I kinda want to see the aftermath of this just to confirm he's actually alright and not truly having a panic attack He's so good at performing that I'm genuinely concerned
You should see Ben Platt then. There's a part in the musical Dear Evan Hansen where he's doing a speech and drops the notecards he has in his hands trying to read since he has severe anxiety and he's sitting there on the ground for like 30 seconds seamlessly looking like he's having an actual panic attack. Like it looks so real that I'm sure that during the years they've performed someone from the audience has either gotten onto the stage or yelled out if he was okay.
Okay, four points: 1. I didn't realize that this song could be sadder?? Like, wow, okay, I didn't need my heart anyway 2. The portrayal of anxiety and a panic attack is done so well, just the little movements and that one thing he does where it's kind of like a shoulder roll? Wow, like, it's almost painful to watch, but it's so good 3. *wiggles hands* PT CRUISER & *points dramatically at floor* BED are A+ moments 4. George could stab me 10 times and then push me into a ditch and I'd probably thank him
@b a s i c a l l y . m e And that scares me. It's so real. I haven't had one of these moments yet (cause I've never been to a party...), but I can just imagine myself locked in a bathroom hiding from it. Maybe not having quite as much of a mental breakdown, but still. Especially if I'd just lost by best friend. George Salazar is one of the best actors I've yet to come across. I heard this song only two days ago because of youtube autoplay while I was listening to Book of Mormon (which in my opinion is the best play ever, although this one is a very close second), and I've already seen bootlegs of the entire play and memorized this song and the opening number. I don't have a problem you do shut up 😂 It makes me so sad that you can only get tickets for this for the broadway show. I mean I'm really happy for the cast for making it to Broadway, but I live on the complete opposite side of the US. Hope they rent their rights soon! Although I can't imagine anyone other than George playing this part...
1.Those high notes!! 2. I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY 3. This is the closest I'm going to get to seeing BMC Update: I'm seeing BMC in August! Congrats on going to Broadway!!
Izaya Uke Orihara Just title it something completely rando and have a thumbnail not even close to be more chill then come back here and tell the title of the video
I love the fact this has a slower tempo than the original one. It gives more depth and it has an emotional build-up which gives me, the listener, a rOLLERCOASTERofEMOTIONS
joe said that when casting for musicals, he looks for actors before singers. not to discredit george’s singing ability at all, he is absolutely amazing, but i can see what joe means here and why george was casted. he’s phenomenal at not only hitting the notes but making you feel the emotion behind every one, at channeling the character, at fantastically portraying every sentiment behind the words physically. what he shows here is that he’s a phenomenal actor, his singing is an added bonus. that is why i love joe and george.
cosmicaddress i love Joe's vision. not to discredit singers, of course, it's easier to get vocal coaches and to improve the singing ability of someone than to cast someone with poor acting ability. when your goal is to tell a story, acting should be put first. it's musical theatre, after all, not theatrical music.
thank you for this perfect description. i was ganna say: i actually swear George was crying at the end and it made me almost start crying. also george salazar being such an increadible actor and singer makes me wanna have a career just like him.
George is also extremely nice and undoubtedly funny, on and off of the stage. At the stage door, he tries his best to make small talk and take pictures with EVERYONE, despite being on a restricted time, he's very compassionate and takes compliments with so much modesty. He's phenomenal.
it's funny cause I have a friend Michael and my school was having a fire drill and the teacher asked if everyone was here and I shouted "Michael's in the bathroom"
I admire the fact that you can tell that George had really gone out of his way to improve. Not just his voice, but the way he presents the character of Michael
fun fact - throwing water on your face is a tipp skill u learn in dbt to cope with panic attacks, anxiety, self harm, and dissociation - no one asked but I like this "fun" fact so
yeah every time im having my 'bad days' i spend most of my time in the bathroom and i feel better when i come out after 2 hours. water saves me every single time
Aaaaaaaaa I have really bad anxiety so I get panic attacks easily and George did such a great job portraying the tics and emotions. The shoulder rolls and almost desperately picking at the grout. Also at the "knock knock" part... Sensory overload was apllied correctly and made me breakdown. It was probably only one person knocking at the door but it feels like so much and you start getting really scared, upset, and/or angry. Stomping the foot on the floor and the overall display of a panic attack was done so well. I applaud you Saladbar now just stop making me cry.
I don't think anyone was actually at the door. He imagined it, in reality it was just his heart beating like crazy because he was having a panic attack. That's why as soon as he splashed water in his face and calmed down a little, he couldn't hear it anymore. Which just makes it even sadder.
My friend linked me this because we were messing around and I was acting like I was gonna become a jerk, and she sent me this so I'd 'remember who I am' XD
Okay I have anxiety and panic attacks and the way George portrays the characters anxiety and panic attacks.......WoAH he's improved so much it's almost realistic 10/10
Ok. Lets face it. The way that he is expressing Michael’s emotion is amazing. I no longer see George in this video, I see Michael. He is such an amazing phenomenal actor. He needs a tony nomination if it goes to broadway.
