She's wouldn't become psychotic and try to kill Steven and the Earth.

I think that makes more scense. Cause spinel doesnt seem like a type who could keep a secret, so i like this as an au more.
She probably wouldn’t wanna go with Rose; she’d wanna keep waiting for Pink to come back and also possibly report her sudden appearance in Pink’s garden, which also means that Rose has access to Homeworld’s warp system, not to mention that she’s trying to recruit Homeworld gems
If this is after the fake shattering, Spinel’d have even less reason to wanna go with them. Although in that case she at least would’ve known that there was no reason to keep waiting for someone who was never coming back and probably gone back to Homeworld heartbroken over the loss of her one and only friend (and she still would’ve ended up waiting for 500 years or something?)
If somehow, some way, Rose could successfully convince her to come to Earth, I think her purpose would really bother her. She was supposed to be a friend, but she would be made to feel like she’s abandoning her whole life before that, which isn’t something a friend thinks they should do. Except under extenuating circumstances of course, like finding out that Pink had in fact abandoned her first and there was no reason to keep waiting and holding out for a hope that would never come. Although it would make the defection more justified for her on a personal level, it would also make it all even harder on her. She’d have come to the realization that she was unwanted much sooner and felt like a full-on failure as a friend.
With that in mind, the news of Rose being Pink this whole time would have to be some major salt in that wound to her. She might wonder things like, “Why did she pretend to abandon me and make me go through all of that? Did she not trust me? Did she wanna be friends but just not _best_ friends? Why did she choose them over me? Was I not enough? Was I too much?” etc., or maybe even turning her thoughts against Pink, “What kind of friend does that?” and all the thoughts that may be found down that rabbithole, leading to some major bitterness
On TOP of the fact that she would have to realize that she had been spending the last 5,000-6,000 years with Pink without ever knowing it, knowing that Pink would’ve known the whole time and chose to never say anything, and that she only found out after there was no way she would ever see Pink again (therefore still not ever being able to ask her why)
It would be devastating. She might end up running away and closing herself off for a time. She might have even found a way to run off to Homeworld and tell the diamonds about Steven being Pink in an emotional wreck before they were able to find out at the battle on the beach at Garnet’s wedding, and who knows how things would’ve been different then? The diamonds would have more time to realize how mad they are before confronting Steven, for one, after the initial relief of the news set in about Pink

If spinel were a crystal gem she’d be the comic relief character who everyone gets mildly annoyed with from time to time. But she holds the team together with comfort and comedy in dark times which they will never truly appreciate until she leaves for a couple episodes. But we find out there’s more to her than just being a comic relief character because she actually turns out to have a complex personality and tough past which we will find out in her character arc in the show.

The saddest thing about this to me is that Steven isn’t the slightest bit surprised that his mother abandoned someone for thousands of years because they annoyed her.

Well he acknowledges that his mother was a jerk before getting to Earth. When she got to Earth she made a big change for the better.
Yeah originally at the beginning Steven view his mother as a hero and someone to look up to along with garnet bad to find out that the whole world was nothing but a lie he discovered that his mother has biggest flaws most of the decisions she made didn't really think things through

Actually, Spinel’s presence would completely change Amethyst’s character. Amethyst was really only “most human” because as the movie shows us, she kinda had no real personality until Greg. She molded herself after him. Spinel, as you say, would have definitely totally latched onto Amethyst, hundreds of years before Greg entered the picture. At that point, Amethyst would have been waaaay more like Spinel than the one we know.

Spinel would have probably ended up poofed just like bismuth in order to keep Rose's secret, as the only reason Pearl couldn't say anything is because pearls are made to never be able to disobey a direct order. Spinel I feel would have potentially made it impossible to keep that secret due to her clumsy, playful nature. Not to mention, she was made Specifically to entertain pink and keep her destructive tendencies away from anything important, so I don't think the other diamonds would have ever bought her turning traitor to pink, it's far too suspicious.
Spinel would have definitely consider the entire rebellion as a game at first at would not have taken losing kindly. Considering she was every bit as reckless as pink it would not have ended well, probably even blaming Pearl and garnet for them losing just by proximity.

