I was 'early'... I met and heard Marc Farina in San Francisco in the mid to late 90's... First time was in 1997 or 1998......... He is truly one of the best... He let me stand behind the tables with him and watch him spin his records and Mix... Super kind and friendly... Love this guy... Miss those days... I was in my mid 20's... I'm in my late 40's now and at times it Still feels like it was last week... Love this music... Its Timeless....
I can't forget you guys...

Spent many nights studying with shroom jazz on back in the day.
I am doing that right now, and I still have many years of evenings like these to go. But I already know now I'm gonna feel nostalgic about these nights in the future and miss them.

I got turned onto this shortly after it came out. Seemed whoever's house I went to, this was on the stereo. It was the late 90's in Vancouver, and there was a healthy rave/party scene happening. So many after -party lounge sessions listening to this on loop. It's such great, mellow chill music! On CD, without the breaks between songs, this album is sublime. The end meshes with the beginning so well you don't even realize it's 3 hours, a few bowls, a few lines later. lol
Yeah this is so good. I first heard Mark Farina probably shoot 2007ish. I remember Dream Machine became our de facto blast off song for a while there. I think it was Wakarusa music festival circa 2010 maybe and he did a sunrise set. 430 am, a dwindling but still sizeable group of troopers were still awake making for a pretty big crowd for that hour. And an absolute stark naked man starts making his way towards everyone, bobs and weaves his way through the people standing a ways away, and then slowly but surely bumps and grinds his way in and dissapears into the more closely packed crowd by the stage. No one batted an eye.

whatever you want to call it. when it all comes down to the art and music, this is chicago house + blues + jazz + hip hop. Mark Farina and gang changed music. Music lovers from the world, grab a couple records from gramaphone while in Chicago.
I feel the best of chicago house and the artist working everyday is yet to come!

Man I stumbled apon mark Farina around when I was about 11. Now I'm 23 and just randomly remember remembered "mushroom jazz" glad I came back.
My first Mushroom Jazz album was Mushroom Jazz 3 and I instantly fell in love with it and have albums 1 to 7 on CD still. Just saw that album 8 came out and I couldn't be more stoked. I can listen to these all day everyday and it feels like a new experience ever time.

One of the CDs that kept me sane during homelessness of a winter in DC... prior to it being gentrified and alphabeted that was one of the first things that I would listen to once the Go-Go music ended deep into the night.

I've since then moved twice married once back into DC out of DC back into Texas divorced and moving on to hopefully greater pastures of relocating to a place that has a siesta within their societal culture for the sake of being amongst a populist that aren't entirely connected to their city by mere survival and toxic capitalistic means.
People are living just for the city all around the United States. And the way you live for the city is to convert everything into what it's monetary worth is including humans and to me that is blasphemous.

Originally bought this on cassette tape at Gramophone records I think in the late eighties. It was dope then and has weathered the test of time.

I bought Mushroom Jazz 2 over 20 years ago, but I've never heard this until now and already like it more. I guess the original is hard to top. Now when the first flush fruits I'm prefreakinpared!

Pro tip: when swim grew he use to flip the mycelium over after final flush and still get another batch or two from the underside. It also works if u get a sterilized knife and cut it open like a book an get at least another batch or two that way and there’s double the grow area
