    I have exact same car. Bought it from a private seller and changing ownership took 10 minutes and was ready to supercharge for free ever since. Free unlimited supercharging for the life of the vehicle is only transferable between owners. If you get a used one from a dealer it will be gone if it once had it. Great car!

      Not 100% true... it is available if car was never owned by Tesla. I just bought a 2016 P100D and it had FUSC. Downside is no guarantee it will have it cause the dealer won't know. Bonus for me my P100D was $37k with only 31k miles! If you buy this way check last supercharge cost and ask dealer how they acquired the vehicle.

      @@Seb.S. Yes. It's expensive, but if you're going to keep the car, the upgrade makes it work the way it should. It used to take forever to get some directions and find supercharges. Now, that's almost instant and it's fast enough to stream Netflix while I'm charging.

      @@bam111965 Thanks for your thoughts! I've had my car for 5 years and will likely keep it for another 5 years - so may consider doing the upgrade, although I have to say the MCU1 has not been bothering me too much... sure, it's a little sluggish but still gets the job done for me. How much was the upgrade? PS: Tesla just swapped my rear motor for free as well... it had developed the milling issue and had water inside. I'm told the replacement has improved bearings and should not develop the same issue again.

    • @bam111965
      @bam111965 Před rokem +3

      @@Seb.S. I just had my rear motor replaced under warranty as well. The MCU 1 didn't bother me much until I was on a road trip and it would not route me properly to the next charger and then it made me miss a major highway change because it was being sluggish - all the while I'm wondering if I have enough juice to make it to the next charger. I think they charged me around $1,750 plus $500 for the radio chip. I complained because it was originally quoted at $1,500. They gave me a $200 discount when I complained. I honestly got it just to make my next cross-country trip less stressful, but I was amazed how much of a difference it made in day to day operation. The car even starts faster - like instantly.

      I bought my used 2014 P85D from Tesla used car program in May of 2020. The car already have 75Kmi on it when I got it. Charging it full says 234 miles, official range when new is 253 miles. So that's about 7.6% degradation with this unscientific method. Before the Tesla geeks start commenting on the method and whether I calibrated the battery, answer is no I don't care. It was a good deal even buying directly from Tesla, it was $39K. The car was totally detailed and any small problem fixed, even came with the after market center console that the previous owner installed. Buying a used car from Tesla does have some advantage as it carry a warranty until 100Kmi. I have serveral thing fixed under warranty, one is the brake developed a squeal right after deliver, turn out they put new brake pad on but install the shim improperly. Two is the battery heater gave out at 90K, fixed under warranty, door handles broke, one led, one paddle gear, both fixed under warranty. Now my car is 120Kmi and still have battery and drive train warranty until May of this year. And I am getting free charging at work so cost me nothing to drive. Actually I have been driving electric since 2013 with a Leaf, then 2020 Tesla, and I have work place charging all these 9 years (3 different company). Probably saved something like $20K in gas and oil change. So far no regret going electric and no regret getting a used P85D.

    • @jonwang999
      @jonwang999 Před 2 lety +1

      2014 P85D at 120Kmi, estimate ~8% degradation. One antedotal data point. YMMV. BTW my 2013 Leaf also at about 120Kmi has 33% degradation.

      Mine has 76k miles and has original battery pack still under warranty till 23. The most it will charge now is 243mi. Which is not bad and you don't hardly ever need to fully charge it except for a long trip and even then you don't have to.
