Hello Insanian [ Insanian Reacts ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
I noticed that you had an attempt to react to this band 3 years ago, but since it is no longer available, I will give you the message with the history of the band below.
Welcome [BACK] to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Hi there, as a fellow Dutch guy ( this one 68 years young) I want to ask you a question. Why in the hell, when I am at a party in the Netherlands, and I tell people about Floor Jansen, I am met with not understanding eyes... A glaze empty stare.... Only the people who saw her at "Beste Zangers" know her. It is an absolute shame!!! We should all be extremely proud of her and rise a huge statue in honour of Floor. Because She is the very best singer in this part of the universe....
By the way: the same with Arjen Lucassen from Ayreon. That God is also only known by the happy few in the Netherlands. He has earned His statue too after composing and performing Epic music for 30 years now . It is a bloody shame that people only follow mainstream music what the radio stations tell them to listen to . Amen.

Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show, and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie Goddess, and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it.

And, she wasn’t even a full member of the band at this concert, she was a fill in for their singer who fell sick mid tour. She became a permanent member very shortly after.

Ik ben een man van 59 en ik heb Floor en Nightwish leren kennen, toen Floor nog niet bij Nightwish zong. Het zal rond 2006-2007 geweest zijn, toen ik eerst eerst via een YT-link op het spoor van Nightwish gezet werd en later door een jonge dorpsgenote gewezen werd op After Forever, de eerste band waarin Floor zong. Ik had nog geen tijd gehad om AF te ontdekken, maar in de krant zag ik dat ze die avond in Groningen zouden spelen en ik ben daar onvoorbereid naartoe gegaan en met het eerste nummer had Floor mij ingepakt. De coupletten in een rockstem en het refrein vol klassiek, had ik nog nooit gehoord..... Haar veelzijdigheid is ongeëvenaard. Ik was meteen fan. Nadat AF uit elkaar ging, ben ik Floor wat uit het oog verloren, maar in 2012 had ik de gelegenheid om Nightwish live te zien, toen nog met Anette, wat best een tegenvaller was, omdat ik de meeste NW optredens online met Tarja gezien had. Dit was een half jaar voordat Floor bij NW werd ingevlogen. Een paar jaar later, bedacht ik me hoe gaaf het zou zijn, als Floor een gastoptreden bij Nightwish zou doen en ik ben daarop gaan googelen. De rest is geschiedenis. Dit nummer en dit optreden popte op en ik ben fan forever.

There is definitely a progressive element to Nightwish compositions. Your comment is so accurate. That is why we all refer to Floor as our Valkyrie queen of symphonic metal. She leads us into battle and chooses us all to follow her to Valhalla. A true angel with the power of a goddess. I saw it live in 2022. An out of body experience!
I have heard and watched this 100's of times and it never gets old. One of the most epic compositions in the history of rock/metal. Floor will continue to amaze and Nightwish will bring so many twists and turns.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish, symphonic metal at its finest. This is a band made up of a group of extremely talented musicians, who all play for the song. No egos here. The result is a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. The keyboardist, Tuomas is the composer and lyricist for most of their music. I think, from the looks of your reaction, that you are going to enjoy your nightwish journey. You'll find that every song is different and there isn't a bad song in the bunch. I will be following (and subscribing) your journey with interest.

Floor is een muzikale nerd. Ze begon als 16-jarige bij After Forever en die ontdekte ik in 2004 op het bevrijdingsfestival in Almere. Ik werd meteen fan. Floor is muzikaal opgeleid in rock en klassiek maar is altijd bezig met haar zang verder ontwikkelen. Hoe zij een verhaal vertelt met gebruik van haar stem, gezicht en hele lijf, vind ik ongekend. Krijg je kippenvel vanuit je nek en ruggengraat, dat zo'n siddering door je heen gaat, dat noemen we een Floorgasm. Floor bracht me in 2013 op het pad van Nightwish. Zo leerde ik de genialiteit van de andere bandleden kennen, toetsenist en componist Tuomas voorop. Ze noemen hem de metal Mozart en dat is niet voor niets. Deze reis ga je serieus van genieten en ik volg je graag. Groeten van de Nightwish Army Westland, Nederland.

After I noticed how great this "song" is listening to it a couple times in the background, I couldn't stop. Probably for one or two week I listened to nothing but this. Maybe a couple 100 times, not getting tired of it. Still not. I even created my own blend of this one and Buenos Aires 2012.

