"Why do I keep saying the shade name, they're all Espresso." 😂💕 She's so cute.
The nerve of brands to call a shade espresso when it is nowhere near what espresso beans or coffee look like!!! I have no words!
r u senegalese?
@@mounag8518 I am
Same here I just don’t understand
Why call it espresso if it doesn’t look like espresso
The same reason for shades of beige being called "Ivory", when actual ivory is nearly white...
whoever makes these shades must be color blind tbh
Half of those were not espresso they were straight up orange juice
Jin hit!!!!💜💜
I don’t appreciate how that ad went and attacked me - “ are you really going to sit there and watch hours of make up videos” well actually Cindy I think I am😭😭
Could you mix all the darkest shade foundations together next?
hanasdfg yessss
Yassss
YESSSSS
I was going to comment this one! Like all the darkest shades from Ulta etc!
Yaaas
Take a shot of espresso every time Nyma says “espresso” - and then get literally ALL of the things done on your caffeine high.
I just scrolled down to comment exactly this 😂☕☕☕☕☕
Bet, I'm at Starbucks ready to go.
I just saw this comment as she said it lol
"all the things," including but not limited to cardiac arrest. 😂

That Stila foundation should’ve been named “Cheddar”
Elizabeth Hutt or Donald trump
How... Who did this? It looks like orange paint

@@helenaprout1061 literally just about to say that
I just can’t believe that we’re TWO years deep in Fenty and these brands still haven’t caught up like come on guys what are you doing
Exactly. Fenty is shit and annoying and has a nasty formula so brands should be bringing out better products with the same shade range
プリングルズ缶の中の猫 I- sis what?
@@pumpkinfaerie I don't know if you've heard but fenty's foundation contains a chemical called dimethicone, which can cause cystic acne. Now I'm not saying that the foundation isn't good or anything, but it did cause some people to break out due to the fact that the foundation contains a high concentration of this chemical. It is known for trapping everything underneath it, including bacteria, sebum, and dirt. Oh, and it is also non biodegradable.
Connie I'm new to makeup and have recently switched my foundation to the Fenty one and realized that I'm breaking out after wearing it too and didn't know this was why. Thanks btw
@@Kllyec he's right but also wrong check the back of your conditioner body wash ANYTHING you apply on your body or hair and you will find Dimethicone so if you are going to change your foundation change all your products then because it can affect you. Dimethicone doesnt come off with just water it is non-water soluouble you will have to use a face wash or body wash that contain sls sodium lauereth sulfates too remove it of your body
I love when makeup companies legit create like 27 light shades and like 2 "dark" shades that are literally orange like. Well done. So proud.
Stila know they dead wrong for that pumpkin shade they claiming to be 'espresso' 🤦🏿♀️ it literally overpowered the other 14 shades combined. But you came thru with the magic sis and made it work! You look Gorgeous as always ❤❤❤
Is it just me or is her nose like super cute
Cute as a button. She is adorable.
Always think the same whenever I watch her. Is super cukie
YES i’m a nose enthusiast (i promise it’s not as weird as it sounds..) and nyma’s is by FAR one of my favorites. it’s so cute and fits her face so well :’)
K Miller are you sure that’s not as creepy or weird as it sounds? 😂😬
@@ProfessorSassypants LOL
Some of those named espresso are lies. They don’t deserve the name expresso when it’s clearly more of a cappuccino or latte.
Right? Every time I order an espresso it's damn near black its so dark.
Agree! Foundations named espresso should be so dark that they’re too dark or almost too dark for even Nyma!
Some look more like a caramel mocha...
Arrana Burden same exact thought
Fresh espresso is a LOT lighter than you realize..but I agree, a couple are wayyy lighter than they should be
It's funny how most of the drugstore brands have the darkest shades darker than the darkest shades on high end. Girl, try Revolution Conceal & Define foundation, maybe the F18. :(
Tbh I hate how they name foundations “natural” “nude” “cinnamon” there’s SO MANY versions of someone being “nude” why is “nude” or “natural” always in the lighter side of the spectrum? I wish companies would just use numbers and call it a day lol 😂
Fr! But those companies are extremely racist , now that Rihanna has came out with Fenty , everyone wants to include Darkskin girls in their campaign and make shades catered to us smh 🤦🏾♀️
@@AlatOnDemand dark skin girls are not a trend. ❤️ y’all are gorgeous ❤️
They actually approved naming something Super Halloween orange "espresso" and still call themselves professionals? But they can't stop you! Simply BEAUTIFUL! 😍🤩😎
What bothers me more is the fact that they actually consider literal orange a skin color.
I mean, someone looked at the swatches and said "yeah, this looks good. Should suit many people"
The only things this shade would suit is a pumpkin
I don't get it
What planet do they live on
I tried to find someone actually wearing it and I couldn't

