@Antonio, at #8:05 you mention time control after 40 moves, but in this tournament "Time control is 120 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment per move".

There is no time control on move 40 in this tournament. They have 2 hours for the whole game from the start with 30 sec increment

Holly fook fabi is on fire
I vividly remember another Anish win against Fabi: Tata steel, immediately after reaching time control and time is added Fabi blunders a bishop if I remember and Anish captured with his knight moving backwards and then looking at Fabis face as if to say "wanna resign?". Fabi resigned soon enough.
Maybe you could show us the tiebreak game between 4 of them, that would be great. I wanna know how Fabi beat them since he is known for calculation and preparation based play in Classical #suggestion

Alireza had an important win, you should have shown that game.
Sometimes I feel like when top players get the black pieces, they become fixated on getting an opposite color bishop situation and they aren’t objective about whether they’re actually making a draw.
Hi Agamator, please do not forget to state the color of the pieces the player who won had.

I have ,in fact, thrown a few games myself, because in my chess mind i sometimes see and hear the voice of my inner Agadmator saying “pause the video here and find the winning move” BUT, then when i consult my inner Anna Cramling chess avitar I sometimes find that my mind is simply floating there in that 13 year old boy way. I am stunned by her beauty and spirit. This is coming from a man who would rather shoot himself in the knee than objectify a woman. All of this self reflection takes time , of corse, and the clock does not care about anyone’s inner boyhood crush. Boom! im down on the clock and the move that the inner Anna intimated to me was , while fun looking and thoughtful, not the best move. I giggled to myself seeing Fabi play Anna knowing that no man , no matter their politics or sexuality, can ever be truly immune from contact with genuine wonderfulness. It must help when ones inner Fabi chess avitar is in fact ones very self. That is why I, a 2100 level grown old man, strive to play at 2800. If for no other reason than being able to play chess or do anything well really, in the company of life’s biological, aesthetic, poetic, or romantic forces. Welp! There you are, another insight into a complete strangers “chess as life” experiences.
