Almost every song Morissette does is an example of perfection, but this one may top them all. Virtually every syllable, note and phrase is beautifully decorated and bathed in her warm, rich tone. How could anyone improve on this? For me, she's the reigning pop diva in the world today, and this song is proof. I wish somehow this could get on the charts in the West.

It is not a love song per se but a pleading and a bleeding heart full of love towards her father who has remained estranged from her over the issue of her husband Dave, a man he did not like and refused to allow her to marry him and at the same time refused her mother and brother to attend her wedding. She is being the perfect daughter in honoring her father and being an adult as well.
She is the perfect daughter yet he's failing.
Not to mention the $30 million she left her mom and dad when she went away.

She's a great artist she writes her own songs or cowrote with her husband. She interprets the song with so much emotion.
Love You Still is Morissette trying to reach out to her estranged father, mother and brother. I don't know the exact details or reasons why her father would not talk to her, for more than three years now. Some say it's because of her falling in love and marrying Dave. But why? Dave is a good man, and we have seen how much he loves and supports Morissette in all things including her music. Her father should actually be proud that she made the right choice for a husband. This is a song that pulls her emotions, made even more emotional by the sound of the cello accompaniment, maybe that's why she herself broke down to tears listening to it. Thank you, Schnell, for your continued love and support for Mori. 🥰

I did some checking on this song trying to find out why this was so emotional to her. This song she is singing, Love You Still, is to her father because she chose to marry Dave Lamar over her family and her father basically was his hands of her for that choice. Adds a whole new meaning when you see it.

This version got me good. Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of one person. It takes all of me to not tell her that I still love her all these years later.

Bit of a very emotional moment, entering the line..." if we came face to face" It's heart wrenching for her to sing this....considering the context and the reason she wanted it written....her way to reach out to her Father....who has been a MAJOR influence in her career. When that cello starts....fuuuuudge! Knowing the background of this song, she's still estranged from her family and you can see how painful it is STILL for her. See how she stopped near the end, pulled herself together and blasted that note. This is just so raw, beautiful but still so painful. It really is a beautiful song. Love how Dave keeps an eye out for her. She is milking this sing but in the best way possible. I'm gonna go cry again.

She sometimes eases up or down from the exact pitch as a stylistic effect. This was a studio recording, so they could fix anything they wanted to.

Too vulnerable, too raw, too deep. Filos tend not to bare their inner feelings, but maybe times has changed. May she find happiness with her dad. It is uncomprehensive this is still as it is. She is too precious to carry this burden.
