ℹ️ About the Episode
Mesa Verde was the first national park intended to “preserve the works of man,” in the words of Theodore Roosevelt. To this day, it’s the only park designated as a cultural park. Established in 1906, Mesa Verde offers visitors a rare chance to step inside some of the best-preserved cliff dwellings in the United States. These mesas were home to the Ancestral Pueblo people for over 700 years. For the first six centuries, people lived on top of the mesas. In the last 100 years, they built and lived in the cliff dwellings you can see today. No one knows why the Ancestral Pueblo abandoned these dwellings around 1300 AD. Mesa Verde offers natural beauty, too. It’s an International Dark Sky Park and home to over a thousand species, including some that live nowhere else on earth. If you visit, be sure to check out Morefield Campground. What a great time we had there!

Happy to see you coming back to Utah! I have lived here my entire life and I love it! I hope we run into you. Don’t forget Cassidy arch at Capital reef, you won’t regret it :)
Mesa Verde is a Gem… quiet and very thought inspiring. Your guide is perfect!
Will definitely check this out as we’re going there next year. Interesting that reservations are made outside of rec dot gov, but that’s nice because you can make them farther out. Did you stay in one of the sites with hookups?
@@exploringnewhites i would highly suggest wonderland rv park for hookups. Only 7 minutes away from the park
@@jordanh4127 Good to know, thanks 😊
Cherish every moment you have with each other, I had a great wife who hiked, full of spirit, great cook and we did so much together; one car accident and she is disabled for life... Luckily we did more by midlife than most do in a lifetime, never take each other for granted.
Hey mark and Trish our family is here. Ready to watch another fantastic weekly show. Keep up on the adventures. Hello everyone hopefully y'all appreciate them as much as we do.
I just absolutely love our monsoon season - everything is just amazing and the desert’s lushness… pfff… amazing!
Another half hour of perfectly done travel content...thanks Leach family!
Our first National Park was Mesa Verde and it did not disappoint. One thing that we did learn is little dogs are more susceptible to hypoxia and the side-effect of that was literally liquid diarrhea. You can use your imagination as I add the “incident” was as we were leaving the park. I look back fondly on that trip but my wife might not because the dog was in her lap. Whenever we talk about that I giggle uncontrollably until I look over at her giving me the “evil eye”. Great memories of our RV travels!
“I knew the roads on other planets would be better.” 😂😂😂😂
I loved that snazzy music at the end! I was dancing and bopping around my house while watching your video. I can't believe how quickly they cleared the road. You almost could have made another dog with all that fur from charley! Loved the video, already looking forward to next Sunday.
The only thing missing for that meal is a cocktail!!!!!! Beautiful!
Every time you guy;s said Mesa Verde, all I could dee was Trish as Kim Wexler [ Better call Saul ] Loved the tour, talk about living WITH THE LAND rather than on the land. CHEERS AND SAFE TRAVELS Steve h.
I learned about Mesa Verde reading my Weekly Reader in the mid sixties. To visit it was a highlight!!

Happy Sunday Funday!
And, yes. The tips, the info you provide on your experiences at the destination, are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you for what you do! Every week I add to the list of places I want to go and explore due to your videos. We have formed a small group of friends that have started expanding our range as we RV more and more. The inspiration your videos have provided has been a blessing to get us out of our comfort zone and on the road.
I've been to many of your blogs as I travel. So yes, they are worth it!!
I enjoy the video. The meal Trish made looks fantastic
❤Mesa Verde❤ Thank you taking us along on this trip. I love the driving scenery. I checked out the Mesa Verde Travel Guide and found the information extremely helpful.
What a fun video. We added Verde Valley to our must see list.Thank you for sharing. Mary💕Fred
Man who’s got it better than Caleb? Chauffeur, personal chef, travel agent and wakes up in awesome destinations every day? Love you guys. God bless.
Wonderful show you three! Did that trip back in 1957! Looks like I was just there!
Just a quick comment. We made it to Mesa Verde and Fiesta Mexicana. Love it all. We went to Cliff Palace. Thank you!!
One of your BEST videos ever!! Love all of it, especially your family time at dinner.
That was a great video! Hate to say I didn't know it existed. Glad it's on my radar now!
Always love watching your videos! Thank you for all your hard work!
Love this and love you sharing all the things you need to know to do there!!!!AWESOME!!!
