Houdini Workshop for Beginners is a tutorial series that covers a wide range of topics relevant to people who are just coming to Houdini with little to no experience in the software. We take a project-based approach by building a couch scene that dabbles in many different areas of Houdini to get things started: From basic interface, to procedural modeling, basic cloth simulation, rendering, and building digital assets, this is a great way to explore the tip of the Houdini iceberg!

This is exiting stuff! Thank you so much. I am learning so much and Blender has been uninstalled lol.

This is a fantastic tut. It's clear, it does not go to a strange unexplained wrangle node etc. I love it! But I have a question though: we made the whole couch procedurally tweable afterward.... What is the best way to deal with pillows and the throw? for example, if we make the couch from a 3 seater to a 2 seater, we have to make the throw and the pillow follow the sizing of the couch and the position. Otherwise, the blanket will keep a strange shape... And also, how do we add the material on them, so that it changes depending on the width of the couch?

I think it might be possible to build one or more pillow/blanket setups, cache them to disk and then come up with a way to place/transpose the geometry along with the size of the couch. It might be tricky getting the pivots right but I’m sure it could be done. You could alternatively build a PDG setup to rerun the cloth simulations with reasonable settings and maybe automate that process, but you would sacrifice a decent amount of control over the look as the vellum brush wouldn’t work in that setup.
