sorry to correct you but BRIDGEND is a town, not a city we donthave a cathedral , , bridgend was a market town with loads of people trading animals in the local market. the council ( for some reason)decided to allow the development of the shopping centre near the m4 to accommodate multi national foreign companies to sell their wares, all transport links for those that had cars were welcomed, then the bus services were cut stopping the vallies being able to access TOWN. BRIDGEND council do not realise the value of the community around them.

yes the pines did allow a drop in numbers in the town, but then they pedestrianised the town which reduced numbers more, then the bus service price hikes or the bus service in general being cut back to none exsistant levels was the final nail in the coffin. and lack of accessability to the mass's, now those that cannot drive are stuck at home rather than walking the town. and now we are left with a town centre that even the travel agent "going places" upped and left!!
