Did this yesterday and it worked really well. Just some hacks: •file your nails gently before sticking on the tips, otherwise the oils in the nails will make the tips fall off •do 2 layers of cornstarch, making sure the first layer has fully dried and that you filed it before second coat
For everyone asking, I tried this: -Yes, you can use flour, just make sure there are no lumbs in it -Yes, you can do it if the cornstarch is expired (mine was expired for just about 5 months) -You can remove these with nail polish remover (it will only dissolve the cornstarch-polish mixture, to remove the tips you will need tip-remover) -Mine lasted about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks Have fun trying these :)
THANK YOU for this video!! I tried it and so far they've lasted a week and still going strong! I'm a barista and they've stayed on through constant wet hands and cleaning. I'm gonna save so much money because here in Australia we pay at least $60 for acrylic nails! Xxxxx
I was about to say this, the drill never hurt, if anything hurts it’s when they go ham with the nail file after the acrylic, I silently cringe every single time, they’re so rough with it. 😭😖
I just tried this and it’s amazing!!! My nails look beautiful & professional. I will never pay for acrylic nails ever again thanks to this tutorial. 👍🏽😉😄
I do acrylic myself and I never fill my nails down only because you honestly don't have to. As long as you buff the nail and make sure it is clean NO OIL they can last for a while.
This is absolutely genius. I have a young teenager who is very nail obsessed. She thinks she needs her nails done weekly, and, if you have a knowledge of just how much that costs, well, you get the picture… I refuse to give her what she wants in this area, but, with this idea, I think this may just work beautifully for her! Definitely forwarding it to her and will do this for her, weekly, or anytime she wants if it will get her to hush up about weekly manicures and acrylics!
I loved reading this comment as well..I started getting full sets, a fill at about a week & 1/2 then that entire set off for full new set about 2weeks later---@ age 17. I earned the money myself btw. I started working as a hostess in an upscale club at 18, moved to bartender to bar manager over span of hours. I was engaged during a large part of this time period & I can say he NEVER once saw my real nails even though we lived together almost 7yrs! (Maybe a broken nail here or there-but Id rush out to fix.) I started w/acrylics, moved to pink&whites, then gels. That highend nightclub scene expects certain looks. When I finally graduated& was headed off to my career, my real nails were destroyed!! They were paper thin, hurt at lightest touch, looked awful, & I swear it was 3 years+ before my natural nails were healed & didnt look terrible. I used every strengthening polish, oil, treatment, vitamins, etc. So girls, use this method in the video for day to day- give you nails breaks- only go to a salon for VERY special occasions.
this is exactly what you’re supposed to do to make them look slimmer. a lot of nail salons put an oversized tip the width of your actual finger instead of your nail bed. these are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Let me start of by saying I never try anything i find on youtube 😂 but this worked AMAZINGLY!! at first I didnt file the tops enough where the cornstarch was and then painted, but i just removed the paint and refiled. they feel really sturdy even tho its only on half my nail too. thanks girl! didnt want to pay 40+ bucks to get my nails done!!
I stumbled upon your channel and watched your "how to polish your nails" tutorial and I am officially addicted to you girl!! You're very knowledgeable and helpful us newbies!
Now that my real nails are completely damaged and thin from getting fills back to back for the past year of 2017.. I'm definitely going to do this !!! I also ordered some really cute pre-designed press on nails from urban outfitters too! Thank you for your nail hack videos !
U had a bad nail stylist bc a good one would make acrylics so nice they don't hurt your nails so change ur salon and maybe try again bc acrylics are a real nice thing
Change stylist! It should protect your nails and it shouldn't hurt if she's any good. I once had a tech tear my acrylics off and damaged all the nail beds so badly they had bumps for 6 months
I tried this and I absolutely love it. You're a genius! Thank you for sharing. I haven't had my nail done in 6 years because the acrylic salon nails destroyed my nails. My daughters wedding is coming up in a month and I wanted my nails to look super nice. Your step by step tutorial and the fact that you don't use that acrylic powder stuff and glue is awesome! With a little more practice my nails will look fabulous for my daughter's wedding. Thank you! 🙏💕
I agree. I like how acrylics look. There's nothing wrong with a natural look but I like the thicker " unnatural " look of acrylic nails. I guess if I wanted a natural look I would just leave my nails natural lol
this is just a guess but you could probably use a thicker coat of the corn starch as clear polish mix and go over the whole nail to give it a thicker or acrylic style look and it'll still be will better for your nails.