Vous venez de faire connaissance du métal symphonique et de notre reine Floor, mais vous n'avez qu'effleuré le dessus de l'iceberg et vous n'êtes qu'a l'entrée du terrier de lapin. Je vous souhaite de bons floorgasmes et continuez vos réactions nous serons toujours derrière vous pour vous soutenir pour notre groupe...... Encore plus d'écoutes s'il vous plait...... Merci. Continuez sur le festival du Wacken Open Air 2013, vous êtes sur de ne pas vous tromper, les quinze chansons du set sont des classiques pour tous les fans du groupe et sont à écouter absolument. Vous venez d'écouter la 13ème chanson du set, vous devriez maintenant écouter une petite histoire, faites le Storytime, un excellent rock dont le refrain reste longtemps en tête , ensuite faites le Ever Dream qui commence comme une douce ballade voix piano et sur un signe de Marko ( le bassiste ) continue d'accélérer pour finir comme un train à grande vitesse, puis essayez du plus lourd avec Ghost River pour entendre le mélange des voix de Floor avec Marko ou encore plus lourd avec Romanticide..... Et je pense que notre ami Gabriel Bardac devait arriver sous peu, ou être déjà passé ( Un grand MERCI à Gabriel d'avoir repris le flambeau de notre regrettée Anne ) cliquez sur son nom et allez sur communauté, vous pourrez suivre sa liste en toute confiance avec les meilleurs mixages à la bonne vitesse et avec le meilleur audio mais ce n'est pas une obligation, juste un sage conseil pour entendre une petite partie du meilleur du groupe. Yes - that is the gem you dutch have had for over two decades now and still many of you are completely oblivious of this. Luckily she found a good musical home from the halls of our finnish metal Mozart - a perfect match, and now after all these years Dutch people are slowly starting to understand the greatness of your very own Floor Jansen.
I must say you dutch have also many other sublime musicians in metal music. But those are whole different rabbit holes of their own.

Gabriel's list pretty much covers the best of Nightwish with Floor as lead vocalist. Every song is different, and your favorite tends to be the last one you listened to. Ghost Love Score is a great showpiece for Floor, but you'll be amazed at the variety of music the group can produce. Don't miss "Dark Chest of Wonders", a real banger that they opened up this concert with - they got the crowd fired up in a matter of seconds.

Well hello from Nightwish Army Canada here! This group is no joke, you have entered a rabbit hole full of fabulous songs in many different styles by the most fantastic group I have ever witnessed. I am more than happy to join you on your journey of discovering my fav band. I will be watching for your next trip into Nightwish!
The band's primary category is symphonic metal but this particular piece, this is a mix of fantasy adventure, pirate ship, and folky renaissance fair-- but it's got such a compelling return, so satisfying to get that early part back but at an even higher energy level, oh and that Floor finale, damn that's a top 5 all time vocal moment right there. Go back and listen to it again. From her sustained note when the camera's on bass and guitar players in side by side power stances and just as the camera comes back to Floor, tune in and let her voice have full access to your brain. Glorious.

Welcome to the Nightwish Army, my new friend! Most of us call this sub-genre "symphonic power metal," although it certainly does also contain prog-metal and/or prog-rock elements/influences. The band mastermind (keyboardist) does not classify it as any particular genre. So, in reality, some of us have started to class it as simply the Nightwish sub-genre! They are their own thing.

Great Reaction! Thank you! Nightwish was not well know/popular band in Netherlands before 2019. Floor Jansen was also quite unknown in his home country. All chances when Floor participate TV show Beste Zangers 2019. She and Nightwish came much mope popular in Netherland. In 2015 Nightwish played Amsderdam Afas live about 6000 people and 2018 in Ziggo Dome about 8000-10 000 people and 11/2022 they had two soldout show in Ziggo Dome:) Recommend Nightwish feat Henk Poort Phantom of the Opera 2022 in Ziggo Dome.

