also add Schim and Animal Well, both seem very interesting.

Hellscreen looks absolutely fantastic! I really suck at those games but I cannot get over the aesthetics and the excitement (Returnal being one of my favourite games of all time)
I used to live in Dordogne, so seeing that game brought back so many memories
Came here, to see if these lists has Dredge on it. Crazy how under the radar it was, by far the best 2023 indie game for me this far. It's amazing

I wasn’t excited for silksong because I didn’t like how slow the first hollowknight felt, but now that I’ve seen how the combat looks I’m hopeful
I would suggest keepin an eye open to Enigma of Fear. It got the biggest fundraising campaign in Brazil, being directed by the great storyteller Cellbit (one of the biggest streamers in Brazil).
It is being developed by Dumativa (Songs for a Hero) and is about investigation, mistery and solving puzzles.
Everything looks amazing.

Quite weary of the wait for Silksong at this point, but it's still gonna be a "day 1 purchase, cancel everything in the calendar and crack on" type of situation when it finally drops :D
Yeah, like why has it taken so long anyways? Each year we think it's going to launch; there are rumours, STEAM data release dataminings, etc. But nothing. It feels like vapourware at this point. Hope I'm wrong 'cause the original game was really fun! I liked it more than Metroid Dread.

All these games are lookin super cool! Nine Sols i particularly remember enjoying the demo for.
Not sure if its technically indie, but it is self published, i gotta mention Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 by CyberConnect2.
First game is one of my absolute favorite games of all time and I already know the sequel in May is gonna be my GOTY.
So I have to bring it up considering so many folks apparently arent aware of it.
(And if you decide the studios technically too big for it to count as an indie than thats ok! Just wanted to let folks know about something I love and hope they can get that love from it themselves. Not that I expect "oh i recommended this so you HAVE to feature it either" lol)
First game didnt even make money back and theyre still goin foward with a sequel just cuz theyre passionate about it.
Literally everything about it was so good, great game with lovely art, music, and characters thatll forever stick in my heart and i cant wait to see more of em.
