what do you think are the differences in growing up gay as a millennial vs gen z?
for gen z: being gay is chill, people are more accepting, men are more secure in showing their feminine sides. for millennials: alot of homophobic undertones in media and culture that made it harder to accept yourself in general. glad it's changed!
As a millennial “that’s so gay” was used as an insult. It seems to be used less now, used in an ironic way by gay people to reclaim, or when used insultingly is less acceptable to do.
Millennials grew up with almost no representation. It started to slowly be available as young adults but Gen z has many shows and movies to choose from and podcast 😉 which means millennials have it now too just at an older age.
The lgbtq issue that millennials grew up during was gay marriage and George W Bush trying to put it in the constitution that gay marriage would never be legalized. Gen Z is growing up with heightened transphobic laws and book bans (in the U.S.). Gen Z also has grown up with more legal protections in a lot of states as they enter the workforce whereas millennials had to watch famous gay people get fired publicly and lose their jobs for that.
@@isabel116 things have not changed 😂 people are still quiet about their sexuality, homophobic undertones within the media and tv/online personalities still exist, and the world is still overly homophobic and transphobic as it's ever been. GenZ is just delusional about it. That's the difference bwtn several generations.
genz are so much cooler than us old millennials
Gen z is more chill and accepting being gay for millennials people are homophobic especially on media
I've followed Soph on tiktok for years but I have never really heard her talk at length like this before, she has so much insight to offer and seems like such a genuine person. happy pride :)
THIS 🫶
She has a podcast!! The Happy Humans Podcast
She talks in length a lot in her yt vlogs!
She does youtube too!
She’s so genuine and sweet… so in love with her uhg🥺😭
me too.she is soooo attractive
love that you're bringing lots of different people with completely different backgrounds that at the end of the day still have something in common!!!!!! been loving it!
I love how prepared mal is, and how well thought out the questions are and the whole format with the game at the end, very well done💓👏🏼
🥹🥹thank you!! but i can’t take all the credit mathilde works so hard to make all of this happen as well!!
As someone born in 1967 my hope is that things just keep improving for all LGBTQ+ people. Listening to these podcasts from day one has only reenforced my belief that despite recent setbacks we are still heading in a good direction.
People like Soph who have grown up on show in a way my generation could never have imagined and still managing to be that good influence we all need, gives me hope. x
I'm in the UK so wonderful podcasts like these give me an insight into an America that is that little bit more hopeful than the media normally feeds us.
There is yes a lot of horrendous stuff going on, as a trans woman I am always aware of it.
thank you so much for sharing. it makes me happy to hear that our corner of the internet is a positive, uplifting place despite what is going on over here. i appreciate you being with us since day one ❤️🏳️🌈
She is such a sweetheart.
I just subscribed to Soph's channel. Soph Mosca is gentle, and insightful. It's lovely to hear Gen Z lesbian. She will grow, get to a different platform and find a partner there. Give it 3 years, she'll find the lady of her life.
Soph is so sweet and well spoken
Just known about this podcast. It's so lovely to watch & know about different stories. Especially me being in the closet....... ❤Greetings from SOUTH AFRICA!🇿🇦
hiiii how cool to be connected together even though we’re so far! thank you for watching and being part of our community🫶🏼🌈
Thank you so much too🤗✨️
She is such a sweetheart with so much insight! Our paths are so similar, so validating to hear this.
It's OK to not be OK all the time, True. Love this convo. Just being introduced to Soph as I'm not on TikTok. Interesting to see the GenZ perspective. Soph seems to have a good head on her shoulders.
This was a sweet episode. I really enjoyed it!
An other amazing podcast, thank you ❤ It seems like we all at some point in our lives get to the point when we just have to stop what we are doing, almost reinvent ourselves to become a better version of ourselves. I always said life is a school....all good and bad stuff happen in it are, looking back, just lessons to learn from. Happy reinventing everyone🎉 it might be painful at times...but worth it❤
We just love your podcast. Please keep up the wonderful work you guys are doing. It is soo important
Heyy loved this one . Been regularly watching your podcasts and recently subscribed , can't wait to see you bring more Gen Zs on hehe 😅❤
Mal thank you for doing this, you're a great interviewer!! please never stop producing!!!

