@@destinycrespo2171 i know this is late lmao but it only hurts for the first few months when they get put on and the adjustments. i’ve had mine for a year and a half and they don’t hurt when they get tight ended anymore unless they put something new in my mouth. For example, i just moved to a different state, so i switched orthodontists and they took my braces off, put spacers in, and put on new braces for me yesterday and my mouth is killing me 🧍🏽♀️the braces i had last time were different, now i have metal bands and build ups in my mouth and it’s horrible but yeah that’s all.

😭😭😭😭I'll be getting my braces next month and the doc said I'll have to wear them for next 2 years and I'm 22 !!
the process is painful but the improvement varies from each patient,payments aside, make sure you fully trust your dentist because some treatments takes years.

I recently got braces for my buccal crossbite. I’m 30 and wish that I could’ve gotten it fixed when I was in my teens but my family and I could not afford it. Now I am experiencing TMJ discomfort and also have major jaw asymmetry because of it. Crossing my fingers that my treatment will be able to alleviate some of the TMJ issues and improve my facial asymmetry as well - even with getting treatment late in life.

I have a crossbite and 30 as well. I got my braces just before my 29th bday. Now trying to treat the crossbite with elastics but im skeptical about it working. For adults only jaw surgery can fix the crossbite but I dont want to go down that route

I had braces since 2019, but my bite haven't improved yet. I think i have the unilateral posterior crossbite. And up until now, my bite still haven't improved in its best. The doctor did not use that "quad helix expander". My right upper teeth are still behind my lower teeth. Ive also developed posterior crossbite of my two molars under. Ive already spent so much, but still I feel ugly. When someone took photos of me, I would not smile because i don't feel confident at all. I feel helpless 😭😭😭😭 i feel like im draining my money. All for nothing!!!!!
I'm looking for other options once im done with this doctor.

any updates? my orthodontist also did not mention anything about the quad helix expander and i have the exact same crossbite as the unilateral posterior crossbite. The picture shown in the video is exactly how my teeth look as of now and im scared if il spend money and still have a crossbite at the end.

I have a unilateral anterior crossbite on my lateral incisor (hope I got that right! LOL) and I’ve had my braces on for about 2 weeks. They put bite blockers on my two front teeth and a bite pad on one of my molars. I can’t close my bite all the way which means I can’t grind and chew food all the way. It kind of sucks but I’ve wanted braces since I was a child. And I’m so happy to finally have them and can’t wait to have straight teeth. Maybe about a year? I’m also getting married in exactly a year so I hope I can get them off by then!

hi,my dentist told me to remove 2 premolar on the top and bottom but my jaw is longer on one side so im not sure if it'll fix.(my orthodontics don't answer my question and i left) is it better to get jaw surgery instead of braces? and if it is better get braces is it better to remove teeth before wisdom teeth removal or after?

Well from the animation, I'm guessing I've got a RPE or whatever. Really got in the way of eating at first, still does when my food gets caught in between the small gap of the roof of my mouth and the expander

What you used as an example of buccal crossbite is what i know as a lingual crossbite or scissor bite (mandibular teeth lingual to maxillary), please explain. What then would a lingual crossbite look like?
There are many different names and ways to describe bite problems.
In our definitions a lingual cross bite would mean that the lower teeth are wider than the top teeth.

It usually will take about 2 year for braces with bite correction.
I went and got a sleep test done and they told me that I did not have sleep apnea. I could never find out why I snore. Its because of me teeth. I have a narrow arch, crossbite . smh I have braces on now. My dentist told me that i may need teeth pulled on the other side to bring my my Midline to the center.

I have a single tooth anterior crossbite that I started treating this week with invisalign. So far I have seen that I have been managing to wear them 22:30 hrs each day on an average. How long do you think such a treatment would last?
It’s difficult to say with accuracy without seeing your teeth. Definitely ask to it doctor and they will be able to give you a more accurate treatment time estimate 👍
MARPE is also a newer method for expanding the palate, is this recommended over RPE?
MARPE is used mostly in patients that may be too old to expand with a traditional RPE. Both treatment options are great but usually for different ages of patients

I have open bite on one side and cross bite on other. My teeth also mess up . I’m on braces now. Braces only gonna fix the teeth into position not really change a lot in the jaw area. My dentist told me that I can only fix it through surgery there is no alternative ways to fix it but surgery. I’m 18 now I don’t know if I should do it now or later on when I have money. But I feel like if I wait my teeth might mess up again and destroy all the progress with braces . 😭😭😭

i kept trying to match my cross bite to what I saw but its a mix of everything Lol. My left side has my entire top row over the bottom like a buccal crossbite but my right side is fine. Would I still have the same treatment as those who has a buccal crossbite?

