      I just learned that Fritos can be lit like a candle! The doctor said that it is bad to eat them and most people can't stop at just a single Frito! I started to cry because I wanted to add them to the recipes with chili.. I think using a corn chip is less stressful on the digestive system.

    • @pattywilliams788
      @pattywilliams788 Před 2 lety +1

      @@David-ve8pk I’m pretty sure that most chips are probably like that, especially ones made from corn even the ones labeled as “Simply” or non-GMO, etc. Nevertheless, it’s always best to limit your junk food even though they are sooo good! Even if they’re bad for you, sometimes you just gotta have a handful. I know 🤦🏾‍♀️

    It’s not lazy to add frozen vegetables, they actually have more nutrients then canned and just as much as fresh.

    I make a version of the Frito pie one, but my family calls them 'Frito Burrito' I basically just use cans of chili, Fiesta cheese and Fritos and wrap them in a tortilla. I used to work at Knotts Berry Farm out here in California and they used to sell them in our break room.

    Sesame oil definitely gives extra flavor depth, however it can be unsafe to cook things in it that way. It easily catches on fire due to its low smoking point! I think you’re more supposed to use it as a finishing oil at the end.

    My only drawback on the Frito Pie cooked here is that the ground beef wasn't fully cooked before adding the spices and other ingredients. I realize it does cook and boil and get done, however.... and it is probably JUST ME, but I find that the finished product tastes slightly like raw meat. LOL
    My mother in law makes sloppy joes and adds the spice and tomato sauce to the pot while the beef is still pink and I can "taste" the raw meat for some odd reason! I would completely cook the ground beef, and drain the grease a bit more using a couple paper towels, before adding the spice packet... if it were ME! But this dish looks really good!

    I usually drain the bean cans before I add it to the chili. Sometimes the liquid causes "gas" which isn't going to help fill up the car!🤭 But we use 2 kinds of beans. Red and black beans. Then I add onions, red pepper, fresh garlic, roasted tomatoes, tomato paste and then a few spices that I buy in bulk. There is a place on Cape cod that is Truro, MA. Prices are great and they ship free depending on how much you order. My wife and I go there 2 a year and stock up. Vanilla is a great price for a huge bottle. Fritos in the bottom.. 🤓👍