Great idea! Very genius and more natural. This is going to be my new way of doing my nails from now on. No more smelly acrylic fumes and no more damaged nails! I love this idea. :) And let me just say.... super smart how you don't have to keep doing "fill-ins" as your nail grows. I love it :)
+BeautyStar 07 ~There are no binding polymers in the clear polish mixed with the corn starch, the plastic nail isn't protected from the chemical breakdown of any nail polish remover. This will only last until you remove the polish.
The more layers of glue applied across the entire nail , yes it will act as a bonder. For years I used brush on nail glue as a gel and just softly filed the nail tip ridge till it fit flush againest the nail bed and applied nail glue as a bonding gel.
im a nail tech and never have i had a clients nails look like that after removal, and my advice to the people that are expereancing this, is change your tech! nails should be excactly the way they were before acrylics, maybe a bit soft for the first day but there should be no damage at all!
Soak them of with acetone for at least 20 mins chick, then a light buff to smooth, techs should never use an electric file on natural nails niether, personally i remove them by filing away the bulk then soak and i aways give a mini manicure and apply a hardening top coat because nails are always soft for the first day or so, but if youre techs wrecking youre nails i would say change, hope that helps
I've been to ten different nail techs and no matter what method they use, my nails always look like that after they're removed whether they remove them or if I remove them. Stop lying to people lol
Why the hell would i lie lol im not stupid its my job so dont patronise me, if your nails are like that wen theyve finished 1 id want my money back and 2 youre NOT going to people who can do there job its pretty simple! techs should look after the natural nail just as much as the would there own, im not saying they do but they should! And 10 techs lol if thats the case why have them done 10 times pfft!! Ive got nothing to prove to you nor any1 else i was simply giving my opinion, and the girl asked for advice i gave her the same advice as i would anybody else, NONE of my clients have walked away with there nails a mess! Like i said why would i lie? Im not short of clients and i love my job my clients come back each month, if i did that to there nails they wouldnt come back! Its not rocket science!
My nails are one of my favorite accessories, I had acrylic nails for 6 months. If your nails hurt after taking them off you nails were either too small or they were taken off improperly. Your nails came out gorgeous btw 😁
This video was literally so helpful!! I LOVE getting acrylics done but it's super pricy! I find it so cool that you can do this at home :) thanks for sharing
This is awesome... I love nail extension and nail art. But every time I do my nails and ended up with damaged nails. But this is so awesome and budget friendly and I can keep my nails as healthy as it is. Thank you so much for this video.. I really appreciate your talent.. I will try this and will tag you soon.. Thanks a lot... You are a saviour. Love you... 😍😇
I tried and it worked very nicely I even shared if with other people. The removal is really simple and your nails always remain healthy. I honestly love this tutorial
Panda Beatz because she said that her mom does not let her get acrylics but she ordered the extensions which are some kind of the same thing so it's like doing something that you're not allowed to. Lmao
I got recommended this today for some reason, but wow am I glad that happened!!! It turned out better then I thought it would. I will definitely be doing this again!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Super excited to try this! I got acrylics for the first time 2 weeks ago and I hated that they shaved down my nails because I usually just paint my natural nails. This should save me money and the time waiting for my nails to be healthy again the next time I need a quick fix for short/broken nails. Thanks
What you are doing is fantastic and a great option for some. It was really good of you to share your technique. I'd just like to say in support of acrylics and talented techs - I shuddered when I saw your nails - bad memories of similar damage years ago. She tore my nails off and the damage she caused took 6 months to repair. It was excruciating. I didn't know any better. I thought that must be how it was done. Subsequently I have had several brilliant techs and always acrylics, and my nails have actually improved and are in the best shape they have been for years ( when I see them at fill time). So shop around there are some acrylic magicians out there if anyone is interest
I tried this a couple of times and it would last about 4-5 days before one popped off. Then my boyfriend saw what I was doing and suggested I coat my whole nail and the tip with the corn starch so it's more stable. If you get a good consistency with the corn starch and nail varnish it goes on smoothly, dries like a rock and you can buff the whole nail into the perfect shape without it being as thick as a lot of acrylics. Lasts a lot longer too!
