Excellent. I go through the same things with trying to get marine colors. The tip about the color isolation is great. I forgot about that one. And premixing the colors of the scene is the way to go.

I like the pre-mixing because it helps to learn to see the real color (even you were surprised) but I know this will be especially challenging in plein air. The whole time you’re mixing the light will be changing the colors. Maybe this is why so many painter paint the same scene. They learn the colors; then perfect the compositions?

I'm an arm chair plein air painting enthusiast and art buyer, so supremely appreciate your time & effort to convey the workings behind getting anything on canvas. Thank you so much.

Hi Chamberlain! to me the water reflect the sky color in the same angle from where you are looking at the water plus the color of whatever is under the water , at shore we can see clearly what is under and less reflection of the sky , it look like it was a grey day with a very neutral purple tint in the sky, that purple reflect in the ocean and the greenish color at shore make it look more red than in reality it is, what I think about the white in the waves at shore is that will be influenced in some areas from the color of the sky and in other from the green at shore. thank you very much for so much dedication to make this amazing videos (sorry about my grammar, my english is no very good looking my friend, lol!)

So interesting watching the mixture of paint colours. Nature has such a variety of colours and tone which go unnoticed. Another great vid, thankyou!

I've gotta get a viewcatcher! Just started a new class at uni called "contemporary approaches to nature". Our first assignment is a plein air piece, I've been watching so many of your vids in preparation, colour mixing is a struggle for me so I'm really looking forward to using some of these techniques in my own work!

What a hauntingly beautiful location. Your painting of it captures so much of it for me. When you slipped at the beginning my heart stopped. I hope you didn’t hurt yourself. You need an apprentice to lug your stuff. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love...Suz What 🌻🌼🌻🌼