It’s insane how this song is the first song to make me feel extremely emotional without having to already be sad, then click play on the song. (Hopefully that makes sense lol) Throughout this entire video, my heart began racing, because George is so incredible with putting a performance that makes the audience antsy and in awe. According to some comments, he also did small ticks in this performance that someone with anxiety may do? I just love how someone can destroy themselves on a stage and have the audience go through the same emotions.
The Forgotten Portrait not to burst your bubble my dude but its just good acting. As an actor its your job to spill your heart out on the floor to help others a.) know they aren’t alone and b.) teach those who have never been there. Its why I act! Lol
I love how they changed the tempo just for George version of MITB It's kinda interesting to see 'cause, at first, this song was more like a goofy, funny song, (the original version) until George came in (it's like that, funny but bitter song at the same time) And now it became the most sad song in BMC soundtrack
I just Love the way he shows what Michael is feeling. All the pain and sadness. You can really see it and my heart hurts everytime becaus it's so emotional. I think he is my role model. Some day I want to be as good as he is. ♡
This is why I love to see actors return to roles. This version is a million times more emotionally crushing than the last time he profound it. He's grown so much as an actor and performer I'm crying
I love how you can feel his overflowing emotions: his anger, sadness, every emotion that Michael Mell is feeling, you can feel it right through the screen. I actually shed a tear on this one, no joke. aLSO I WANT TO GIVE GEORGE A HUG, GEEZUS.
I wasn't ready to be hurt in such a way, but wow. George is so incredibly talented, and he has improved so much. I absolutely love his display of emotions and the ability to move other's as well. Definitely a brilliant actor of great talent.
He’s giving this 800% and they’re in a rehearsal space with shit acoustics. I think to him no matter where he is physically, he’s in that bathroom. He truly is an artist
I cried a little when I first listened to this song on the album. I cried a little more when I watched a video from the show of him singing this. I can't stop crying from watching this. His performance as Michael is going to be insane this year
I want to give George a hug because I don’t think it’s that humanly possible to put in so much emotion by just “acting”. Something is wrong and my bby needs a big hug.😂😂😂 it literally concerns me.
Honestly, I feel that this performance is a million times better, from the picking at the bath tub to the simple voice rising, it makes it more intense and gets people one edge. Also at one point, I was convinced that George was crying which made it all seem so real and come to life. If I could ever go to a performance, I definitely would.
OMG THAT WAS THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF MICHAEL IN THE BATHROOM IVE EVER SEEN AND I WATCHED LIKE FIFTEEN OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE GEORGE WITH A PASSION 😘❤️😍
As a person with anxiety, I can confirm that this is 100% what an anxiety attack feels like and George portrays it perfectly while still being able to sing like an angel. He has said before that it is a panic attack on stage and I knew that as soon as I heard the song. He gets every part of it down from the small things like tilting his head, whipping his hands on his Jean's, and picking at the bathtub. But he also has the big things down such as when he is freaking out about things that dont seem like they have anything to do with the situation ("is there a sadder sight than..."*points to himself*, "he must be a stoner" "God he's such a looser!") Because all of this happens in a panic attack and I truly applaud joe and george for portraying this so perfectly
this song is the one I send people when I try to explain my panic attacks and anxiety... it explains what it feels like to lose everything and everyone even if its not the end of the world it feels like it... the first time I had to say goodbye to my BFF for her going home (which is like a good 100+ miles) this was the song I sang on the way back... and George will always be one of the best for this song... bless him so much.
The thing about this song is that I don't normally cry when watching movies or anything like that. But this song is so amazing and George is such a good actor that I cried. And that is saying something.
crying so fucking bad OOF. too real. mitb itself is good, but the best parts of the song rely on the performer. the nervous tics and small details george emphasizes are incredible and so realistic. this is what makes mitb so hard to watch sometimes but you can't look away. it's a real panic attack happening onstage and anybody who's dealt with these situations even once can relate to this and see their own anxiety-driven habits in this performance. i'm gonna be bawling my eyes out when i see this live.
I love how much more emotional his performance has become, and how slowed down and in-depth into how he's feeling compared to the OCR is really noticeable. I can barely go 15 seconds into the performance and George makes me want to bawl my eyes out. It's just that good.
I think he honestly nailed the panic attack more this time around! It's a lot more believable and that much more emotional. He improved in such a short time.
Never knew THIS WOULD GET MORE DEPRESSING!!! Like, his acting is literally on point, and at the same time his singing is absolutely perfect, specially when he was crying. Great job George!!!
I LOVE GEORGE SO MUCH! He definatly helped create Michael's feeling in this and the slower tempo really helped too! He also has the sad, uneasy vibe which I love he can portray. YOU GO SALAZAR!!!!
I kinda want to see the aftermath of this just to confirm he's actually alright and not truly having a panic attack
He's so good at performing that I'm genuinely concerned