Could someone tell me if my dentist know what he is doing to my Braces. I've been on braces for 3 months and he just newly knew that i do have an crossbite because he saw on my third month visit that my front teeth is slightly moving. And because of that I'm having a doubt whether he know what he's doing or not

I had braces as a kid and my teeth are straight but when I rest my jaw my front teeth are completely covered by my bottom teeth. I grind my teeth at night and am always tired. Would I be a candidate for corrective jaw surgery? Would I still most likely need braces? Trying to decide if I should see a corrective jaw surgeon or not.
Your best option would be to visit an orthodontist to find out if it’s a tooth problem or jaw problem. If jaw surgery is recommended they will be able to refer you to an oral surgeon.
Braces or Invisalign is needed in combination with any type of corrective jaw surgery.
@@PremierOrthodontics it’s definitely a jaw problem. My entire bottom jaw covers my upper jaw and my jaw is crooked a little in its resting state but I will do that.

I’d just like to say that it is possible for adults with severe posterior crossbites to use an RPE device. I’m a 28 y.o. female and have successfully expanded over 15mm with the help of two MSE appliances and did not require surgery.
MSE appliances in adults is a newer procedure that is showing promise.
It is still a little unpredictable, some adult patients get great results while it may not work as well in others. There is lots of research and discussion on this topic

I want to cry , I feel like my cross bite could of been fixed but my ortho said no that I would need surgery . I didn’t have a cross bite before braces and now I do my braces just came off last month and I’m so unhappy. I hate my smile , I feel like treatment was not done correctly.

Great question! Due to everyone's treatment length being different from patient to patient, our best advice is to see what your local orthodontist has to say about your case :)
My bite is more accurate with relatively straight teeth (semi rotated canines) and I was told 12-16 months. One week in... yaaaaay.
@@PremierOrthodontics my teeth also look almost identical to the unilateral posterior crossbite, except I have a rotated right canine as well. However, I got braces put on 3 weeks ago but I have no expander and my ortho never mentioned anything about possibly having to wear one either. Now I’m concerned after watching this video, I’m confused how just the braces alone can expand/pull out those teeth to align properly. Is it possible that just braces alone can correct my bite? It’s been 3 weeks almost 4 and haven’t seen any difference in my teeth yet or felt tension in that area…

My jaw and teeth are so bad I'm going to need surgery while in braces. My parents also couldn't afford braces so I finally got them last year at the age of 37 years old. I hope something changes for you sooner though.

Most orthodontic offices will offer payment plans that make it more affordable.
Check around - you should be able to find an option that works for your budget 👍

You can get Medicaid and if it’s a medical reason, they’ll cover the cost fully up until age 21.

My 7 yr old has a moderate unilateral posterior crossbite and we have had assessments done with 2 different orthodontists unfortunately they had different recommended treatment plans which just confused us more. One suggesting an RPE now braces later for alignment. The other scoffing at RPE and suggesting using braces and elastics later. Would love your thoughts. Mostly concerned with which will have overall better results and be more tolerated. Leaning toward RPE so maybe less time in full braces and less arguing with a tween about consistently wear elastics. 😬

I’ve been wearing braces for 2years,i have crossbite underbite , it is ok if no elastics? my dentist hasn’t put it on yet.🤷♀️
Hello Yazzz, Our best advice is to take the guidance from your Orthodontist. If they haven't told you about elastics and to start wearing them, we wouldn't advise that you start. Your Orthodontist will know when the right time will be (some cases you may never need them).

@@destinypena5888 yeah sometimes I feel cause your mouth and teeth have to reposition themselves and sometimes changing your entire bite. When my teeth are crossed my bite was closed. Now that it moving I’m getting an open bite then they’ll close the bite down so your jaw is in the right position and your teeth are comfortably sitting in the new position. If that make sense
It would show results in just 2 months... believe me after a few more months you are going to see change it's at least take 1 year for your cross bite to get fix... keep going you got this!

I'm confused if i have an underbite or a crossbite. So my upper arch sits outside my lower arch like a normal bite, except my four upper front teeth because they are quite slanted inwards making my four lower front teeth go outwards like an underbite 🤔 can this still be fixed by braces?
It sounds like you have an anterior crossbite. (which is also an underbite)

From the pictures it looks like I have a severe posterior crossbite but the orthodontist said I just need braces. Is it possible they could change their mind midway and get an expander? I really don’t want one
I didn’t understand everything they said but they said the midline was straight ( but my face is asymmetrical). They said I had severe crowding at the top. And moderate at the bottom.
I have one tooth at the top which is fully blocked out and another which is partially blocked out. My canine teeth are partially upwards and and my two teeth behind my two front teeth are a bit behind them.
My bottom row just overlap a bit at the front but my back teeth have gaps. I’m confused
