- At first, I was going to hold off because of the past few disappointing postseasons for the Bruins. But I am GLAD I went to this game. The Boston Bruins open up the 2024 NHL Playoffs with a massive win against the rival Toronto Maple Leafs! It was a physical game throughout, but with 2 goals from Jake Debrusk, and a huge performance from Jeremy Swayman, the Boston Bruins pulled off a blowout win against the Maple Leafs to give them a 1-0 series lead! Jake DeBrusk was THE MAN tonight with 2 goals and 1 assist while Jeremy Swayman recorded 35 saves and only allowed 1 goal to David Kampf of the Maple Leafs. John Beecher got his 1st career postseason goal (WE LOVE TO SEE IT, BEECH), and then Brandon Carlo gets his 1st in this playoffs, and finally Trent Frederic sealed the winning deal with the empty net goal to go along with it.
And plus, at 16:03 in the vlog, that big hit by Pat Maroon, sending #37 Timothy Liljegren of the Leafs to the Bruins bench, was WICKED INSANE IMO. The BIG RIG really sent Liljegren packin' right there.
That's how to slam the door on Toronto BIG TIME to kickoff our playoff run! GIMME DEBRUSK OVER BARZAL, as your friend Mike would say.
We did a great job kicking off this first round series the right way, and now, it's onto game 2 on Monday! 1 W down, 15 to go!

I love the on-ice projection that our Bruins brought back for the first time since the 2011 Stanley Cup Final along with the B's fans passing around the Bruins Centennial flag as well 🐻💛🖤🏒. This definitely is awesome for our 100th anniversary season, no doubt. I still wish they kept the LED railing lights around the Garden though.