Pink Diamond abandoning Spinel was actually the lesser of two evils. I’m not saying that I think Pink should have abandoned her, but it was better than letting the other Diamonds know she didn’t want her anymore. The Diamonds believed in functionality and efficiency. Every gem has a purpose. Spinel’s was to play with Pink, and Pink didn’t want to play with her anymore. If Pink told the Diamonds that she no longer wanted Spinel, they would have shattered her since she no longer had anything to offer.

Something to note: Spinel’s rejuvenator was pulled out of her gem in “other friends” so this means 1 of 2 things: A: Spinel has some sort of storage system like pear, or B- Spinel’s rejuvenator is her gem weapon
I'm pretty sure that all gems can store things in their gems? But I might be wrong. I just feel like I remember an episode where one of the gems other than Steven or Pearl took something out other than their weapon.
Spinel’s rejuvenator isn’t her actual weapon, but she did make it her own weapon by putting it into her gem, simply for the purpose for the destruction of earth.

Honestly with this idea, i just imagine a scene where spinel is singing a song about her friends (it would have their names in the song.) During the war. And then after the corruption beam, she would still be the happy little spinel while everyone is annoyed with her...until she sings that same song again....but as she is singing it, it slowly gets sadder and sadder until she breaks down crying asking "why?....why did they have to go away? Why did they have to die?" While the rest of the Crystal Gems (now realizing that spinel took it the hardest) hugging her.

I think this could make the movie, literally INSANE.
Spinel has always been a crystal gem, and people love her at heart, but is always kind of pushed away because of how lighthearted she is. this makes Spinel want to prove that she isn’t just some stupid background character, but that she is as much as a crystal gem as anyone else in the group is. the events in the movie are pretty much the exact same. she gets the injector, at the beginning of the movie she kicks their asses, but her background story is pretty much her always being rejected. she ends up staying on earth with the rest of the crystal gems, and is finally respected. instead of “to finally meet her” (in other friends) it could say “gee, it’s swell to finally BEAT the OTHER GEMS.” this could honestly be soooo cool, and really neat. does anyone else agree?
I've always kind of wondered if the diamonds gave Spinel to Pink after she hurt her first pearl--a playmate that was far more durable. (A pearl is a 2.5 on the Mohs scale and a Spinel is an 8; most quartzes are a 7.) Maybe they had play fights and that's why Spinel managed to be so effective in combat. She had practice with A DIAMOND.

I like the idea of Spinel being friends with Amethyst, picture it: Spinel is a perfect cut while Amethyst is, well... not. There could be an overlapping arc for the two of them realising they are more than their cuts (like Amethyst already did)
Maybe something like Amethyst expressing her insecurities, which puts Spinel on a tight spot because she’s the perfect cut, yet she feels the most ostracised. Spinel gets to spill her feelings, maybe even backstory! (which might make Rose more morally grey/good? More complicated? Idk how you may see it) And they get to become even closer, and Spinel finally gets her best friend, and Amethyst has someone to confide in and vice versa!

If Pink didn't abandon Spinel then the movie's antagonist would have been the The Cluster. And every Gem even Jasper will fight that thing in an Endgame-like battle. And everyone will show off their character development and improved powers and abilities.
That would be a great farewell for Steven Universe without Future.
Don't forget humans like Connie(with Lion) and the Cool Kids(wearing weapons from Rose's armory). Also Lars and the Off Colors as well even Emerald!

I think maybe the movie will be there is like a bad. Villain that steals powers from the gems and even the diamonds and humans will fight them even evil gems like jasper and the cluster came to help too! But the cluster only half of the gems shards

I can see a lot of cute and emotional moments between her and Steven. Example: Finding out Rose is pregnant and figuring out that she's going to lose her best friend.
Spinel: I know, it's sad that I'm going to lose her. But I'm getting a new best friend out of it. Her son. I'll be there for him. As his best friend.
I have a theory. It might not make sense but it does to me. Maybe the Diamonds forced Pink Diamond to get rid of Spinel if she was serious about getting her colony. This could also explain why Pink Pearl was replaced by our Pearl because they were having "too much fun". The Diamonds expressed their surprise at the sight of Spinel because they had not seen her for thousands of years because they told Pink Diamond to forget her and focus on the colony. When Pink finally got her colony, she wanted to show the diamonds that she can do a great job and realizing how serious this mission should be, she didn't see how Spinel could be of any help, furthermore she may have just seen her to be a distraction. Spinel wasn't swapped with our Pearl cause if she was, she would be under White, bur instead she was just there left in the garden.

