BROOKS CAMBIUM C17 SADDLE & HOW MY INJURED BACK HELPED DECIDE

- I'm fed up constantly being a little sore after most rides and have looked at a different kind of bike saddle. Brooks make a non leather saddle called the Cambium range and i'm trying out the Cambium C-17 in an attempt to finally sort out this problem
Back in February 2023 I started the test and here is the verdict 6 months later but in early summer I had an enforced break from cycling which had an interesting effect on assessing the final verdict.

I live in Arizona, I ride the traditional B17 in the summer (110F in July & August) it is my favorite saddle, by far. In the winter I switch to the C17 because we do actually get rain in AZ and I ride in the mountains. I am very happy with the C17 in wet conditions but the B17 is more comfortable, the care for the leather is not difficult and I use the Brook Saddle Wax, probably not as often as I should but the saddle is 10 years old and in really good condition.
You guessed I'd be surprised at the thought of rain in Arizona !! I need to stick with the C17 as we are likely to have rain 365 days a year !! Thanks for watching and contributing with your comment, it is much appreciated 👍
I have had my c17 saddle for 2 years now. The best saddle ever. Comfort is outstanding. 16000 miles on it. Amazing technology. The craftsmanship is next level.
I'm on France end to End and reached the end of day 6 - backside is sore but realised that everyone else's was too so not giving up on it
have you ever had your sit bones measured? did that matter on choosing the c17 vs the 13 158mm?

After looking for reviews i found your channel. Thank you for your initial review and this update. This has convinced me to put this saddle on top of my shortlist.
Thank you so much and I'm glad they have helped. Hopefully you'll stick around and find other things of interest and take a look at my website and blog which I'm about to add to on www.obbcycling.com 👍
Hello Bill,
Good to hear you are 100% sold on the Cambium saddle... it's nice when you find a make and model you are happy with.
Take care.
Paul,,
Cheers Paul, it took a while but eventually got there 👍
Happy for you! Good luck with the recovery!
Cheers ! Had Spine Surgery at end of October so still recovering !
Super helpful information, thank you! I’m adding a C17 to my shopping list for all of the reasons you mentioned here.
Glad it was helpful and I hope it works for you 😁👍
I choosed this saddle on my gravel bike, approx 1 year ago. I cursed it many times, tried a prologo and even a leather Brooks. Which i get rid off and let this C17 a good go, now after 2500+ km it's a joy to use :)))
It's so hard I felt it shouldn't work but it does !
Thank you for the review. Best wishes for your continued recovery. I have a Brooks Flyer Special leather saddle on my city/commuter bike (excellent upright position saddle). However, I need to replace the ISM split-front saddle on my Felt road bike.... (leather cover cracking/peeling after many years). I enjoyed your informative review. Until 2015, I would road ride in the Los Angeles coastal and canyon areas. Also, the Solvang Century each year, further north. Now I live in Napa Valley (wine country), not bike commuting and much less road riding. I think this Carved Cambium C17 would be good choice for me. The price is reasonable and I have trusted Brooks for years. Thanks again... Ride safe, enjoy the ride.
Thank you for your kind comments and I hope the saddle suits you. You're certainly in great cycling country by the sound of it 😁👍
Very helpful thankyou. Just got a bike with c17 and so far so good on comfort but need some long rides to confirm. My regular bike has b17 with the springs which really helps iron out the bumps but took me 1000 miles to adjust and settle in.
Thanks for watching and I hope it proves to be the right one for you 😁🚴♂
Nice for you😊
It was an unexpected gift 😁
Thank you for this review. I will try this next
I hope it works for you 😁
Well just ordered a b15 swallow and an H2 anatomicasella just to see which one works better. Got them both off Amazon so can return both in 30 days so I'm going to give it a try
Ordered a c17 carved also. Need to fix this saddle pain nonsense. Got a road bike lynskey helix. Just need to be able to get through 50 without my butt on fire
@@keizersoze907 I feel your pain. I was fortunate to have an enforced lay off which meant I wasn't feeling sore from previous rides
Keep it up Bill
Cheers Baz, getting better by the day mate 👍
I completed the cingles de mont ventoux last year on my gravel bike with a c17and had no issues at all. I think when you forget about your backside it means you've got the right saddle
That’s very impressive , I went up from Malaucene in October and once was enough !! My backside was a bit sore but only because we had cycled 10 consecutive days to get there !
i also own a brooks c 17 ,it works for me ,, 73 year old cyclist
Excellent !! I now have one on both my bikes 👍🚴♂️
How did your 14 days across France go with this saddle? Hope it went well. Are you still a C17 fan? Do you still ride with that same saddle?
It was great - a bit sore near the end but everyone was to be fair . I bought a 2nd C17 for my other bike so I’m settled on it 😁👍