Sydney Parker Ohhh that makes so much sense :o
Poptarts I agree
Sydney Parker I saw it live a few weeks ago (It was amazing). They do the slower tempo during the actual show :)

Britney Creamer he should be on Broadway! Cause ya know this is an off broadway musical.

Aaaaaaaaa

Anxiety attacks*
Philip Hamilton Panic Attacks and Anxiety attacks are basically the same thing smh🤦🏼♀️
I don't think anyone was actually at the door. He imagined it, in reality it was just his heart beating like crazy because he was having a panic attack. That's why as soon as he splashed water in his face and calmed down a little, he couldn't hear it anymore. Which just makes it even sadder.
If this musical doesn’t win a tony I’ll lose it
LOOK AT THIS PERFOMANCE
Carol Koski George deserves best supporting actor.
it's premiering off-broadway though
It sadly isn't eligible for tonys because it's off-broadway. The only way to get nominated is to be a broadway show.
coffeeandchocolate I second this opinion
lets hope for drama desk awards!

He’s just so good.

Okay I refuse to believe that he doesnt cry everytime he sings it
Okay I have anxiety and panic attacks and the way George portrays the characters anxiety and panic attacks.......WoAH he's improved so much it's almost realistic 10/10

There is no doubt in the world that nobody can play Michale better than George.
And whoever gave this a dislike, Where is your heart?!
And just when I thought I couldn't cry any harder...
JEREMY, LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!
George Salazar is phenomenal. What a talent. He conveys so much emotion in this song. I can’t hear anyone else sing this song. It will always be him.
This is why I love to see actors return to roles. This version is a million times more emotionally crushing than the last time he profound it. He's grown so much as an actor and performer I'm crying
those opening piano notes are enough to send my soul flying
I love how you can feel his overflowing emotions: his anger, sadness, every emotion that Michael Mell is feeling, you can feel it right through the screen. I actually shed a tear on this one, no joke.
aLSO I WANT TO GIVE GEORGE A HUG, GEEZUS.
MY BOY
MY BABY BOY
You realized what you've done
Reasons why George salazar is a god
I wasn't ready to be hurt in such a way, but wow. George is so incredibly talented, and he has improved so much. I absolutely love his display of emotions and the ability to move other's as well. Definitely a brilliant actor of great talent.
me:oh no this is gonna make me feel bad
George Salazar:" I-"
me: OH YEP THERE IT IS,MY HEART IS BROKEN ;-;
Oh, look who's about to cry now. (It's me.)
you can even see the sadness on his face after the first chorus my goodness my boy is improving
The knocking parts where they all start yelling and from then on, its like you can feel his pain its so convincing. George Salazar is truly amazing.
Finally, an actor who shows amazing raw emotion on stage. It’s pretty hard to find
He’s giving this 800% and they’re in a rehearsal space with shit acoustics. I think to him no matter where he is physically, he’s in that bathroom. He truly is an artist
bold of me to assume watching this for the 100th time wouldn't make me cry
As someone who has anxiety, his portrayal of a Panic Attack is soooo good 😍
I know didn't George could get better but I was wrong
Heart = Broken
Mind = Messed with
Emotions = Everywhere
Eyes = *Crying*
Be More Chill? More like
*HAVE MORE CHILLS*