I think there's a lot of missing points in this discussion. As you mention Bismuth would likely have supplied Spinel with her weapon. How would Spinel feel if her friend had been locked away by her leader who she still looks up to? Assuming she doesn't get locked up as well. I could very well see Rose proofing spinel and hiding her away for the same reason she left her on the garden.

I was thinking that if Spinel was part of the CGs from the start, she definitely wouldn't have taken Rose disappearing to let Steven live happily. She'd be on par with Pearl, although with even more repressing emotions.
My only other idea would've been to introduce her later in the series as a rogue Gem living on Earth on her own, kind of being to Steven what Shadow is to Sonic : eventually being antagonistic in nature, only to realize that Steven is Rose's son, and come around to befriend him, and return to the Crystal Gems.
I want a spin off just called "Ah Spinel" now.
Seeing as Spinel is much more childish, I see Pink's real identity revealed way sooner before Steven was an idea, by accident of course.

She could literally SHATTER the corrupted gems! She's not only extremely powerful, but she can also stretch around corrupted steven, diamond sized garnet, BD, WD, YD, Connie, Pearl, Amethyst, Lion, Greg and the cluster ALL AT ONCE!

@Stephen Blair do you remember the scene in the movie when her hand curled up and punched stevens shield with two simple punches, and literally BROKE the entire injector? that thing looked at least half of blue diamond's size, yet normal sized spinel can use blue's giant FINGER as a monkey bar. she's almost as strong as lapis if lapis were next to the ocean in a battle with her!
In many fan-made Alternate Universes where Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz kept Spinel by her side the whole time, even through out the 1000 Year Gem War, and Spinel being one of the only surviving Crystal Gems, and Spinel being there for Steven as he grew up, one aspect I feel that people seem to be overlooking would be the relationship between Spinel & Pearl,
Canonically they were both assigned to Pink, but in Any AU where Pink/Rose had both Pearl & Spinel stay by her side for the last 6000+ Years, I feel that both Spinel & Pearl would develop stronger feelings for Pink/Rose, then Pearl & Spinel would start to compete against each other for Pink/Rose's attention & affection, soon their competing would later evolve into a rivalry, where both of them would refuse to lose to the other, so they would keep pushing each other past their limitations, constantly improving themselves in order to out do the other, learning new things and never giving up until they proved which one of them was better for Pink/Rose, sometimes even getting a bit too overly competitive, driving each other to the point where they would try to poof each other's form, sometimes Pink/Rose would have to stop their battles before it got out of hand,
I know that such a concept would most likely dramatically alter the story, and it would just be easier to use Spinel as she was Canonically depicted, but I'm sure that adding more to Spinel's overall character in order to make such a thing happen would be possible, I mean if Spinel was there for the Gem War, what with the fact that she was a Childish Entertainer having experienced everything that happens within a massive War, it most likely would have hardened her, made her tougher & grittier, which would effect her psyche & her physical form, like when she wanted to be a ray of sunshine she would take on her Original form(or something similar to that) and whenever she had to act more like a monster she would take on something closer to her Current form, and when she was like in her "Happier" form and started to relive all of her psychological traumas from the War her face would start getting those tear lines under her eyes & she would try to hide her face so no one would have to see her worser side, so a version of Spinel who was more serious & mature due to being a War veteran would be seen as more of a worthy rival to Pearl, making Pearl have a need to become tougher & stronger that she was Canonically within the series,
And if I may get a little crazy here, like after the War instead of learning about Loyalty & swordsmanship from the Midevil Knights, she could have learned it from Asian Samurai, and Spinel also could have learned from the Samurai as well, but with the rise of the Ninjas, Spinel thought that they could have been much cooler to learn from, and even though Pearl detested the under-handed tactics used by Ninjas, she could have also been willing to go through with learning from them if Spinel was also learning from them, and the two would have used their Gem Powers combined with the Ninja Skills to become like "Naruto" Level Ninjas,
