Makin magic was my PT entry point. Absolutely love that album. Saw them live at Reading in 80. Stunning. His first four albums were great.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Susie was my intro to Pat Travers! Makin’ Magic and Putting It Straight - both released in 1977 - remain two of my favourite albums of all time. Thin Lizzy fans should check out Brian Robertson’s cameo on “Statesboro Blues” and Scott Gorham’s on “Speakeasy”!

Take it Brian. Great line from statesboro blues to introduce Brian Robertson solo. Love it.

I really love this idea for a series! What I love most about this channel is not just the stories of the music, but how the music has been a part of OUR story

Hi Phil, Makin Magic is a classic I bought this album when it first came out and is still in the original shrink wrap stand out tracks for me definitely rock and roll Suzie and Stevie, just had a scroll through Spotify and found he’s done a version of UFO’s lights out and done it proud to definitely worth a listen, cheers Phil.

Hi Phil! Enjoying the show as always- nothing but positive vibes! When somebody loves music, whatever it is, it's the stories behind the discovery of said music and the emotions involved that result in the music having a special involvement for the listener that never wanes- not for me anyway! In 1978 when I was 15, I finally got the courage up to ask this girl out, that I fancied for a while. I turn up to her house as arranged one evening and her best friend is sitting between us, which I took to be not a good omen! After 5 mins of smalltalk, the conversation stalled into a very awkward silence, and to break that silence, the girl put on one of her older brother's lps. Never saw it before didn't have a clue what it was, but it had a chap on the free t bent over carrying a bunch of sticks. I thought- bloody folk music or something like that ( this is 1978, had 3 Purple albums, Paranoid and Rainbow rising), and when the needle hit the groove on the Sharp 3 in 1 music centre, thisweird sound emerged followed by the riff of Black Dog. Wow! Eureka moment! Awkwardness and said girl didn't exist anymore! My introduction to Zeppelin. To this day at almost 60 , I still get transported back to that first listen when I put on Zeppelin IV. Anyway Phil, just thought I'd share that! Hope you're keeping well and keep up the great positive channel! Fair play. Kevin O'Connor.

Good one Phil. I saw PT live at Stafford's 'Top of the World' club in 1978. The band opened with 'Rock n Roll Susie' which set the mood for the night. Memory is a bit blurry but I think Pat Thrall was there on second guitar. Please do a review of 'Makin Magic' as it is a great album.

Thanks phil, great content as always. Snorting whiskey was my introduction to pat and what an introduction! On a different note, i'm guessing you know already, but i see today that donal Gallagher is auctioning off rory's guitars at bonhams london. Oh if i only had the money...

I admit that I heard of Pat Travers in the late 70's but that's about it. I see that Brian Robertson guested on Travers second album and Scott Gorham on his third, so the Thin Lizzy fan in me want those albums. But you can't buy everything. Right, Phil? 😉

Enjoyable. Could you do some more of these types of videos with singles please? How many 45s do you have in your collection?