Hello Insanian Reacts, welcome to Nightwish and their successful and considerably talented 3rd female singer Floor Jansen. This official live version of Ghost Love Score at Wacken Open Air festival 2013 has now been viewed approximately 33 million times worldwide.
Floor is in the NPO2 Top2000 beside “Phantom of the Opera” with Nightwish with 2 songs: the single 'Élan' came in at #312 (2019), #576 (2020) #491 (2021) and rose to #389 (2022). And the live version you just watched 'Ghost Love Score' at Wacken Open Air came in at place #1417 (2019), #365 (2020), 272 (2021) and rose to 197 (2022). Solo she came in at #1667 (2024) with “Fire” (for the first time ever).
Nightwish owes its sudden breakthrough in the NPO2 2000 list to the success of Floor in the TV program Beste Zangers. In that program last year, Jansen managed to make a deep impression with her voice and performance. The Dutch public is then quickly introduced to the work of Nightwish, in which Jansen took over the role of lead singer from Swedish singer Anette Olzon in 2012.
Of course you knew Floor, but now you saw her in her element. Did you know that Floor was already active in the Dutch band After Forever in 1995? And after its breakup in 2010, she was very successful at GrassPop with her own band "ReVamp"?
Floor Jansen (Goirle (NLD), February 21, 1981), although she gained even more international fame as the front singer of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, she previously had a successful career with the Dutch symphonic metal band After Forever and ReVamp.
After Forever (1997-2009)
At the age of 16, Floor joined the Dutch metal band After Forever as a singer. She soon became the front singer and had an important role in writing the lyrics. On the first two albums, Prison of Desire (from 2000) and Decipher (from 2001), she did this together with Mark Jansen (no relation). After Mark left the band in 2001, she became the main lyricist for the three subsequent studio albums Invisible Circles (2004), Remagine (2005) and the untitled final album After Forever (from 2007). With After Forever she has toured in Europe, the US, Mexico and Brazil. In 2002 After Forever toured as support act for Nightwish. After Forever was dissolved in February 2009.
During her time at After Forever, she studied at the Rock Academy in Tilburg from 1999 with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute.
ReVamp (2009-2016)
On June 16, 2009, Floor announced that she would start her own band. Later that year, she unveiled the name ReVamp, which was presented on May 5, 2010. She largely wrote the music and lyrics herself. Joost van den Broek, keyboardist of After Forever, was responsible for an important part of the production of the music in the beginning. Two albums were released: the self-titled first album ReVamp in 2010, and Wild Card in 2013. On the album Wild Card she collaborated with a large number of guest artists, including former After Forever member Mark Jansen (now a member of the band Epica), Devin Townsend and Johan van Stratum and Marcela Bovio from Stream of Passion. Between both albums, she developed health problems and was diagnosed with burnout, which forced her to cancel her concert tour in 2011. By the end of 2011 she had partially recovered and performed with MaYaN in Brazil, among others. A year later, in October 2012, Nightwish contacted her to complete their tour as a guest singer. After she became a full band member of Nightwish in 2013, it was no longer possible to invest sufficient energy in ReVamp, and ReVamp was disbanded in September 2016.
Nightwish (since 2012/2013)
From October 1, 2012, Floor replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. According to her, she was asked to do this by telephone during a family member's wedding and she had 48 hours before the first performance to learn the Settlist. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she became the group's permanent new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Floor as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Floor as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
Solo artist (since 2019)
Despite Jansen's worldwide success with Nightwish (with which she also managed to sell out the AFAS Live twice in the Netherlands in 2015) and for which she received the Buma Rocks Award in 2018 for most successful Dutch artist abroad, she was hardly mentioned by the Dutch music press. noted. However, she was a guest in the TV program De Tiende van Tijl in August 2010 and January 2013. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini both times. In March 2016 she was a guest in the TV program De Reünie, with her class from the Rock Academy.

She also had two life performances at Pinkpop in one day in 2022, both solo and with Nightwish. At the opening of the Formula 1 competition in Zandvoort in September 2022 she sang the Wilhelmus.
Her solo debut album “Paragon” was released on March 24, 2023. NPO Radio 2 wrote about it: "With its mix of influences and powerful vocal performances, Paragon is an album that will appeal to both fans of pop music and metal." It received 3.5 out of 5 stars on the Louder Sound website.
Other projects and performances
In 2009, Floor performed several times in the Netherlands with the Red Limo String Quartet. In 2017, Floor recorded an album with Jørn Viggo Lofstad. Together they form the hard rock duo Northward. The first song, While Love Died, was released on August 24, 2018. The full album was released on October 19, 2018. Floor also collaborated as a guest musician on albums by Ayreon, Star One, Sabaton, Nightmare, Avantasia and Bertus Borgers.
Singing style
Floor is a light soprano, with an range of more than three octaves (C3 to F6).] Her singing style varies from opera and clean singing to screaming and grunting. She usually sings in English, but she has sung also songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish.

Ja!!! Nightwish together with mom! ❤Toen ik op de middelbare school zat, was Nightwish net populair aan 't worden. (1998) ik snapte het toen echt niet. Was te dramatisch, ik had behoefte aan simpele punkrock 😂 ik heb ze met de eerdere zangeressen op lowlands gezien, maar was nog steeds niet op. Maar in 2015 met Floor... Man... Ineens snapte ik het. 😂 Sindsdien gaat er geen dag voorbij dat ik geen nightwish luister. 😊