🫶🏼🫶🏼
YES thank you for Soph! 😊
Really great interview!
So glad how the times have changed and I've been able to help a little bit with that supporting the HRC
I knew I was gay when I was 13 but that was 1973 I didn't come out till 1990
Your podcasts are so important I'm so glad you have so many young women you are so comfortable with who they are
I love soph so much. I feel like I’m growing up and learning about myself alongside her
The way she is talking about heartbroken after avery left believe me if i ever got a partner like her i am never going to leave no matter what❤
Great episode thanks girls 💖 my favorite part is always the you ghost or uhaul lmao you keep finding great ones
I am literally screaming!!!!! This made my whole day!!!!! ❤🌈
been waiting for her so long
Loved this thanks for the podcast ❤.
You’re such a great interviewer, Mal!! This podcast has literally become my favorite
thank you🥹🥹 thank you for being here🌈
@@MadeItOutPodcast I wish I could be open about being a gay guy it's embarrassing
What a gorgeous and lovely guest loved it ❤️ another great episode 😊 happy pride 🏳️🌈
As the saying goes..it’s ok to not be ok. I love soph and it’s cool to hear her story more in depth. I forgot she lived in Delray Beach for a little, that’s where I live. Another great podcast. I do kinda wish it was a little longer, but still great and mal you’re great per usual too lol also apologies for that all over the place comment
no apologies!! thank you so much for sharing your thoughts 🫶🏼
She lost me on the Android thing. I could care less what kind of phone someone has, it's not my phone 😑
I am from Europe and I don't get it at all :D why not android I prefer them :D
Yeah... I specifically came to the comments to see why not having an iphone is a thing. I'm not from the US so I have no idea
Bring Fletcher ❤
did gen z not grow up watching lesbian CZcamsrs like Shannon, cammie, dulceida, rose and rosie etc? what a shame.
I’m gen z and yes we did
I guess it depends on people
I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them. Sincerely, a 1992 millennial
2001 here, I had my awakening when I watch stevie boebi lol
you have to remember that Gen Z goes all the way back to ‘96 so there are definitely differences in what people watched. As a ‘98 baby all the gays were watching them for me but I can’t say the same of my siblings who were born in ‘02
Arielle too!
This was a really interesting episode, interesting to see the differences between the generations.
“This isn’t one tree hill, leave them alone” 😂😂😂
Loved the episode ❤️
Loved this!!!!!
I love how Mal makes a safe space for everyone to be authentically themselves ✨
Loved this podcast like always ❤
so happy 🥹
I truly love her ❤ her style , and her voice specially.
Yahh I've been on the Soph TikTok eraa since the day one tho.. and finally she here ❤
I’m a straight married mom 😆 and I find soph so captivating & refreshing. Watching someone who I see as so young, starting her life, figuring out the normal life crap and being so vulnerable …is really so inspiring. Even tho she says things aren’t how she thought they should be, it all comes in time. Enjoy the moments, feel the heartbreak & the happiness. I hope she knows people do SEE her as a good human ❤
fantastic!!
I absolutely love her!! 💗💗💗
U guys chose the right person to have on ur podcast cuz she’s so well spoken and mature ❤, love soph been following her for a while and a lot of people know what she’s gone through and how she handled them 😊 I connect with everything she says cuz I had similar experiences as Gen Z, for people who are commenting about the representation and that she should’ve known them and all well no, cuz I didn’t either, everyone has different experiences and only big name people like Ellen would be the only person u would know. I get it, especially if u never looked into it obviously u wouldn’t know. Love soph and I’m so glad she did this!
Wow! Duration of this podcast is 36:51. My love, twin flame, whom I haven’t talked to in a long time was born in ‘87. 36+51=87. I’m 3 years older. She’s 36. And 651 is the area code of where I’m from, St. Paul MN.
I love her soooo much, she’s so insightful. I’ve been following Soph since almost the beginning and it’s interesting to hear how things really were in the background back then. Also I’ve never heard of this podcast before and now I have to binge all of it. It’s refreshing to have a host that asks intelligent questions and actually lets their guest speak.
plus size merch i beg of yooouuu I am obsessed with this drop!
