  • The video is about DUO480 or "Jigsaw". It is a wood/Epoxy composite construction, perfect for amateur construction. It is no cruiser, I call it a cruisette. The praxis with this boat has shown that a-symmetrical hulls, parallel rig, and single rudder can work.
    Plans available at Duckworks Magazine and ikarus342000.com/DUO480Cpage.htm

    What a beautiful, sleek, modern looking craft!
    I particularly enjoyed seeing the construction of the hulls, meticulously precise.

    t'd create a small level deck on the bow of each hull. not as pretty, but makes managing the anchor easier.

      Hi Alfredo, funny I have so many builders of my boats I do not know. You are one of them. Do you have photos from your boat please send to my email address please bernd@ikarus342000.com.

    I love the simplicity of this boat if I could afford it I would order plans immediately. Any information on the speed comparison with the biplane rig compared to a Gunther or Bahamian rig I live near a river so the shirt masts are ideal for going under bridges

      Thanks for the compliments. I have no direct comparison of the speed differences because every of the shown three boats are situated in different countrys. Namely Finland, Croatia and New Zealand.

      @@ikarus342000 that's okay I would probably build it that way anyway,i like the open furling,masts like sailing with two self tacking jibs.i have experience on small tugboats but no sailing experience so I like the simplicity of that

    amazing boat and rig, can it sail upwind?

    • @ikarus342000
      @ikarus342000  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Of course, she can. For parallel (biplane) rig boats, this is paramount because otherwise the lee ward's sail is blanketed. So the boat has to be fast so that the apparent wind through the speed of the boat comes from forward to a degree. You can see it also in one of the videos.

      @@ikarus342000 Thanks for explanation. Boat seems to have windage but with apparent wind this explains it.

    Hi Bernd! Here in Brazil, your plans are still expensive. Dollar is 5 to 1. ANd the plans represent a nice amount of the boat value! I can redesing your webpage, and we can exchenage by a boat plan! What do you think?! I am amazed by your drawings, do u hva an email? Hope to hear from you! Best regards!

      Hi Andre, thanks for passing by. Compare with other designers then you will see that my plans are cheap. I have also to eat. See your other email conversation, Cheers Bernd

      @@ikarus342000 Amazing talking to you, thanks for the attention, your plans, compared to other boats, are really cheap. You are a revolutionary and a warior. The ECOs are really a revolution in the desing of catamarans, the junction of the boat bananas with a solid roof, is really something to look at. But due to time, costs, need, i have opted to make a Strandek Plus - 650, monohull, from Wojtek Kasprzak, the plans are free, and in these days, little things are making huge differences! Ahoyy Good winds!

    can you cross the atlantic on this boat safely?

    • @ikarus342000
      @ikarus342000  Před 4 lety +4

      There were a lot of small rowing boats and sailing boats crossing the Atlantic. I am against such experiments. So, no, the DUO 480 is a coastal cruiser

      I read this in wonderment. The plans are extreme cheap. Besides, the plans stay my property. The clients buy only a license to built one boat. The drawings are only lent for this purpose. Any breach of this agreement would be prosecuted. What you are asking is outrageous.