This is great guys. Such great tips and hints. Love the history mesa. Whoa amazing
Some day I will visit Mesa Verde! I have wanted to since childhood. 🥰
This brought back so many memories! I remembered going on a trip with my family back in the early 60’s and in 2007 wanted to add it to our 11week cross country trip but couldn’t remember what it was called. It is now on our list. Next step is a workout routine so we can climb those ladders!
it sounds like your next episodes are going to be fun!
Mesa Verde is amazing, and the dwellings are so impressive. It’s really quite mind-blowing to see what they have been able to achieve. So many skills in such a small population! We visited Long House and Step House. Cliff Palace and Balcony House were closed so we’re going back in September to visit those. We also visited Puebloan ruins in New Mexico (Chaco Canyon and others). It was so impressive to learn more about these peoples and how they lived. All that to say, highly recommend Mesa Verde. And another fun video, thanks!
Thanks for the blog. So right the parks can be confusing til you get there!
KYD you guys rock and thank you again for another great video 👍🍺👏 from Milton Florida
Love the Trek T-Shirt! Ride Bikes, Have Fun, Feel Good
I am so jealous! We visited Mesa Verde in June of 21, and the tours were shut down due to COVID. The closest we got to the pueblos was gazing down from the rim of the canyon. Maybe once we get out of the new normal, and return to the old normal, we'll have a chance to return for the tours. Thanks for sharing!
Another great video and your Travel guide information is very useful
Great episode guys like always
Loves to all!!!! Your the best 😘
Thank you Mark and Trisha, Caleb, another wonderful adventure with real life happenings. I love the National Parks. Seeing them all are on my bucket list. Thank you for taking the extra time to give us all the scoop on the Parks. Spent time in the great PNW this summer, can’t wait to see where you adventure to. I’ll be back in the Spring, looking forward to your notes. 🌸
Amazing thanks for the Mesa Verde⛰️ trek ....admire those 'Tour Guides' of the volume of historical value ‼️🌵. Tricia's meal plans make it a *network cook show stopper 🤗😋. Hope "travel safe" to the home ground base - next best 'episode' to come yet, anticipation 🤗👋
Another awesome video. Just watched a Finding your Someday video and they had a spring break on there travel trailer.
I find the blog very helpful. Thanks & I appreciate the effort. The hummus & dinner looked wonderful along with the scenery ... Nice footage of the flood.
You made a good decision staying outside of Mesa Verde. The ride up the mountain to the campground was terrifying at least to this flatlander! Loved the second place you stayed and
glad there was no damage due to the pot hole. Thanks for taking us along!
Just checking-in on you. Looking forward to next week! See ya then! That margarita sure looked tasty 😋!
Thank you appreciate the blog info too
WAITING ALL DAY FOR SUNDAY NIGHT! Another spectacular show. As always you never disappoint. Sites to see, yummy cooking segment, Caleb comedy, Marc doing what he does, and Charlie what a great traveler and companion. Hope to get some of that rain here in Texas next week.
Seems you always find rain in your travels. Can't wait to see the Bungalow. The Cabin Bear needs a cap. Safe travels
❤️🤠
Trish that margarita makes you a lightweight. My wife drinks them a pitcher at a time. Another tip for hummus is to put a little bit of crushed ice in to thin it a little and keep it from getting warm while blending nice and smoothe.
Arizona has so many awesome places to visit!
A must on the bucket list
We were camped there in 2020 when the tours weren't running, but it was still great and practically empty. We hiked and photographed many of the dwellings from overlooks etc. Interestingly, there were also wild horses, so we enjoyed catching them at various times and places. We look forward to going back sometime for one of the tours.
and I agree - nothing better than a camper nap with all windows open!
Enjoying the video. The last time I camped at Mesa Verde there was hippies and flower children everywhere. Had to pay a dime to go to the restrooms. Boy that was a long time ago, lol.
Yeah, thanks doing such a great job filming and editing this episode.
I definitely saved Mesa Verde in Google maps, with a note linking your Mesa Verde Travel Guide.
In addition to all the stunning views in the park, your dinner in that verdant valley was just so beautiful.
Onward
I remember going to The Pueblo dwellings when I was a child. That hummus looks wonderful. I just purchased a small blender for our travel trailer. I will add hummus to the list of things I want to make with it.
Another truely amazing video. My wife was an educator before here stroke and we love the educational side of you videos. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent, one of your best. Just visited the Mesa Verde blog, keep bring that information on. It is excellent.
Another great episode! Thanks
Trish, I LOVED my passport book! I got all the stamps and if I did forget the book I used a piece of paper, but SO missed that actual book.
