- The Porsche 911 GTS is back. With more power, keener suspension and changes to the aerodynamics, the GTS becomes the sharpest 911 you can currently buy; not quite a GT3, but sharper and edgier than a regular 911 Carrera.
The GTS can be had as a Targa, Cabriolet or Coupe, with two or four-wheel drive and with a manual or dual-clutch auto gearbox. We head to Wales to test the four-wheel drive coupe with a PDK automatic gearbox. At around £100,000 and with 444bhp, not only does the GTS go up against the likes of the Jaguar F-Type and BMW M6 but, as we discover, is so good that it could also challenge the Audi R8 and McLaren 570 S.

There's only so much speed you can deploy on the road. I think this thing being slower than the competition works in its favor in real life.
I have it and I love it!! Best allround car!! I use it for work, picking up my twins from preschool, weekend getaways, track days and more!!! Mine is Guards Red!!

I'm a fan of the GTS variants across all models. They really are the sweet spot. Apart form the sound, this is something I could get behind again.

911 is a better all round car than either of these
the 911 looks better, performs better, handles better, and catches more eyes than all those, the only thing they hae over the 911 is sound. and the front of the r8 looks WAAAAY better (however the rear of the 911 is waaay better) but its your opinion
no, actually it doesn't on any of those elements. ever noticed how far back of the pack 911s are on Nurburgring times (except for a $200k GT3)? The The AMG GT S, Jag SVR, BMW M4 GTS, ZL1, Mustang GT R , Caddy ATS-V are all faster, better looking and less money. You've been successfully propagandized.
911s are "back of the pack"? Lmaoooo what a stupid thing to say. Even the 911 Turbo S has beaten pretty much all of the cars you mentioned on the Nurburgring. Funniest part of the comment is the fact you said "You've been successfully propagandized." after mentioning Nurburgring lap times as if they aren't used by manufacturers solely as a marketing tool to fool kiddies like you. 911 is faster than all of its competition 100% of the time. Let's talk about the real world, not Nurburgring times (even though the 911 aces that, too).
991.1 2016 GTS right before they add Turbo is simply the best GTS ever. Perfect combination of power and comfort with amazing engine sound!

Matej M my father had the previous GTS and now has a 570s. Can't compare it tbh!!
I have driven this, the old one and a 570s. The facelift is a hell of a lot quicker then the NA car, really savage acceleration, no matter the ground or situation. From driving fast on street point of view, I don't think the 570s is faster or more enjoyable. That AWD is awesome and the car feels so capable. On the other hand the 570s feels a lot more special, it's a supercar... my choice would still be the GTS. More usable and more fun when going speeds you don't immediately lose your license for.

Glad Matt at least references in passing the turbo economy or lack thereof. Downsized turbo engines might be more efficient on a test bed at light cruise but in the real world, and certainly in a 911 when the car's driven as intended, they are no more efficient than NA.
Its more about emissions/Engine CC than actual fuel economy. Turbocharged engine’s tend to extract more energy from the fuel, lowering the waste byproducts whilst allowing for smaller displacement and not compromising power figures. Also torque is a nice bonus.

Holy crap, beautiful footage - but with that much ambience music in the sound it was hard to hear it all. Was running this over wall mounted speakers and sound direct setting, which usually is good for speech - idk perhaps its just me who had this issue?.
Anyway the GTS looks great.
It was really hard to understand. I only got 50% with ear buds.
Really got to do a launch and get on it a bit more. I mean really we barely heard the car.. I can read the spec's on Porsche's website..

in investment point gts is special edition and after time price will go up! for sure.....570s ...its faster no dout about that but it will not go up....as i see the 12c price drop a lot...really a lot....you can check both cars prices in sellcarsites

Would take a RWD manual if I couldn't get my hands on a GT2. A Carrera 2 GTS manual would be the next best option, would rather it than a GT3 RS or 911R.

Why the 4 and auto?? GTS is about rear wheel with manual.
The Mclaren 570 starts at $187.300 but the 911 gts at $119.000 so not comparable... the 911 turbo would be comparable against the 570.
Porsche are on quite a roll recently and we should all be happy.

I just imagined I bought a coupe, manual, rear wheel drive. That convertible is wonky and wobbley when transitioning.