Foundation shade names are always so cringey... my TF shade name is “natural beige” like what does “unnatural beige” look like?
Cara Smith Unnatural beige is my skin tone after a night of drinking wine 😂
Yesss and wtf is up with bisque? Do I look like a soup to you?????
Cara Smith my pet peeve is stuff like “porcelain” because I’m over assuming it’s gonna be #FFFFFF white, but it’s too dark and I’m just??? I’m not even THAT pale and the “fair” shades are too dark smh
@@SeahorseTrash "porcelain" and then the foundation is straight up Miss Piggy pink. Hahahahahahha. Why do the make up companies think people are pink or orange, and not like, you know, natural, real, human skin colors?

Apparently people who name cosmetics don’t drink coffee.
🤷🏾♀️☕️
waterfallsandrain ikr that is not espresso tf
I literally work at a coffee shop and that’s what I was thinking. Like espresso is such a beautiful, deep, dark, brown with a very deep red undertone. Like it’s not that hard to figure out.
Yep. Latte is made with espresso but is not espresso. Urgh...
preach
Right? If you name a foundation shade "espresso", it had better damn well be the darkest shade in the range - and I mean a deep, dark brown that's almost black. Otherwise, don't even bother.
it’s honestly really sad that she has to use an eye shadow for bronzer, and can barely match her foundation shade because makeup brands don’t even think about people dark like her. she’s a beautiful lady who has a hard time enjoying makeup witch she loves because makeup brands don’t include really dark people and make products for people like her.
Jillian Jarvis that is sad I agree
Yeah, someone should make it, if they need help they could always just, you know, ASK her. I’m lucky because I usually have a bronzer shade so I’m really not one to talk about the problems but it seems so messed up
It's so sad.... The makeup brands act like there are no people whith very dark skin... I have the same problem I have a very light skincolour and I can't find any foundation that match to my skin
*Which
exactly my thoughts
Generic foundation lines be like:
ivory, nude, sand, beige, almond, deep, cappuccino, espresso

This stilla foundation is not espresso, it is pumpkin latte...
Paulina Tolińska lol pumpkin spice latte
Oh my gosh. I worked at Starbucks and can confirm several of those shades look like the pumpkin spice latte mix.
As a pale girl who struggles to find foundation that doesn't go orange on me and then seeing that there are companies out here making ORANGE foundation saying that it's a dark skin tone foundation makes me angry and sad. I'm sorry the beauty industry has failed you guys for so long 😭
Righttt and now that Rihanna has brought inclusion now everyone wants to show us love , it’s crazy

