  • The Weeki Wachee River Springs, a natural wonder in the heart of Florida, where crystal-clear waters flow through a lush, vibrant ecosystem. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is dedicated to preserving this precious resource, ensuring its beauty remains for generations to come. A Springs Protection Zone extending from the spring boil within Weeki Wachee State Park to the Rogers Park Boat Ramp was recently established. Through public education and responsible stewardship, FWC officers work tirelessly to promote sustainable practices and protect the environmentally sensitive area. Together with our partners in Hernando County, we can ensure its beauty is protected and preserved for continued enjoyment by future generations.

So let me get this right... FIRST you violated state law by allowing a vendor at weeki wachee to have full ownership and control to launching kayaks into waters of the state and prohibiting anyone from coming there with own kayak or paddleboard by GIVING them a PUBLIC kayak ramp and ALLOWING them to turn people away unless they have reserved like 10 spots months and months in advance and allowed same vendor to funnel hundreds of people into 1 hour or less kayak ride where they have to pay like $60/person, not allowed to bring water or snacks.... and treating people like gestapo.
THEN you made access to springs functionally impossible because nobody in their right mind can navigate 6 miles up stream from Rogers park. By time you get to amphitheater you can barely move and first 3 miles of the river from rogers park is urban zone and nothing to look at.
THEN you instituted no "parking" along the river.
Right so when exactly are you going to ban weeki wachee vendor from blocking taxpayers from having access to water of the state at the head spring then? Or are you so infatuated with riding about in jet skis in direct contradiction to the very signs that you have posted to prevent motorized vessels on the river? Come on FWC... get on that kayak and row row row your boat gently up the stream... merely merely merely merely remember this post.
It is reprehensible that I am not allowed to kayak weeki wachee the way it was intended... by paddling from head water, turning back and going home. Hell, even downstream business has been banned from shuttling people to formerly public ramp.
