I used to live near Sox & Martin garage here in central NC. I remember this car running at Piedmont Drag Strip back in those days. Jake King, who was their engine guy, was a friend of my dad's. He used to give my brother an me STP stickers, Plymouth Road Runner and other automotive product stickers. He actually gave me a Wynn Racing Jacket for my 12th birthday! The garage is now a UPS distribution center.

I remember those STP stickers too , when I was young , they would bring the cars to the Burlington Plymouth Dealership for display , my uncle worked there . Richard Petty would also come by & have a car on display sometimes also. My other uncle was a friend of Ronnie's in high school , I still live in Alamance County , Those Local Guys Sure Made Us All Proud Back in the Good old Days .

I heard it live a few times. It was really loud when coming up to the burnout. And of course when doing the burnout. When he came up to stage he would bump it a couple times and it looked like it was leaping. I will never forget!

Now thats a great piece of history. Finding the parts with the original OR USED somewhere on one of the Sox & Martin Cars, takes years. MY AMC Cars Especially the 1971 V8- 401 Javelin took years to Restore. With some upgrades..It's nice to be able to slip around on a clear weekend with Uncapped Headers. Gotta love the History of Racing..

Sox and Martin and Dick Landy were always my favorite cars! But this car has the alternative paint scheme that S and M didn't use in '68 nor '69 and this car has a 1969 taillight/tail panel that S and M never used! They never modified the body to update it, it always had the '68 cosmetics! That '68 Dart is really nice too!

Alway's a big fan of Sox & Martin or anyone who raced Mopar's. That red, white, and blue Barracuda is my favorite.
Many year's ago I was in Sioux Fall's, S.D. at an automobile museum and saw Sox & Martin's lil' Boss '68 340 Barracuda on display. It was parked next to the sixties TV show Batmobile, the Beverly Hillbillies monster truck from the movie, Actor Lee Marvin's '68 Shelby GT500 convertible, two Superbird's, a '70 LS5 Chevelle convertible, original 427 AC Cobra roadster, and an a beautiful '63 R3 Supercharged Avanti. That was a great day. My first love will alway's be Mopar, but all were great in my opinion.

I’m not sure if I will ever find the correct forum to post this. About at least 10 years ago in Chesterfield Virginia was a 1962 Corvette with modified low top doors sitting inside the fence compound with a lot of crap piled on it. It had Sox and Martin painted on the side. Anyone else ever see this car?

Slightly confused, tail lights on this car were not '68 Barracuda tail lights. Those were '67 or '69 Barracuda tail lights. All the Hurst Hemi Barracuda's were 1968 models.

Hey Lou I just watched your other video about the Hemi Coronet 440.
And in this video of yours he said he couldn't find a blue line Tire. Well the Coronet 440 had blue line tires on it. I don't know if you could let the guy know, but maybe it would help him get blue line tires for the Sox & Martin drag car.

The trunk lid and trim/ tail lights on this car are not original IMO.
I saw the real one at a Sox and Martin performance clinic in Lexington Ky in 1968 and I remember a fuel cell in the trunk.
They had the car inside the showroom, and when they rolled it out of the showroom and fired it up to load it back in the trailer it blew the front window out of the dealership .
Back then all the car dealers were downtown so not huge places like they are now.
Showrooms back then held 3 or 4 cars and the main lots held maybe 20 cars total.
I was 16 in 1968 and Sox and Martin were my heros.

Plus it was owned by Ronnie until shortly before his death and the auction. Not calling a fake but maybe a second S&M car here?

This is not the original paint scheme for this car. It did not have blue headlights or blue glass. Also the engine was not blue. It was orange. The trunk is nowhere near correct. It had a fuel cell with fabricated sheet metal around it. The original underside of the trunk was white. Not black! Ronnie signed the white one.
