Hi all, this is a video about a cool rule I picked up from drawabox.com/ many moons ago when I was learning to draw! Music massobeats - magic carousel: • massobeats - magic car...
@@aoaxe it's not too late lol I've seen a 24 yo become a millionaire by 30 .... Within 6 years of grinding... There's no age limit to success bro.. but your 20's are for grinding no doubt
@@aoaxe You’re definitely not too late, it’s only too lately when you’re no longer able to code at all. You could easily spend 4 years in college, if you work hard enough, get a good job before 30, and that’s still very young, you got this.
I started coding 19 and now I clocked 20, I'm not yet good enough to get internship, but I'm way better and knowledgeable than I was last year. Thank you man, your videos are a guiding light on this long dark journey.
Have patience. It takes years to get really good at something. I've been lifting for over 3 ½ years and only now am I really starting to look big. I did a 186 kg/410 lb deadlift in March. And coding-wise, despite me growing to despise it, I am better at it now than ever before, 7 years after I first started coding properly.
This video makes me realize how much I love learning new things Recently I've been doing a project. I find out that when I discover new things/tools to solve some problems, it becomes interesting and i can easily enter the so-called "flow state", but when I code with my existing knowledge or try to debug the code, things can become boring very quickly, or not as interesting. This rule might be the balance that i need, half learning new things and half refreshing knowledge i already had. Thanks bigbox for sharing this! Hope you'll reach 100k subs soon
Hello bigbox, thank you so much for making these videos. Just wanted to let you know that I recently started writing down some key concepts, or "rules" like this one, to adopt into my lifestyle (appropriately adapted if needed), and it works wonders. Large part of the reason I found motivation to code again after a long long time was because of your videos, so thank you again! Keep going at it👑
Been following this rule myself a little while recently. Always good to have some reassurance that what I’m doing is at least *somewhat* in the right track. Thanks for all you do BigBox.
I really needed this , because am advancing more in my journey and things are getting more harder to pick up and there is a lot more to learn , so i feel like i really need to apply this so i can balance between projects, practice and learning , Thank you ur vids are simple and helpful Keep up
Thanks for your ideas. You have helped me get out of tutorial hell. I love the 50/50 idea! That is my way forward. I’m a big fan of yours, keep up the good work!
thankyou for this. timing really couldn’t have been better cause im feeling the pressure of junior year and learning non curriculum skills get to me. ill get to it.
OMG you are a genius. i was really confused wether i should learn new things or start new project with the this i have learnt. Thank for the advice brother ! btw i am 20 years old and i just started coding last year :)
Bro I had like 2-3 other videos in my Watch Later lined up first for the evening, but seeing this thumbnail I couldn't NOT click this right away xD Liked and commented before even watching the video. This is some funny/meme shit you got 🧨🧨🧨 EDIT: and some great advice too. And it didn't take you 2 mins of clickbaity talk and 5 minutes of direct sponsorship ad + another 10 minutes of of a listicle where you repeat every main idea 5 times in different way. Holy shit, it's almost like you know what you like in those videos and what you don't like and you decided to make a video that you would like. Goddamn that's genius.
This is exactly the current state i am in, i want to learn a new framework or learn how to build a certain app but i feel like I'll get stucked in tutorial hell.
Hi bigbox! Love your content and I was wondering if you have tips for being focused whilst programming. Whenever I hit an issue whilst coding, googling for solutions will sometimes send me down rabbit holes and I may come across terms that I have never heard before. I will lose focus and most of the time, give up. Do you have any tips to improve this?
Perhaps one of the biggest things you can do as a new programmer is to just never give up, which seems like not a lot of people really have. Another thing you can do is whether you are doing leetcode problems or creating personal projects is to try to create ones that are on your level and are sure you can complete while being challenged.
It's a really interesting technique, but I have a question. How do you combine the "coding menu" concept with this one? Should they be interchangeable or is there a logical way to incorporate one into the other?
idk about this advice now that there's chat gpt. If you're learning a new software engineering skill, chat gpt can help you learn the basics quickly and it will tell you how to set up your dev environment so you can start building something right away.
1 Month ago this guy posted a video with the title "Stop Studying Programming" which explained why we must not study code, and rather just apply and learn. Now there comes a Fifty-Fifty rule explaining how half the time has to be devoted to learn. What?
Heeey, I've love your videos, I want to star programing but I don't know where tu begin from. Would you recomend me some communitys or a place to guide me? Thaks!
How should i approach the type of learning in which i am following a tutorial coding? should i do the practical tutorial and then try to implement what i learned in it by my own?
Any help ??? on the best video to explain how to use VS code as a total newbie ??? how to set up my first file or folder to start practicing my html code, I learned some code by watching videos but never thought the code editor. would be so new to learn any help???
Unrealistic, when do you just have 4h of spare time? I'd say you can be a bit more flexible, sometimes you can also do maybe 4 hours learning on one day and then the next is 4 hours programming. Or even longer, if you're good at that do the whole tutorial and then spend as much time programming in the next week
you're losing in the non-related details, he didn't say it has to be 4 hours specifically, you can do the same thing with 2 hours, 1 hour, 30minutes, the whole point is the rule itself, not the time
I think we don't even need to learn programming language. Just build projects. From youtube courses later you will get idea from those project of and build that your own project .
i love your takes i also understand that our attention span is low but i cant really watch the video it takes time to understand whats on screen when the frame changes and i didnt listen what u said...would really love if u went a lil slow...as always lots of love ❤️
A request to the subs of this channel..would yall mind making a Instagram gc..so that we all can make projects, do discussions, doubts and all the things related to coding?!
As a 19 year old programmer in training, these videos are really good. I'm 6 month deep.
i wish i started at 19, u have a lot of time, work hard but dont burn out either times on ur side
I'm 17... And 8 months deep let's keep going bro 💪🏽💪🏽 we'll get there
Mann, I'm about 24 and just start learn coding feel like to late for this

When I have 4 hours to code: I eat a big mac, and play Crusader Kings 3 for 3 hours and 55 minutes.
"SEE STUDYING COME TO LIFE". Quote by big Box. Love it❤
It's always this simple, yet so helpful. Thank you bigbox❤

Iv started doing something similar to this with my programming in unreal engine.

hey raphael! I made a video called 'Make coding easy' it touches slightly on focus :)
Excellent actionable advice as usual. Is the emphasis on the "big bockss" in your sign off a tribute to Sebastian Lague?

Cool! Thanks ❤

Do you count "doing books exercises" as coding or learning? Thanks a lot for your videos.
I'd count it learning

Advice for learning syntax for building projects as that can’t be learned from experience like for example u don’t know how to even write a function

I think we don't even need to learn programming language. Just build projects. From youtube courses later you will get idea from those project of and build that your own project .

coding is learning and it cant be called learning if there is no coding in it.
