    So helpful - I have found it tough to get a good install with the seatbelt on this but this totally helps. One that confuses me is that the manual says to put the belt "in front of" the crotch belt... I interpret that as "underneath" but I could also see how that could mean "on top of" so I'm just not sure.The picutre they provide is not very helpful. I wish manuals had both drawn as well as actual pictures to help.

    • @safeintheseat
      @safeintheseat  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The front of the car seat is the part closest to where the child's feet would be. The seat belt should be in front of the crotch buckle, aka on the side that the child's legs would be and not the side the child's bottom would be

      @@safeintheseat Ok -after your response, I was still incredulous because the seatbelt was sitting on top of the crotch buckle which seemed strange. Then, because you put a picture of the manual page, I realized we had the crotch buckle in slot #3 which is not allowed in rear-facing. When we switched it to #2, the seat belt was perfectfly fine. Thank you so much!

    Please help me understand where a tall child puts their legs in the rear facing position? My 2 year old is tall (not 40 inches yet) and his legs are scrunched up like a frog when he’s in this seat. He’s at the proper recline level, but he only has two options for rear facing - sit like a frog or sit criss-cross applesauce. Neither seem comfortable for an extended period of time, but there is no way for him to straighten his legs. Is the seat made for a child to sit this way? Cross-legged?

    • @safeintheseat
      @safeintheseat  Před 3 měsíci +1

      They put them wherever they want. He can also put his legs up on the vehicle seat. Kids have much more flexibility than we do because they have more bones since they are not ossified. It does not hurt them.

  • @cky5573

    We bought this car seat for the plane and it was not good. The seatbelt on the airplane runs in between the cloth and the actual car seat which means the buckle of the seatbelt is right on the child’s back so he was very uncomfortable. This is the first car seat I’ve seen where the seatbelt actually runs right under the material That the child sits on. It might be OK for a car because the buckle of the seatbelt on the car is usually by your hip. But for the plane, the buckle rest right on your belly so it’s on the child’s back/butt when he sits on it

    • @safeintheseat
      @safeintheseat  Před rokem

      This seat only has one allowed recline, so if there's no way to get a different seat, you'll just have to continue using this one as is. Once this seat is outgrown rear-facing, it's going to be outgrown forward-facing as well due to a very low harness height. Plus, if your child is only 12#, it's a very long time until they can forward face in any seat. The recommended minimum age is 2 years old. So I have this seat as our travel seat and I cannot for the life of me ever get it tight -- it always moves around (and in your video with the LATCH straps it does the same) IS THAT SAFE?? When I tighten the belts around my son, the foot also rotates UP making the seat recline even more, and I've never been able to get it not to do that. It makes me very worried about safety :( I've done inside-out and I even tried with the seatbelt in a recent trip and it still rotated back every time I tightened the straps around my son (rearfacing)

    • @safeintheseat
      @safeintheseat  Před rokem

      It's allowed to move up to 1" at the belt path. The way it's moving in the video is fine. If you are having trouble keeping it at the proper recline, this seat does allow rolled towels or pool noodles. Using those would keep the recline from changing when you are tightening the harness