+AlexandrasGirlyTalk thank you sooooooooo much for this because I hate what real acrylic nails do to your natural nail so I've never gotten them I am going to use this a lot
THE FIRST CORNSTARCH VIDEO I EVER WATCHED OVER A YEAR AGO!!! 😊😊😊 it’s 2017 and it has now become a trend lol, wow.... everytime I see a video of cornstarch nails I think of you!!! ❤️
I know this video is old, but I just came across it (in my recommend videos) Wow!!! This girl is extremely talented!!! I would of never thought to do this. The results are amazing! I used to be a fan of the thick curved look (as a teenager) but now, I am looking for the the most natural looking nails.. the salons I’ve gone to, can never achieve that look. I decided to learn myself... I bought all the products they use in the salons, & am watching CZcams videos to learn. Now that I’ve seen this!! I’m definitely going to try! Not only does it look amazing! But it looks easy to do, however I can’t polish to save my life, so it maybe harder than it looks. Anyway, amazing job!! Thanks for sharing your nail secret with us!!
+Tiff Berry ~There are no binding polymers in the clear polish mixed with the corn starch, the plastic nail isn't protected from the chemical breakdown of any nail polish remover. This will only last until you remove the polish.
+Shania Roy Thank you. You answered my question. I've been looking for a good way to cover my natural nails and add tips ( to grow out my natural nails underneath) I will be trying them. :)
Big thumbs up. Great idea and thanks for sharing. I might try it. Right now though, loving the dip systems which strengthen without the damage. They last longer than a week - up to three.
i’m gonna start using this because i recently saw your fugly to fab hand transformation and the acrylic set you used, damn it is expensive & im not gonna do my nails very often so i don’t see myself investing in it but this was very helpful especially being a 15 year old girl who loves occasionally having acrylics
girl this is such a good idea, i used to spend alot of money buying fake nails and the glue would mess up my nails but i fr wanna try this and try and make my nails look natural, ur a genius! ❤
I do everything at home. My hair, my makeup, waxing etc. the ONLY thing that I never tried was tips. This video literally saved me. Thank you so much ❤️
The drill does hurt a tinsy bit but it didn't hurt that much and when I took them off they were fine I just put a top coat over them and they were fine
oh my god, finally someone who thinks thick and chunky thick nails looks bad
moocowlaa I know right
moocowlaa i hate girls that have thick nails 🥴
Literally why would u go to a nail shop when u can do this 😂
Ikr
THANK YOU SOMEONE THAT AGREES WITH MEEEEEEE
I'm shook I didn't know you could wash a file 😳
Jenni Cisneros lol
Same
Right?! I've spent so much money on numerous nail files😭
That will save a lot of people money instead of buying new files all the time
Oh I know right. Mind blown.
Honey she is about to put the nail business OUT of Business lol😂
This World Crazy ya😂
smart thinking :)
The nail business isn't going anywhere! lol
candice castro - i think she was joking about nail salons going out of business , but it could put a dent in it.
The first one i was watching was a 0😣
Did this yesterday and it worked really well.
Just some hacks:
•file your nails gently before sticking on the tips, otherwise the oils in the nails will make the tips fall off
•do 2 layers of cornstarch, making sure the first layer has fully dried and that you filed it before second coat
Astrid Ljung thanks for the hacks! I really wanna do this because all the salons are closed:(
thanks a lot sweety
How long do they stay on for ?
FINALLY! SOMEONE WHO THINKS THE CHUNKY NAILS ARE UGLY
MissForever i think they are disgusting 😷

And anyone who wants their nails to look GOOD for more than a couple hours.
For everyone asking, I tried this:
-Yes, you can use flour, just make sure there are no lumbs in it
-Yes, you can do it if the cornstarch is expired (mine was expired for just about 5 months)
-You can remove these with nail polish remover (it will only dissolve the cornstarch-polish mixture, to remove the tips you will need tip-remover)
-Mine lasted about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks
Have fun trying these :)
Bella Jay but I used flour and the mixture never dried
Can I use talc free baby powder?? We don't have an oven where we live so no flour in our house
Did she use clear nail polish for the thing tho?
She used Kiss Express nail glue, which softens quite well when soaked in most polish removers, just for reference. 😉
Can you use gel polish with them?
