  • A cold teacher learns the truth about a failing student's situation and get what she deserves. This cold teacher calls a failing student into her office and asks her to explain herself. The student has been late to class very often and is failing her classes. When she tries to explain why, the cold teacher doesn't care, and still doesn't care when the principal explains the situation to her and she learns the truth. Thankfully, she later gets what she deserves...

Moral of the story: never be harsh or jump to conclusions before you know the facts. You don't really know what's going on in a person's life. The teacher should have listened to Kayla and let Kayla explain her situation. She needs to be more sympathetic. Some of the best lessons are learned with the heart, not the book.

So true . That also goes for the work place also cause I'm going through the same thing at work . I have to take the mornings off to take my mother to chemo and when she gets really sick I have to miss a day of work . And I get the same speech from HR and the head of my department. What makes me angry is that I work in a hospital . And they have no understanding or sympathy for no one . All they care about is that you show up and do your job they don't care about anything else.

A heartless teacher. Kudos to the principal. Loved how he said " 10 years to long ".
I was thinking if I'd been that student, I'd had said " I quit school ", as my sick mother comes 1st.
I was at a job and of course we couldn't be on my phone. At the time, my mom was on Hospice. I always had my phone incase, something happened with my mom.
My phone rang, just as the boss walked in. She said " you can't be on your phone, so don't answer ". I literally yelled at her and said " when it's concerning my mother, as my mom is on her last days, the hell with you, I am answering ". I answered and she was getting worse and was asked to go be by her side ". My boss did apologize as she said " she didn't know ". Everybody knew at my job, as I had told them, that if something happen I would be calling in and if someone could cover me. Which all said they would definitely cover me at anytime.

He's right she was being disrespectful - when he said that the mother was terminally ill and didn't have much time left. Then there are times when a there's an amazing teacher. A student in my nieces class got leukemia and was out of school for awhile. When the teacher learned this she went to his home and home schooled him so he could graduate with the other students.

So thankful the principal fired the teacher. I taught at the high school level and loved my students, all of them. They are becoming adults, and they each have so many things they are going through in life that we are not aware of. I kept my door open and my mind open. If you listen to not only their words, but their body language, you will learn a lot from your students. I believe I oftentimes learned more from them than they did from me. If you don't have compassion and empathy, then you do not need to be a teacher on any level. I still see some of my prior students out and they still come up to me and hug me, and I hug them back. Be the positive difference in a person's life.

This happens all the time. Students get called up to see senior staff for underperformance but they never ask why. The principal did the right thing.
When I was a medical student of my friends suffered the death of her uncle a week before her exams. She failed and got hauled up before a disciplinary committee. The committee said "if you had done enough work how would the death of your uncle affect your exam performance?"
By contrast in the psychology department one girl suffered the death of her brother one week before her exams. They discounted the summer exam and agreed that the summer resit would count as the 1st attempt. However the external examiner looked at her attendance records and formative assessments. He ruled that in the absence of such circumstances this woman would have got a 2:1 in her exams and awarded such grades in absentitia.

Now she's facing the biggest consequences for what she done. While she's trying to keep up with her payments, she eventually ran out of money 💰. She had no choice but to apply at a fastfood restaurant. She knew it's the only way to keep up with her life style. Then a year later, she happens to meet her former student.

My Mom died when I was 12 and my so called sisters were 2, 3, & 4. My ignorant teacher erased all my credits and kept kicking me out of school for taking care of my sister's they kept sending home and even the idiot principle was in on it... I was supposed to graduate a year ahead of my class with 3 extra credits and instead I had to go back to school over a year past my graduating class just to get my diploma...

Yep - He's right she was being unsympathetic! I don't have to be sympathetic ? Omg! - Wow - Did she ever say what can I do to help her ? Then for her to say I've been here 10 years ? lol Yeah so what - good for him to terminate her!

Just because teachers are in charge of the students does not give them the right to treat them horribly. The teachers also have to obey orders under the principal’s’ authorities. The principal was the authority of the school. He had the final word. He also had the right to fire her after witnessing what she did to that student and after seeing as how grave her actions were. There was a teacher at my middle school who got fired immediately for mistreating her students and got her retirement benefits suspended upon further review from the school board

Had the teacher listened to Kayla with the bottom of her heart and listened to her very well, I would highly guess that the principal would have given to the teacher a chance to keep her job.

Teacher are supposed to be positive role model to hear the students speak, but to treat the students like that is a damn shame when a family member is not going to be around for long it’s time for the students to speak up and explain that their mother won’t be around for long I know education is importance but family is importance to. I hope that teacher learn a lesson that they should be more respectful to their students because that was 100 percent wrong.

Adding to the previous comment. I had the teacher who made my life miserable in high school transferred to another school. I will always win.
