- VN24 - 09/29/2021 - Porta Westfalica / Germany - Fortunately, no one was injured in a serious truck accident on the A2 freeway in the direction of Hanover (eastbound). Between the Veltheim and Bad Eilsen junctions, the 56-year-old driver of an articulated truck with Polish registration had to stop on the hard shoulder at around 12:50 a.m. apparently because of a flat tire. Only a short time later, a car transporter approached on the right lane. The 46-year-old driver veered slightly to the right from his lane for reasons that have not yet been explained and struck the stationary semitrailer. In the process, the entire tarpaulin of the truck tore open. The car transporter was very badly damaged. Most of the loaded passenger cars were also very badly damaged. The cars had to be recovered from the upper loading area with the help of a mobile crane (car crane). All vehicles were towed away. The entire action dragged on into the evening hours. Traffic was jammed for more than 15 kilometers at times.

Slight bit of confusion here. It was an articulated truck with a flat tyre stationary on the hard shoulder, that was hit by the car transporter. Resulting in not only damage to the transporter, but extensive damage to the 7 cars that it was carrying.

Appart from another good video from VN24, can anyone explain why the cars had to removed from the transporter. Why not drive it to the nearest lorry park and unload it there and thus reopening the road quicker ?
I think because a main pillar of the upper deck was completely broken out and the upper deck lay on the car underneath with full weight. Overall, a very unsafe thing, so the weight was reduced on site.

They would have rented that crane,for that job. So,for them,more capacity,right now,is OK. If they had a few days,they would have waited,for the exact crane,with the exact lifting capacity.

wouldn't want to be the car carrier driver wonder how much he had to pay for the cars but glad the semi driver wasn't outside of the truck or the carrier driver would be facing more charges

Wouldn’t want to be the transporter driver. Hope he’s got a good excuse as to why it happened.
Don't truck divers always have excuses? I suspect the driver may have been a little sleepy and was following tail lights instead of watching the lane ahead. Many times when these crashes happen, the driver doesn't survive to try to explain, especially in a cabover.

Diesel brennt nicht so einfach wie benzin also kann fast nichts passieren...außerdem wie viele leute rauchen auf der tankstelle wo es viel schlimmer ausgehen kann...

@@janmuschalla3541 eigentlich schon. Die Fahrzeuge stehen nur auf knapp 3m Höhe, das ist kein Problem!
Bei der Höhe und Auslage kommst mit dem LDK schon an deine Grenzen. Grad den schweren Landrover hebst da nicht mehr runter. Außerdem kollidierst dann auch mit dem Auslager des LDK, wenn's so hoch / steil heben muss. Ist ja (wie bei fast allen Abschlepper LDK) ein Geradausleger und kein "Knicker". Da wäre das wohl noch möglich gewesen; allerdings auch nur mit nem 10T LDK, um in der Auslage noch so schwere Karren heben zu können. Dazu brauchts dann aber mindestens ein 20T Fahrgestell drunter (Dreiachser mit lenkbarer Liftachse hinten). Unter den Umstände da war der MK schon die richtige Wahl. Das das nun grad ein 5-Achser (120T) war, lag sicher an der momentanen Verfügbarkeit. Die Fa. hat ja mehrere Krane zur Vermietung; der hier war wohl grad der einzig greifbare.
@@maikerlein76 ich bin ziemlich sicher unser 18 tonner hätte die Fahrzeuge da alle runter bekommen.
Man muss aber auch bedenken das der lkw an der Seite schwer beschädigt ist und er den Plattform nicht runter machen kann da die schiene für hoch und runter abgerissen ist bin selber an den Tag vorbei gefahren wo das passiert ist grade

Ist schon komisch, der liegengebliebene LKW Fahrer wir als Polnischer Landsmann genannt, warum wird denn der auffahrende LKW Fahrer nicht mit seiner Nationalität genannt,denn wenn man aufs Kennzeichen schaut sieht man, aus Deutschland kommt der nicht. Nicht das mich das stören würde, aber wenn dann nenn ich alle beim Namen

Guck dir die Parkplatz situation an. Alle Parkplätze gesperrt oder voll und neue werden nicht gebaut. Lenkzeit überziehen will DE auch auf gar keinen fall also was bleibt den da noch über. Wie immer ein Politisches Problem dessen konsequenzenwie immer am kleinen Arbeiter hängen bleiben !
