- This video explains how to update your Pamela's NEW Workout to the latest firmware if you are using a Windows computer.
** An error was made in the pasting to the command prompt portion of this video. Please ensure the 'dfu-util' portion pasted in the command prompt matches your downloaded binary file. In this case we downloaded dfu-util-static rather than the 'dfu-util' name that we pasted in command prompt. You may download dfu-util or dfu-util-static, just make sure the names match! Apologies for the confusion. **

Love my pam, but why so complicated 🙄 for updating?
Just stumbled across this video a few days ago, I’d tried to update my Pams several times 2-3 years ago with no success, today I did it first attempt......hurrah!
But seriously, I know I’m crap with computer stuff, but I’ve other modules that you just play a WAV file into them...much easier..😉
it worked, no issues, thanks for making my pamela better, she loves you
very clear & thorough vid. thanks bunches, ALM family!!
just bought one used in dec of 2022 and this update worked!
Incredibly easy and straightforward. Took 5 minutes and I have all the new features. Thank you🤘
that's... that's sarcastic right ?
thank you ! great update for my pamela new workout, i'm playing with scale now ! very cool
Thanks! Perfect video.
lovely sounds
A very Good walk through.
But surely in this day and age there should be an easier process for the end user?
8x Quantizers is a KILLER upgrade!
Typo aside, I’m glad you have the Mac version, that’s a lot to go through for Windows.
Not really, takes no time at all.
Complicated process, but very well spelled out here! And THANK YOU for including a damn USB port on the side of the module. SOME companies, that I still love (cough Intellijel cough), make you buy a special cable to update firmware. Grrrr.
itied that way but Mac say no connection to device.. what up ?
With windows i had to download dfu util , dfu - sufix , dfu -prefix and libus-1.0.dll in order to make it work. Took me a lot of time to figure out, though. It seems like there isn't a standard
procedure
Did you put all those files in the update folder, and run the command prompt as is shown here? Any help appreciated
Erm.. the latest Logic stuff is amazing. Instant 'call and answer' popping off everywhere.
i dont understood how to update pams in windows , its verty complicated
is there any other way of updating? I cannot get it to work i have followed your method exactly. I keep getting invalid dfu suffix signature, no dfu capable usb device available. Zadig worked as i can see stmbootloader. Any ideas what i have done wrong? Cheers
Try following if issues like this; make sure recent windows 10 build, remove other usb devices, avoid connecting Pam via a usb hub, try different usb ports and if all fails try a different computer. If Zadig can see the bootloader then it very usually will work without issue.
@@busycircuits I thank you very much. I followed your advice and everything works now. Updated to 206 from 199 without any trouble. Thanks for the update and new features, a great module made better and better. Cheers.
Having an issue: I run windows 7, when I click the drop down menu in Zadiq to select STM BOOTLOADER, its not there. Could this be because I'm on windows 7? Could it be caused by using a 'charge only' cable?
I also want to add that channel 8 on my module stopped working totally. That's why I originally wanted to update the firmware to hopefully resolve the issue. Then I learned that there are new features in the firmware updates, now i want the new firmware even more! hoping for some help.
Cheers
Try a different USB cable. Sounds like you've muted channel 8 - check for chan 'MUTED' Param set to 'Y'. If still issues visit busycircuits.com/support
@@busycircuits doh! that was it. thanks so much, I really appreciate that.. it had been like that for a while. This was confusing to me because when I reset the module, the other parameters seem to reset (waveform, phase, etc) but the mute parameter never reset. It would have been helpful to me if the mute parameter had reset with the other parameters. I am using older firmware, so maybe this has been addressed since that release. Thanks for a great module, and great support. cheers
@@lukecurran5572 Yes I believe in newer firmwares this is what happens. Great you got it sorted :)
Got it working. My issues were that channel 8 was muted and that I had a 'charge only' cable.
This should be made much simpler.
From a windows platform this seems like a pain in the arse.
But.......
I like the background music.
Hmm… even if I had a pc (which I do not) I doubt I would have the coding skills necessary here. Looks like my Pam’s will have to stick with whichever firmware it shipped with…
for anybody having problems u need to install dfu-util.exe. took some time for me
Pass. The chance of me ballsing this up is too high and Pam is not lacking in any respect anyway
This does not work at all. I don't know if these instructions are out of date or not.
I just purchased one. If I had seen this beforehand I would have gone with something else. I have built a dozen computers on my own from the ground up and they all work flawlessly. Even so I am not looking forward to this. Can I do it ? Probably. I just don't see why I should have to. Who wants to go through all that with a brand new module. At the very least the manufacturer should offer to do this for you or provide an online tech to walk you through it on their end. I would rather pay shipping and be without the unit for a week or two than to jump through all those hoops. I am not a trained seal.
Pams have shipped with the latest firmware for quite a while now... Did you check what f/w yours had ?
Im sorry, but thats too much fiddle for Windows users.. and for someone like me, that dont understand half of it. I'll miss out on those new updates like quantaizing etc. I'll stick to the old version :(
Honestly, its not that hard.
@@juliaseppi2205 well, Its my opinion thats its _too much_ stuff to install, fiddle with. Its 2020 .. I dont want to have to use Command Prompt to update firmware. I got several other modules only needing to place / replace a single file on an sd-card with / or use a cable via usb.
@@Grauskegg It takes no more than 5 minutes, just follow the instructions as you'll be missing out on the new additions.
@@juliaseppi2205 @ALM TV sorry for my negativity.. Im not just good with these things. After a second try (I had no luck with a cable), I got it to update. I was soo scared to brick it (my usual luck). But in the end.. it worked. I just had to put a little extra effort in to my non hacking skills.
@@Grauskegg Glad it worked out for you :)