😯 my favorite girl, soph! I love this lovely video ❤
😎😃😊😜😍😘💖🌹 This pod is like watching someone get the golden buzzer. It makes me cheer and cry and just feel good inside. Thank you so much.
awe this is so sweet 🥹 thank you for watching!
Am I the first here ? Anyhow I love this podcast, I listen to all of them without missing an episode.❤
this means so much🥹 thank you for listening and being part of the mio family!!
she’s so beautiful
As a European, I don't understand the android thing, can you guys explain me why is that a bad thing in the us?
same 😅
Bc iPhones are better
@@alexandria65 yeah but they're so expensive, unless you have to work with your phone like for example influencers, I don't think you really need that
But that's like the general European mentality idk
I was trying to figure out if it's like, ghost because you only want to date people with a similar level of income? Or because you need people to prioritize a fancier phone over other ways of managing money? Or is it a stereotype about the type of people who use Androids? (I know some incredibly broke people with iPhones and affluent people with Androids so I don't think it's really reflective of income or ability to manage finances)
@@luciadrago949 I think she was joking in a sarcastic way, the whole iOS-android thing seems to be an inside joke or stereotype among some young people, not really serious.
I just love this
I wasn't really familiar with her but she is so loveable, cool and collected.
I absolutely love soph
I remember watching her and her ex avery on TikTok living their best lives and being so happy and me in my twenties wishing I was like them with such happiness and being so carefree being lgbt+ they inspired me so much.
She's a gem.
i had to google what the stereotype is about people with androids and i'm still not sure if it's about income disparity or something else
Would love to get Mal from ultimatum on here and Hayley Kiyoko ❤
This are for my OGs,I think I speak for all of us when I say we gotta pay more attention cuz our girl has been through shit n we didn't even notice it,like for real💯we has got to pay more attention the flags have been there and no one had a clew we gotta tighten up.What makes it wores is that she hid the real shit she been going through so good yll,but not shocked that's cancer for u babes.
Loved it
what's the thing against Androids I don't get it, I hate iphones, I finally tried one after all these years of people telling me how "amazing iphones are". Wanted to return it within 1 day, kept it for the full 2 weeks, gave people who asked me what I didn't like it massive detailed lists, one of the main things is I just couldn't do as much with the assistant when driving. Also the lack of customization, I currently have a custom launcher to minimize the visual clutter, can't do that on iphone.
Fun conversation as always but im confused about the android part, why? 😂
Funny thing is for me it wasn't TikTok but an online chat bot RPG site called Character AI, I suspected I might be a lesbian for awhile, but when I roleplayed in "girl love" scenarios, it felt right. It felt more natural than the hetero RPs, with straight boyfriend-girlfriend ones, I felt as though I were playing a character that wasn't me, but woman love woman RPs felt natural. If that isn't the most Gen Z way to realize one's sexual orientation, haha. It's not just romantic stuff though, there's also action, adventure, horror (unfortunately half the time the NSFW-filter blocks violence so you're better off doing romantic RPs (just be sure to go heavy on the euphemisms to not get the filter). This is the first I've heard of Soph, btw, she seems awesome
Ok the only thing I don't like is the fact she said she would ghost android users like what does that have to do with anything
One thing I fear about dating is a heartbreak 🥺🥺 that's why am still single 🤣🤣 happy seeing everyone being cheated on 🙌. But again sometimes I feel like I want to experience on of those heartbreaks that Will Make me run mad and be taken to rehab so that I feel you people go through 🤣😂😂😂 am such an idiot
Anyways thanks #madeItOut for always alerting us peace and love ✌️✌️
Now I feel like she needs to do one with Avery
She’s so beautiful 😍😍😍
it’s interesting to see other people having gay siblings and how that doesn’t seem to be a reason that effects their coming out, whereas my brother came out around six years ago which ultimately resulted in me suppressing my own sexuality
What part of New Hampshire are you from. I used to live in Franklin
The easier thing to do is so relatable
‼️
What is wrong with having an android? Can someone please explain that to me? I am genuinely confused how that could be a reason to not date. But I´m also from Europe, so maybe that´s why I don´t get it. 35:25
Good thing I watched this episode because who would have thought that I‘m hot only because I‘m a European with an Android 😂
💀💀
i love soph
my crush is here so I clicked ❤
I love her ❤.