@Aphrodisiac Tresspasser and you must hang around ugly ass personalities
Aphrodisiac Tresspasser what a sad soul. Was that jealous comments of yours necessary?
I felt like someone punched my heart when she said she using a "new eyeshadow" for her contour/bronzer.
Anisha Billing Right ??? Each time on trendmood’s page I keep seeing brown girls (sometimes nowhere as dark as nyma) begging brands for deeper bronzers shades. Why do brands seem to purposely not listen ?? This is disgusting and not normal.
And I remember feeling forgotten when juvia’s place didn’t come with highlighter pale enough for me ugh. I can’t even imagine the struggle and I hope brands will finally get it right for 2019 ! Come on L’Oréal, Sephora, LVMH and all these huge companies, you all have the budget for launching an inclusive bronzer shade range :(
Ikr, Nyma is opening doors for more inclusive makeup. I remember her saying a disclaimer for all those people who say quote: "she doesn't need to contour and bronze". Like 🤨😡 wth, if there's one thing most girls share in common is our love to play and experiment with makeup, it is so fun to most of us regardless of color.
As a very pale person I will stop complaining on my lack of options, and start to support inclusiveness.
I felt the same , fricken terrible. Include everyone or none at all.
We are gathered here today to honour and pay tribute to the word espresso. Its usage butchered its meaning until it was an unrecognizable husk of itself. It shall be missed dearly by those who only wanted to find their correct foundation shade. May it find peace in coffee shops and in the hearts of those who remember it in its youth.
You’re the queen of “I’m gonna make it work”. I love it🥰 I love watching your videos! It’s eye opening for those of us who don’t have to fight for acceptance (it’s insane, it’s skin, I can’t believe our ancestors thought there was any difference between us).
I’m on the other side of the spectrum (yes, I know it’s a privilege 😕), BUT - I’m a porcelain and they can’t make shades that are as pale as my skin is. In winter, since we have 3 months that are almost without sun, I get really pale. So when I buy a foundation, It’s always darker than my face, so I get that nice jaw line, I have to really work with it. I have tried the lightest shade in almost every foundation, it’s still too dark 🥳
(I’m not English, I hope I didn’t say anything rude, if so- tell me. It’s difficult to translate my language into yours)
You could maybe mix your closest shade which is slightly darker with a pure white concealer! I know elf, cover fx have one which are cheap but worth that little buck!
Girl I’m looking at your profile and you are not pale at all to are tan.... I am super pale my foundation shade is cool ivory or porcelain girl....
Delaney and Kanon forever friends !! Eh.. You know, that picture was taken with makeup after summer. You should see me now. I use the lightest shade possible, and even that is dark.
Trude still I’m sure the lightest shade isn’t too dark like elf and Jeffree has the like pure white concealers
Delaney and Kanon forever friends !! I know. I use porcelain and mix it with the white from elf. I've tried all the other "lightest shades" from Mac, Dior, Clinique etc etc. The only one that matches is the one that is too expensive to ship to my country (I'm talking about Jeffree Star)😜 all of the lightest shades sold in my country (full of white people) have been too dark, so I mix what I have with elfs white. My neck in particular is really white, but I'm also from the most northern place you can live on this planet (78°N) and we have 3 months of pure starry skies (nighttime. All the time)
So in the winter, I'm a ghost. You've seen me after two months of tanning 😂
I am also a very dark female. And you are correct we have or have had some serious issues with make-up. At one time being extremely dark was taboo, but thankfully we have somewhat surpassed that stigma. Instead of being criticized about my complexion, I am recognized as being a nice looking black female. With my dark complexion sometimes stand out in crowds. You are a very pretty young lady. When I put on just eyeshadow and lipstick and people ask me what foundation have I used, I tell them nothing. I have been black with smooth skin as well. I am a great deal older, but most dark people do not look their age if they have taken care of themselves. Continue the great work😇🤗
Debbie Hill I hate when ppl.even but blk in a compliment just say your nice looking
BUT WHY WAS IT ORANGE 😭😭😭😭
Pretty much all of the shades matched the foam of espresso but you'd think they match or near match the colour of actual espresso
Because orange is the new black 😂

@@Loveyou-ir7il I agree
James Charles would freak if he could only find 15 foundations in the same shade. I hate that poc can’t find foundation matches easily.
Literally all of my foundations are called porcelain or ivory. I’m always the lightest shade (which is still sometimes too dark lol). I feel this shit on a spiritual level
Kris c: same. Like there are people lighter than me and I struggle to find something light enough like come on😂
Same! And they are still not light enough sometimes...
Same for cc and bb cream 😅
But I still feel like it's easier for super light skins to find a foundation that matches than for darker skins.
Yooopy not really. even when I find one that’s light enough, it’s like way too yellow
Same here lol
@@krinchkronch lol I find the opposite and they all tend to be far too pink for my warm toned but extremely pale skin
Espresso is black coffee. It is the color of your hair. NONE of these are remotely espresso! Who names these things?
eustacia03 white ppl
@@Jay-jy9sl thats so racist
LJ Domino it’s not. They don’t deal with range so they don’t know how to accommodate for people with dark skin cause they don’t care. And they suck at naming all shades.
Often people drink espresso with cream so they maybe relate that colour to espresso, however foundation names are stupid af in general. Porcelain is not actually porcelain coloured, ivory isn't close to ivory, espresso is not the colour of espresso. The people naming them pretty much seem to just pull names out of their asses.
Jordan Alaina funny how you think all whites people are like that, I’m not but thanks so much! 😊

This is why I never trust shade names. I always look at the description of the foundation or I need a swatch.
These videos are so fascinating to me. I always have to buy the palest shade a brand offers and hope that it's actually light enough for me, so I can relate at least a little bit. (I know these are not the same issue though. 100% know that and I'll never try to down play the problem of brands offering up a shade match perfect for a pumpkin as "espresso" and calling it a day and a job well done for deep skin tones.) I really wanna know why sooooo many brands have Porcelain and Ivory as their lightest and then Almond and Espresso as their "medium-dark" and "dark". And so many of them suck. WHY do so many of them look straight up orange?? Have they never seen espresso in their life? Or Almonds? Or porcelain or ivory? Someone needs to teach them about colors and naming.
I dont think it's just black women who experience different shades all over your body because girl. I'm like 50 shades of pale over here 😖

