Interesting, I've never even thought of Orients as modding objects. But I always love modding videos, quite inspiring. A goddamn beautiful blue dial on that Orient (glad you didin't swap that out lol). Great final product, I always think these steel looking bezel inserts look great.
Great mod - like to see how you changed the bezel. I looking at a phoibos watch that has the same bezel. I’m afraid to change the crystal but some day I may get brave enough.
I did it also. With this original tapered bezel it looks ridiculously awesome. I stick to original bezel because in Orient Ray/Mako is unique. I've switched the insert to enamel one and now is more flashy like the ceramic one.
So I modded my black bezel ray 2 and loved it but currently rocking it stock with a oyster bracelet. Something about the stock look is so nice about it. Looks both like a watch I can dress up and down. It’s all scratched up from all the mods but love it!
An oyster bracelet sounds great. I’m keeping the stock bezel in case I want to switch back too. That’s the great thing about mods, you can do as much or as little as you want
I think you made the right choice going with the single dome considering your new insert is flat. Double dome tends to look better with a sloped insert. Great mod and video!
L👀ks amazing, nice choices. The ss bezel was an inspired touch, looks more utilitarian & contrasts the dial nicely. I just came upon too good a deal on a 2nd blue Mako 2, so thinking the mod route is a logical choice. Similar to your blueprint: sapphire dome w/ coating, coin bezel, jubilee bracelet. Then the other Mako can ride on various NATOs (the Chevrons from C&B are great) 🤷🏼 First-world "problems" lol Great vid (👍+ sub)
Hey man i have questions. You mentioned that it was an skx bezel you had and that they shouldnfit a ray? I dont think thats true. I have a skx bezel that i tried to pop on and the skx bezel fits loose can just fall right off. It seems like the orient specific bezels have an extra ridge on the inside. The skx WILL work but you have to add a spring ring to get it to snap
Great video! Any suggestions on how to avoid the scratches when removing the bezel? Also, how do you know when you have a good seal when installing the new crystal?
A good way to avoid scratches is to put tape on the watch case where you plan on prying it off. Also get a VERY thin edge to wedge under the bezel. As far as sealing the crystal, you can order a crystal gasket from Crystal Times when you get a crystal, so as long as that's on there, you should get a pretty good seal
That looks killer!! Was wondering what the steel bezel would look like. I did the the mako1 with a crystal and blue and purple duel time, the Orange Ray with the blue bezel and a DD crystal, looks crazy!!
Awesome vid and timepiece! Newbie question - can doing mods like this compromise water resistance, and who does this kind of work? I plan on getting a Ray 2 and would like to swap the bezel for a flat one like yours - thanks kindly!
Thanks for watching! Switching a bezel would not affect water resistance, as you don’t have to remove the crystal or case back. Replacing something like the crystal, however, could run the risk of changing resistance, but hopefully with correct methods it wouldn’t. If you’re uncomfortable doing it yourself, I’d recommend looking at reviews of local watchmakers/technicians in your are
You have to buy a bezel made for the ray and will allow use of a skx007 bezel insert. Everyone sells the ceramic bezel inserts. You can buy both of these from Crystal Times, Long Island Watches, DLW, Namoki Mods and probably a many more places...
Why not show the fail in bezel removal? Bet we could have learned from that ya think.likr the SS insert but a GMT insert with only 2 hands .I went with a DD and went to a single and keeping it. So everything in your vids some need to see it all.
Fair. Sometimes the angles etc don’t really allow for video but I try to show as much as I can. This one was more of a “before and after” than a “how-go”
The sapphire crystal from Crystaltimes is cheaper than the one from Long Island watch and it has an AR coating. 👍

Thanks! Yeah, had to leave the dial alone for sure, and not just because I hate installing hands
I agree 💯 Orient has the secret sauce when it comes to sunburst colors on a dial. The blue is breathtaking post mod under the dome 🤯

@@ronjohnson8119my watchmaker get it somewhere. I didn`t ask. Just paid :)
Cool! I have the first mako..With a pusher..Bro,can l link the store where you bought the bezel and insert on it?
Looks great! Planning to mod mine sometime this year.
Really great video and overall quality. I was looking to see what the single domed looked like.
Thanks for watching!

Good point! Thanks for watching
Nice changes...they did make the watch look sportier! You made the adjustments look easy. Have a Great Weekend!!💯💪👍
Thank you! You too
Could you please tell me where I can buy the Orient Bezel Inserts? Orient's spec is unique, thanks.
I have and Ray Raven 2, modded it with double dome sapphire crystal, ceramic GMT lumed insert in a coin edge bezel. Came out sweet 🤌🏼
Nice!!
I think you did a great job. Only difference I’d make is I’d choose the black model for the build combo you came up with
Nice yeah black would look great. I already have my black SKX so I thought I'd go for some variety with blue
You made a great looking watch look even better...well done !
Thank you!

Thank you! Welcome to the channel and good luck with the mods. Let me know how they go
I was going for the all black but you got me thinking

Yes, you need a spring. The measurements of the bezel should be the same however
Awesome video and final result 👏 👍 🔥
Thank you Felo!
I’ve got a sapphire swapped Ray II in black and a couple extra bezels layin around…I might just have to do this mod
Go for it!
Thanks for your video. I enjoyed watching it.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you
It would have been nice to see the new bracelet/clasp.
Looks awesome!
Great video! What is the size bezel input?
Does anyone know if SKX crystals fit in Orients? There's purple ar crystals for Seikos, but I can't find any for the Ray II and I love how they look.

Whats the size of sapphire? Mm?

Great video, I think your mods are spot on. I really like that steel bezel insert, good choice!
Thank you!
Do you still have the stock blue bezel ? If so I would like to buy it from you
Sorry, I don’t. I sent it to another modder a few months ago
What bracelet is that?
Vòng benzel mua ở đâu ạ
Very nice 👍
Thank you!
Looks like you didn't have any trouble seating your new crystal?
This one went right in. A lot easier than when I did the Seiko SNZH57
Do you know if anyone makes a ceramic insert for these rays?
You have to buy a bezel made for the ray and will allow use of a skx007 bezel insert. Everyone sells the ceramic bezel inserts. You can buy both of these from Crystal Times, Long Island Watches, DLW, Namoki Mods and probably a many more places...

I have the exact same bezel and bezel insert but for some reason it don’t want to click into my ray 2, can someone help a fellow watch enthusiast? :(
Have you tried using a crystal press?
@@the1010watchclub I did, I was just a dummy and bought the bezel for an skx007 instead of a ray 2. Thanks for replying tho, your watch looks great.
Подскажите,какого диаметра стекло на часах?
диаметр стекла 31 мм, диаметр корпуса 41,5 мм
Man I don't have the tools lol
They’re cheap to get!
About thirty bucks on Amazon or Alibaba will get you all you need.
That new bezel looks horrendous. Original one is much more beautiful.
🤷🏻♂️ thought I’d give it a try. The only SS bezel in my collection
@@the1010watchclubI absolutely love it 😍 and cannot find it anywhere 😢
Check out the bezels at Long Island Watch
