Too little attention has been given to this character and his acting, he is even better and more interesting to me than the others. Every scene with him is interesting and funny. Not to mention the perfection of acting... Bravo Jon.

That is a inside joke. They both worked at the same Cafe. and customer would say Cryer looked liked Broderick. (Broderick became famous first, Cryer was still bussisg tables)

Just watched the two part episode where Hurbs sister Mira comes out for the wedding and of course ends up sleeping with Charlie. Jon Cryers physical comedy is outstanding while he looses his mind because Charlie is pursuing Mira so Judith is extremely outraged and taking it out on Allen. Could be the best episode, definitely top ten, seen it several times and I still laugh out loud.

Chiropractors earn a tonne in the US. I have a friend who is one with a private practice like Alan and he earned about $160K last year.
I’m only a few seasons in so maybe it’s something I’m missing. I know his ex screwed him over a bit but still - he’s on a chiropractor wage.
i guess in those years, chiropracting was on a decline and people would prefer to have a happy ending than have their backs cracked as mentioned by charlie on several occassions