Happy Sunday Fam!
Wow what a nice campspot
Wow! We were just there a few weeks ago. From the RV park to Cliff Palace. We had a great time. We have also learned to take screen shots of passes before heading out to the parks.
We are enjoying our time in our 2018 Classic FBT. Thanks so much for sharing your travels. We have learned so much from you.
Hi guys. Really enjoy your v ideas. I grew up in Cortez and have been to the Mesa probably 50 times. Even though I love the ruins, I think I appreciate the museum more. You really get to learn about the native peoples and their culture. I also was fortunate to go to a party for the archeological team that excavated the first part of Weatheral Mesa. Spent over two hours at the ruins with the head archeologist. What a learning experience.
I love mesa verde. Getting to the main area is quite a winding road. Getting to the ntl park campsites too.
Love your videos… Thank you!
I absolutely love your garlic salt seasoning.. on my third jar.. use it on almost everything! ❤️
Loved Mesa Verde. We stayed at a great Rv park in Cortez, Grand View RV park.
You guys are amazing. We’ve been following your videos since the beginning. We have learned so much from you. You inspire us to keep going. So far we’ve logged 60 thousand miles in our RV. We also live in the Tampa Bay Area and are excited to have you as neighbors. So many awesome places to visit here. You are truly the most genuine CZcams site we’ve found regarding RVing. Thank you for giving of yourselves!
Marc cracks me up, the things, he says !!
I visited Mesa Verde at the end of June, and your tips are spot on. I waited too late to make a tour reservation, but it is still a wonderful place to visit. The drive through the park is so beautiful. You definitely need to allow enough time to stop at all the vista points. Some areas were under construction and/or closed, so I definitely want to go back to do a ranger tour and see the places that were closed. Best of luck to Carson at Embry-Riddle!
Thanks for the tips!!
Mesa Verde looked awesome!! Definitely putting that one on the list!!
Great episode! Camping at Moorehead looked so wonderful, the epitome of the perfect camping environment. It’s been a long desire of mine to visit Mesa Verde. I have heard that there are places (multiple sites) within the park that look fairly close to each other “as the crow flies” but that you have to drive quite a ways around to go from one to the other. So that might be a potential planning trap to underestimate time it takes to just get from Point A to B. Looking forward to reading your blog/paper on Mesa Verde. We have a rig now that is capable of visiting these western locations, and so looking forward to visiting Colorado / Arizona / Utah / Idaho / Wyoming. We were at Custer State Park about four years ago with a smaller rig and you have been our inspiration for four or five years now. Thank you so much for showing us about so many things.
Woohooo!! Can't wait to watch!
Hi, guys! We were at Mesa Verde in April 2022, just before the tours opened for the season. It would have been GREAT to have had your blog ahead of time to know what to expect. When we first got into the NP, we thought it was pretty anticlimactic after all the great things we had heard about it….that nearly an hour drive to find the ruins nearly had my not-so-patient husband ready to turn around and leave. So glad we hung in for the rest of the drive. We are what you might call a little older, so ot sure about actually doing the more strenuous tours, but it’s something we might try when we are back out that way from home in NW Georgia. Thanks so much!
Fantastic as always. Was there in March and enjoyed cold air and no crowds but the tours weren’t happening. I will need to go back to do that tour!
Hi, Thanks for all your work on these videos. I have learned so much from you both. This video was amazing.I’m on my way to Homer AK from San Diego after being full time for a year. And I love all your personalities.
Awesome!!!
“What Is that, cream cheese? No, moisturizer and a butter knife” 🍴😂🙌👍 Bahahaha …. That, along with “who would of thought lettuce and a blender would bring things to a halt” Love the that part of the world! Great Ep… drone and music 👍👍
Great video! I dig that you show your weekend warrior side of things as well. Funny that you comment about that area you drove through "looking like another planet". I was with my family with our RV in June in southeast Utah, and particularly on highway 70 north of Arches/Moab right before we turned onto 191, and we made the same comment about it being like another planet. We had similar weather, and the wind that day wow! And yeah, the roads there beat us up, but was worth it. Neat but weird feeling that area gave us ;) Felt similar "another planet" vibe around Monument Valley, and the Lake Powell and Page, AZ area.
You folks are amazing. If anyone has wanderlust (and incredible stamina) it's certainly you people. And all that travel translates to a wonderful benefit for followers like me. Terrific composition and photography. But the best part is the family dialog and interaction. Keep travelling and all the best.
