He tried MMA and was one of the few that made it. A lot of guys try MMA, fail miserably and end up back on the streets.
Def, his boxing is very solid especially being a southpaw. Most fighters are orthodox and primarily train with other ortho fighters.
True story happened to a friend of a friend of mine
thats where ian garry will send him, back to the streets
Still ahead of the ones that didnt even try
@@Diego_Hadrian That's true as hell!
How can you not love D-Rod?? letâs go!!
Only raci$t fans don't like him
Who doesn't love that story. I hope he wins this weekend.
Same here. Tough fight ahead though I think, unless he takes it to the mat.
Thatâs a tough win
drod is easy work for ian garry doesn't matter what u hope lol
Well he didnât win
hahaha one round now the garry haters can stay mad he did what he said he'd do
This sport has changed many people's lives from bad to better
These are the kind of true life stories that motivate people.
Much respect for this brother he one of the real ones
LFG ! fun times at The Yard watching him go to work with Joe a couple years back. sick af to see him be where he is at now within the Organization. Get that W for Los Angeles. we're riding with you đŻ
Right on. I also used to train there a lot before the plandemic nonsense started up, saw D-Rod around. Great gym, great sparring there. I think he can get it done tomorrow! đȘ

Great story. Keep it up buddy. Helping others stay on the right path say's alot a out your character.
He's 17-3 and honestly most people don't know about him hope the UFC really gets behind him
Let's go D- ROD. Respect bro. You're already a champion in my eyes bro.
I show this video in my group at the drug and alcohol rehab facility I work. You are inspiring addicts to change
Man I relate to his story so much. I'm only 33 but I got almost 9 n a half years in jail and prison altogether. Training in kickboxing and must Thai was a big part of keeping me out for good n I had my sights on going pro after winning 6 amateur fights with 5 ko's and no losses. But I got Avascular Necrosis from being on a cortico steroid for too long for my psoriasis. It destroyed my hips and my dreams of going pro. I just had my first hip replacement and get the other one in 2 months. I need to relearn how to walk and everything, so I have no chance of going pro anymore, but I love his story.
I would feel destroyed if i was in ur situation, i believe in you though
Believe in yourself. There are still a lot of things too do and too achieve for you in life.
Letâs go DRod ! East Los / Boyle Heights are rooting for you!!
"Comfortable in chaos." Go, D-Rod.
Ufc have really found a way to capture storyâs. The video people here are on a another level
Great pivot by Daniel. Terrific example for the kids to follow.
Especially if kids/teens have started-off on wrong foot.

Wow. What a cool story. I'm from East Los Angeles myself and I know the devil is always walking around like a roaring lion on those blocks, seeking whom he may devour. Much love brother.

@@brandonkmmawhat? No.. it was a regular knockdown, nothing special..
Garryâs win on Drod was special tho
I don't think I've EVER heard that one before, definitely not a single fighter from the 500+ roster claimed that they turned to MMA to escape a life of crime. Not Sean Strickland being a meth cook, not Tito Ortiz somehow being in a gang while holding down a college wrestling career .. not a single fighter, definitely not 90% of the roster. đ
True, but everybody has a little difference in their story.
@@jayluis189 I liked Bisping's account of being in trouble as a kid, MAINLY because he opened up about it after his career had finished instead of using it as an opening line like everyone else does.
No way Tito was in a gang in Huntington Beach and Sean Strickland is too stupid to be a meth dealer
Ngl that fence tat is sick as f
pay attention to what he said when he first trained. he said that he instantly got it, some are just naturally born to fight. 99% will never go pro starting at the age of 25.

The World is fucked up. Just nice to see a win now and again.
Only in MMA can you start the sport at 25 with no background and make it into the "sport"
Bernard Hopkins learned to box in prison as an adult and didn't turn pro until well into his 20s...also from Philly, Vince Papale at 30 tried out for the Eagles and made the team. Why don't you do MMA if it's so easy?
@@JohnLocke1776 when did he say it was easy?
@@for.u925 his entire post. In the subtext of it, he's implying MMA isn't a real sport and that anyone can get off the couch and compete. Like it doesn't have a high degree of skill(s)
he's pretty tall and probably grinded hard to get there. He'll never be champ tho or a contender
@@JohnLocke1776 uhh no you dont just get to decipher a comments and put your own meaning to it đ. Hes saying its the only sport where one can make it without having to practice since a young kid. Look at jon jones. The main reason is because anything can happen in mma. Most of the guys can knock out most of each other so it feels more attainable, no one said its easy, that was you.
