Unfortunately, most Nigerians enjoy the status quo. We are not in a hurry for a change, even the so called educated ones. Many jobless youths will either not vote or cast their votes for either of the two geriatric candidates who are way past their sell by dates. From Tinubu's gesture and those around him, it is obvious that he didn't choose Shettima, Shettima was super-imposed on him; more like paying him (Tinubu) back in his own coin.
The choice of Shettima greatly diminishes his chances. I was rooting for him earlier, but this move has left a bitter taste in my mouth. They don’t come off as a dynamic duo in any way. First the Muslim-Muslim ticket doesn’t show inclusion, people might argue that it’s all about the right man for the job and religion doesn’t matter, but the right man for the job are a dime a dozen. Qualified people for that position are found everywhere. Also, Shettima doesn’t come off as savvy and in sync with modern times. I was expecting a Northern version of an Osinbajo. APC missed it big time with this one. It’s disappointing. I might have to start considering Atiku at this point.