Like Pearl could use her Holo-Pearls like Ninja Shadow-Clones, and Spinel could stretch out her fingers & reshape them into full sized replicas of herself, and control them all like a Puppet Master Ninja, Pearl could also use her own Gem's energy to manifest something similar to Sasuke's Chidori, while Spinel could use her own Gem's energy to manifest something similar to Naruto's Rasengan, and Pearl could evolve her Hologram abilities to mimic something similar to Sasuke's Susanoo, while Spinel could stretch out her body & inhale like a vortex(similar to the video game character Kirby) and inflate herself to the point where she would be a Giant that rivaled the Diamonds in size(which could be like the equivalent of Naruto manifesting Kurama around himself), and their Fusion could also grow to giant size & manifest a Pearl Hologram armor that resembles a Samurai's Armor(similar to how Naruto & Sasuke combined to make a Giant Kurama with Susanoo Armor), and whenever they fuse with the other Gems in anyway, these abilities can be used by their Fusions as well,
Unfortunately doing these techniques would also drain their gems of a lot of energy, so if they over exert themselves or take too much damage they could poof, so it basically works as a double-edged sword for them, and if they get too reckless they can cause tons of damage to the area around them, so they could have like a secret battle ground on the Moon, in a location that doesn't face the Earth, where they can duke it out as much as they want without harming anyone, but sometimes they would need a referee just in case,
And(to help avoid any copyright whatevers) like instead of the Naruto Hand Signs, they could use what inspired them, "Kuji-in" or "The Nine Hand Seals", also known as "Kuji-Kiri" or "The Nine Symbolic Cuts", which are supposed to go "Rin" = Strength, "Pyō" = Channel, "Tō/Toh" = Harmony, "Sha" = Healing, "Kai" = Sense of Danger, "Jin" = Reading of thoughts, "Retsu" = Control of space and time, "Zai" = Control of sky and elements, "Zen" = Enlightenment(which was also used in the episode "The Deadly Venom" from the 2012 TMNT series as inspiration for the "Healing Hands" technique), and instead of the Five Elements used in Naruto, they could use the Five Elements of Wu Xing = Wood, Fire, Earth, Water & Metal,
And they could both be the ones who train Connie, not just in how to sword fight, but help make her into a Ninja with her own abilities that rely on using her Human Chi/Ki(they would often argue over what the names of these things are since the Ancient Japanese got a lot of material from the Ancient Chinese), and these abilities would be carried over into Stevonnie as well, combined with Steven's Powers would make Stevonnie an even more powerful fighter,
However Spinel would still prefer to be an Entertainer like she was made for, so in her free time she could be very out going, and do lots of fun things with no only Steven, but several other Humans as well, and like to help financially support Steven she could like get a part-time job as like a Birthday Clown or something where she could bring smiles to children's faces & make them laugh, and like when Era Three happens she could move on to becoming a celebrity superstar, and she could be very popular in Japan or something, but none of this would change the fact that she is still a Crystal Gem & is still willing to fight if she has to, and still has a few things that could remind her of her psychological traumas every now & again, and would still maintain a Healthier rivalry with Pearl,
But That's what I would try with a Steven Universe Crystal Gem Spinel AU, What would You think about Pearl & Spinel being Rivals if the story went in That direction?

I would love to see a fancomic or something about Spinel and her struggles on Earth with her inbuilt desire to laugh off anything bad happening and feeling her own feelings don't matter as long as she makes other happy and how that effects Steven. Growing up he probably loves his 'new best friend' but as he gets older he'd start seeing the toll being happy all the time takes on her and how Spinel needs to learn how to take the time and be sad sometimes and that being sad doesn't mean she's broken or defective. Like Pearl Spinel probably blames herself on some level for Rose going away, because she was supposed to make Rose happy but couldn't.
5:31 Is it dark of me to imagine that Pink/Rose grabbed Pearl and Garnet instead of Spinel and the only reason she survived was because of her elasticity to get under the shield fast enough? Than throughout the rest of the series Spinel was resentful of Pearl because she believes Rose/Pink cared about her more? And one of her arcs would be her learning to forgiving Pearl because it wasn't Pearl's fault that happened.