THANK YOU for this video!! I tried it and so far they've lasted a week and still going strong! I'm a barista and they've stayed on through constant wet hands and cleaning. I'm gonna save so much money because here in Australia we pay at least $60 for acrylic nails!

den T what did she use??
You comment answered my question I shall be trying this
hat type of glue did you use/???
Artificial nails
@Maurisa George where do you live? That's so much 😭 are you going to try this??
I love how she gets right into the videos... No dumb intro or fake bits.... Love love love
The drill shouldn’t hurt. 100% of the time it’s the person doing your nails
Layla Lala i agree ☝🏼
When I first got mines done, the drill hurt a bit but not to much.
For real. Whoever made it hurt really needs to get some training
I was about to say this, the drill never hurt, if anything hurts it’s when they go ham with the nail file after the acrylic, I silently cringe every single time, they’re so rough with it. 😭😖
I'm nicked every single time.

Omg, she has litterally the best tutorials. The other ones on CZcams are so hard to do but this is so easy and cheap. Her videos are amazing.

I love how real and down to earth you are. It's nice to finally find a youtuber that knows the content that people actually need ❤❤❤
I absolutely love this, I'm game for anything natural! I've been using glue on press ons for years. I'll definitely be trying this out. Thank you

It like regular press on nails. It just covers half of your nails.

THE FIRST CORNSTARCH VIDEO I EVER WATCHED OVER A YEAR AGO!!! 😊😊😊
it’s 2017 and it has now become a trend lol, wow.... everytime I see a video of cornstarch nails I think of you!!! ❤️
Thank u so much I hate the buffing when I get my nails done and this looks so real ad beautiful!!
Can you please do a mini video on how to take them off! It would really really help me a lot! Love u💖
the only problem is i have piano lessons every week... whateva ima do this anyways lol
omg same!!! but I might quit soon so yay I can do these nails!
How would you take this off?
Same xD
Claudia Cabral just make them short
Claudia Cabral it's harder for me I play violin 😂😕
I know this video is old, but I just came across it (in my recommend videos)
Wow!!!
I love this. I've been looking for something easy and not needing to spend a fortune in the salon - thanks can't wait to try this out :)
I'm doing this now as I watch 😩 at the corn starch stage waiting for it to dry... the filing is gonna take the longest but it'll be worth it 😻😻😻
Did it work? How long did they last?
Instead of clear polish can you use the base coat with the cornstarch?
yea
Thanks
+Tiff Berry ~There are no binding polymers in the clear polish mixed with the corn starch, the plastic nail isn't protected from the chemical breakdown of any nail polish remover. This will only last until you remove the polish.
+Shania Roy Thank you. You answered my question. I've been looking for a good way to cover my natural nails and add tips ( to grow out my natural nails underneath) I will be trying them. :)
Thanks for the tip on how to blend nail tips. Love your nail tutorials. I could watch these over and over again...actually I have lol.
Omg I love you!!!!! I’ve been scared to do acrylics cuz of nail damage so i can’t wait to try this!
All of the nail techs are screaming 😂
they fell off after i ran them through my hair
Try a nail dehydrator first. Your nail oils caused them to fall off
why wouldn't they when they are not protected
Loooooool
Safer, no infection, no acrylics, save money. Gorgeous!
This is like magic ... So good and all natural no acrylic !! Thank you so much !!
Omg yessssss. So clean and easy. I did it and I’m like....✋🏽 (on fleek nails) 🤣
GIRL!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE
Looks great. Thanks for the tip on putting the tips on. I get confused on what size is best. Thanks a million.
CONGRATS ON 1M!!!
Now you got me scared to do acrylics... and I have acrylics on rn... but this helped a lot and I’m really thankful for this! Thank you! ❤️
girl this is such a good idea, i used to spend alot of money buying fake nails and the glue would mess up my nails but i fr wanna try this and try and make my nails look natural, ur a genius! ❤
how do you come up with this stuff!? just thinking about the thought process..."hmm lets try corn starch today!" lol
I use it a lot in my beauty routine as weird as that sounds.. I always think to use it for things
haha, just admiring the genius! keep at it girl :)
+AlexandrasGirlyTalk can you make a video on what you use cornstarch for on a daily basis