Ugh, I love your skin! 😍 absolutely beautiful.
I can not, for the life of me, understand why in the hell any company releases a foundation line without the full shade range. Even if, IF, you are going to release the darker range later, you just look like you don't care that an entire demographic of people have to wait on for. And like you said, at that point these people don't even wanna fw you anymore because you basically said we don't care about you or your business.
I've never had an easier time explaining white privilege than using the beauty industry as an example. I know that it's by far not the only one and I would never minimize the struggles that people of color endure every day so I hope no one thinks that I am. But it's real easy to understand the concept with little explanation when you say that white people can go into any cosmetics section and find a plethora of products to suit them.
I totally agree that companies should make foundation shades for EVERY skin tone, however... About your white privilege.. I am white and still cant find a shade in most foundations loool
It's not just dark shades but also very pale shades that are usually almost non-existent either :/ where is my white privilege now? (in my whole life I never found a western foundation that carried my actual skin color, all of them are usually at least 1-2 shades darker) Honestly I think most companies (or at least they used to) just produce mainly colors that will sell the most, which I guess would be medium / tan shades... That's unfortunately how business works. In the end all that matters to a company is money :/
Well as I said, I do believe that every one deserves to be included but dont pull the white privilege card when certain white people are getting the exact same treatment.
@@nadtrzw7788 there is no way that any company can make shades for EVERY skin tone. While there may not be a shade light enough for you, overall the shades are overwhelmingly light, with slight variations in color and several undertones with a few dark shades thrown in at the end. Of 30 shades 15 will be barely different light shades, 10 maybe medium shades, and 5 dark to deep shades with one super dark shade at the end. You not being able to find a shade that's light enough for you in particular is completely different from a majority of an entire race of people being excluded. White people are well represented in cosmetics regardless of you being able to find an incredibly pale shade with the correct undertone. You can't even pretend to understand the struggle people of color go through. Your rebuttal to my original comment states your ignorance and misunderstanding of the true problem.
It's not about having shades for every tone as much as it's having an appropriate gradient from light to dark. You can make something that's not exactly right work, anyone can do that. But to make it so blatantly obvious that you're not interested in inclusion by releasing a predominantly white foundation line and adding the dark shades later is a dick move regardless. At least your race is adequately represented in every foundation launch, including launches from black owned and targeted brands.
@@ekartak Erikka Kartak well I simply disagree. Lately most foundations literally maybe have 5 light shades, 20 medium shades and again 5 'deep/dark shades'. Obviously some foundation releases lately have been a lot better all together so we are making progress in being exclusive.
All I am saying is that pulling the white privilege card is unneccessary. It's more like a 'fitting the beauty standard of having tan skin' privilege lol I have never seen a foundation with like majority light shades? or maybe our definition of light is just completely different? Especially when it comes to drug store foundations I basically cant find any shade even CLOSE to my skintone.? All I'm saying is in a lot of foundations dark and light tones are excluded/missing almost to the same point. (of course in the past, I will agree that, it was a lot harder for people of color, but ever since Fenty launched obviously a lot of brands have been more inclusive with darker shades)
I'm not going to buy any foundation from a company that doesn't have a good gradient. I'm pale af, but I can usually mix a couple and get something pretty good. But god forbid I find a good concealer...
Take a shot of espresso every time she says espresso
Maria Petrarca i just went into cardiac arrest thinking sbout it 😂
Take a shot of foundation every time she says "Espresso"
I have experienced this, but on the opposite end of the spectrum! All of the "palest" shades are either pink, yellow, or 2-3 shades darker than I am. 😭😭😭 I have to buy straight up white and mix it with the closest neutral shade I can find, and even then I have to doctor things because I have such dry skin, most foundations dry down and make it even more dry. Tbh, I've pretty much given up in my quest. Glad you've found a few you like and thank you for doing this video! You have beautiful skin, by the way. 😊
OMG RIPPPP. But for real, L'Oreal True Match was the same kind of holy grail for me when I started out though for the opposite reason. It was the only one that went light enough without sliding into orange!