Every time George hits the tub or the floor his floofs just fly in the air it’s amazing
He is such a brilliant actor god give this man every role in broadway
I cried a little when I first listened to this song on the album. I cried a little more when I watched a video from the show of him singing this. I can't stop crying from watching this. His performance as Michael is going to be insane this year
HOW does George make this performance even more heartbreaking that it was before- genuinely didn’t know that was a thing
His voice is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and his acting is breathtaking!!!! BEAUTIFUL JOB, GEORGE!!!!
This is exactly what I wanted Michael in the Bathroom to look like on stage. Exactly this.
3:09 The spit though.
Rylie I mean when ur having a fake panic attack :/ lol
Definitely King George-in, so much passion in the performance!
I want to give George a hug because I don’t think it’s that humanly possible to put in so much emotion by just “acting”. Something is wrong and my bby needs a big hug.😂😂😂 it literally concerns me.
I cry every time. EVERY TIME. Especially when he just stands there with his lip quivering like ugh I'll give you a hug and be your friend it's okay
his fake crying broke my heart. i need to hug this man
Honestly, I feel that this performance is a million times better, from the picking at the bath tub to the simple voice rising, it makes it more intense and gets people one edge. Also at one point, I was convinced that George was crying which made it all seem so real and come to life. If I could ever go to a performance, I definitely would.
i've never seen this song performed before i've only heard it. yes george!!!
OMG THAT WAS THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF MICHAEL IN THE BATHROOM IVE EVER SEEN AND I WATCHED LIKE FIFTEEN OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE GEORGE WITH A PASSION 😘❤️😍

I wish I had the words to describe how much I love and adore George Salazar
God this song is so relatable and George has improved a lot and the song itself has improved I’m tearing up someone hold me.
He's so insanely talented wOW
this song is the one I send people when I try to explain my panic attacks and anxiety... it explains what it feels like to lose everything and everyone even if its not the end of the world it feels like it... the first time I had to say goodbye to my BFF for her going home (which is like a good 100+ miles) this was the song I sang on the way back... and George will always be one of the best for this song... bless him so much.
the acting was so powerful.. i could feel his pain through the screen.
My gosh this song and the performance makes me sad every time.
Especially when he stops to cry!!!!
was anybody else moved to tears by his amazing acting and fabulous singing?!
I think he honestly nailed the panic attack more this time around! It's a lot more believable and that much more emotional.
He improved in such a short time.
i want this played at my funeral
Never knew THIS WOULD GET MORE DEPRESSING!!! Like, his acting is literally on point, and at the same time his singing is absolutely perfect, specially when he was crying. Great job George!!!

I LOVE GEORGE SO MUCH! He definatly helped create Michael's feeling in this and the slower tempo really helped too! He also has the sad, uneasy vibe which I love he can portray. YOU GO SALAZAR!!!!
Its so much more emotional than it used to be
This is so hard to listen too.. let alone watch...
like an anxiety attack turned into a song...