Next Avery Cyrus
I love her, she's a good representation for Gen Z to be your guest and one of the only younger lesbians that I follow on social media. I just don't understand the Android hate? I have an Android that costs more than the newest iPhone, and an iPhone for work. Android is by far more superior, it works seamlessly with any of my ecosystems for work & play, highly customizable, has more useful apps (the majority of which is free), and has more varieties. With my iPhone I needed to set up a lot of things just to get it to work with my system, it's just such a hassle, and not highly customizable. The only thing on paper that iPhone does better is probably the CPU and it's not even noticeable. I know it's a game, but out of all red flags she'd ghost people with certain phone really Sorry for ranting about unimportant things, I'm on my period. That being said, I still love her and wish her the best!
Not a rant at all! This girl is so out of touch. I agree with everything you said but for the kids these days, looking and sounding trendy is more important than basic logic.
@whodis2792 Thanks. I feel like the younger generations are more accepting of bigger things like sexuality, gender roles, pronouns etc, but at the same time they can be very judgemental towards trivial things, sometimes it's like having misplaced priorities and focus.
The android thing is a joke. Chill.
What was the last question on U-Haul?
Can someone explain the Android thing? How does it matter?
Saludos desde venezuela, vengo de se regalan dudas ❤. Muy bueno el podcast.
bienvenidos!!!!!
biiiig fan!!!!
What's wrong with android?
❤soph❤
soooph i love uuu
So beautiful
Why she didn't talk about Anna at all?
My Instagram and CZcams accounts told me I was gay in 2020 😂❤🌈
Given that this is Pride month, it would be really nice if you gave some recognition to the Gays and Lesbians that paved the way for the younger generations. Just a few decades ago the LGBT community members could risk being arrested and jailed for expressing themselves. Do the young people today have any idea what there forebearers endured so your experience would be easier? Gays back then risked losing their children, their jobs, their families if they were outed. I'm so glad things are different today, but please don't forget those who suffered and demanded justice and freedom so your lives would be smoother today.
God bless tiktok!! ❤
hey you need old lesbien to tell you their journey out....was not the milkey way like you think it is hard on the younger genzzzz.... we have untold stories that you need to learn to it real but not for granted because tomorrow is up to everyone to do your share
Of course i like yo wear the normal kind dresses if i found a cute one!
The priest snd do on want still the Monopoly to wear Harry Potter style dresses!
I loved that you had her on the podcast.
But I wished you would encouraged her to seek a therapist. Maybe you did after the show
The sentence: I learned to be OK with not being OK all the time. Made feel sad and concerned that she was alone with her thoughts.
My second thought was her ability to create a healthy friendship circle in Tampa. She's a public figure in this new media landscape.
Olivia Rodrigo's song Vampire comes to mind.
I'm hoping you keep in touch with her, and share your wisdom as an older woman.
Soph actually goes to a therapist (:
@@alexandria65 Good. I guess I missed that.
I actually found out that I’m a lesbian because of tik tok in 2020 😂
These kids here openly judging people who use Androids and finding them ''icky'' is so bizarre to me. Is that meant to make her cool? I find these sorts of people icky.
It’s not meant to make anyone cool, it’s just a preference. I didn’t like that my ex had an android. Wouldn’t make me ghost but it was annoying we couldn’t connect in the same way my whole family and friend group did. Just felt odd.
@@louisenich In an attempt to defend her comment, you've made this worse. How could you feel ''odd'' and struggle to connect with your then partner just because they had a different brand of phone? Huh??? So strange.
@@louisenich it clearly isn't about connecting on the same level for her as she stated "unless they're European, then it's cool".
@@Shamili1801 Exactly, thank you.
It’s a joke lmaoooo my god
What's the big deal about Android? Good grief!
I fear i’m in love with her
