    What layer height were you using? And how is your experience with he quality coming off this machine, im considering buying to a better printer instead of constantly upgrading my anycubic i3.

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Nice observation! For the assembly shots, I did use a small softbox. But yeah, overall...the lines are very minimal in appearance! The print quality on this printer is very good. I have had tremendous results with mostly the default settings in BambuStudio. I have printed everything at the 0.2 mm layer height. I've printed lots of stuff since I have had the printer and I have no complaints!! I use the PEI textured plate and never use anything on the plate other than a quick isopropyl alcohol clean between prints.

    Did you get your time lapses with the built-in camera in the bamboo labs X1 carbon? Cause I’m looking to buy me one in the next couple of weeks and most of the time lapse as I seen were really just a sped up video you could see the print head moving all around and I really like the cleanliness of, how yours came out I’m hoping I can use the built-in camera to get time lapses like this

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yes, this was from the built-in camera. There are 2 timelapse settings. The "traditional" timelapse is what you are talking about. What I did here was choose the "smooth" timelapse. It moves the head to the back corner after every layer and takes a photo at that point. That way the head isn't in the way. It does make your overall print time a little longer, but it looks cool! :)

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  Před 7 měsíci +1

      This particular file isn't designed to be printed in one piece or else I could have. The "paint color" runs all the way down inside the "can" so if I were to print this in one piece with multiple colors...it would take a LOT LONGER considering all of the filament changes. Also, it would waste a ton of filament. So this seems to wok better for me. Also you can print different inserts to slide into the can depending on what you need.

      @@malonecustomdesigns Your reasoning is perfectly fine. However, if you haven't already I'd suggest poking into the wall / perimeter count, top / bottom layer count, infill type / percent and layer height. These settings will drastically boost or slow speed without affecting print quality. For example, 0.12mm layer height will be 40-60% slower than 0.18mm height, with both prints looking very similar other than the layer stacking at close inspection. I hope I'm not explaining something you already know, I figure I'd just put it out there. I personally keep all the speed settings default, but will always change walls, top bottom layers, infill and layer height on a per model basis.

      Electricity cost of running a machine like this is so small...you would probably never notice any increase in electric cost with one machine. So your filament cost is your largest factor. You do want to make sure you have commercial rights to sell certain files, but yes, people are making lots of money 3D printing. Myself....I print mostly for fun, but do make some sales. For instance, I have been selling an item for $30. That item takes 10.5 hours to print, but I only have about $4.60 in filament cost. So yes, you can make money.

    Just out of curiosity why print in two different parts when you can just use two colours at once with bambus AMS system

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  Před 7 měsíci +1

      There are two reasons actually.
      1. This file was designed to have the insert separate. There are even different inserts that you can print. So without having the knowledge to assemble all pieces into one...printing separately made sense.
      2. The inside of the bucket/can is colored while the outside of the can is grey. This makes more sense in the real world and looks natural. Like paint in the can. If you were to try to replicate this with a one piece print...there would be a whole lot of filament changes and a whole lot of waste! If you want the inside to look like paint, printing in two pieces is faster and uses less filament.
      Hope that helps!
