- Clocking in at around 50ish hours, I finished this Nerf Destiny Gjallarhorn repaint! Using simple tools like sandpaper, spray paint, and acrylics, you can do it too! The nerf blaster isn’t the greatest, but it still works and has a unique priming mechanism similar to the in-game design.

this is INCREDIBLE. have you ever considered doing a build of whisper of the worm?
I have not! That would be epic
@@thecreativeinfantry it would!! also probably very hard considering its weird shape and lack of an already-built version, though, but i’m no expert.
@@theenderclops I make plenty of foam prop weapons on my channel! Nothing i cant handle with enough time 👍
@@thecreativeinfantry i do remember being very impressed by your skewer so i trust that!
Wow this is fantastic. As a model hobbyist myself, I’m incredibly impressed
Much appreciated !
Man now all I need the confidence to paint my iron one
This is so cool! Wish they sold it like this.
Agreed!
Please paint mine like this! So beautiful 😭
You must be messing with me how can you have only just shy of 600 subscribers ,
This is quality content
I appreciate that thank you! 600 or 6000 I’m just trying to help out those willing to watch 😃
I would love an dead mans tale nerf gun
I just ordered one since Bungie lowered the price by $50. I think I will be doing this paint job, so thanks for this video.
Best of luck to you!
Yeah I gotta do this to mine. thank you so much, sir.
Best of luck to you!
W
Absolutely beautiful
Thanks!
This is awesome
Ty!
I was just thinking about painting mine. And your video was very insightful on how to go about it.
Best of luck to you!
YT algorithm brought me here, but damn this looks amazing. Great vid.
The algorithm works in mysterious ways haha thanks!
Destiny cosplayers watching this and foaming at the mouth to get one
😃
Great paint job!
Much appreciated thank you !
That's absolutely beautiful. Stunning work, man 😊
Fun fact, Gjallarhorn is an Icelandic/old norse word. Means loud sounding horn and in modern day it is a megaphone, also, almost no one pronounces it correctly 😄
Yeah most people don’t pronounce it “yallar”
@@thecreativeinfantry That's true. It's kinda hard to write how we say it in Icelandic, but Gjallarhorn is pronounced similar to "G-yeah-dlar-hordn" 😁
I just checked on Google translate, how it pronounces it and the Gjallar part is correct, second part is close😁
@@PeturSveins fascinating !
Insane
This is well done, part of why i didnt like the Nerf Gjallarhorn is that is look more like a $80 nerf blaster instead of THE ICONIC weapon.
Two very different looks indeed!
Absolute work of art my friend!
Thanks so much!
Such an incredible final product! May I ask how you got the scope removed to paint it?
Didn’t attach it in the first place (permanently at least)
Noted! Looks like I've got some extra work on my hands. Thanks for the reply!
@@sepulcher777 yeaa you’re gonna have to use some force to remove the scope (if already attached.) you can always just paint around it too
Wouldnt it have been better to disassemble the gun in order to paint and make adjustments?
Making something like removable caps for the screw hole might have been better for future maintenance too.
otherwise great video!
That is a great point! Absolutely, a full disassembly would make for a more thorough paint job and leaving the screws alone would allow for future maintenance. However, I understand not everyone is comfortable with taking things apart so I wanted to show it’s not necessary. And from a purely looks standpoint, no screw holes looks cleaner IMO
@@thecreativeinfantry i was thinking more of creating screw hole caps so when you assemble it together then it doesnt show as badly as being open. But they would at least be removable.
I have done something similar with my previous nerf guns to make them look better and to give me the option for future maintenance.
But i understand why not to disassemble it and honestly you have done a fantastic job still!
This is crazy! Can you link the paints that you used here?
I do have another question I thought of. When you filled in the holes with the putty…what about the holes on the white part that you taped over to keep white. How did you get the putty white to match the base white it came with?
I just painted them white to match the base to the best of my ability. Though it didnt master too much for me because I was going to dirty up the white anyway
@@thecreativeinfantry cool man. I appreciate all the replies. I’ll keep you posted. Big N Thank you.
awesome. have you considered a prop like legend of acrius or heir apparent?
Thanks! I have not. Maybe in the future who knows!
A really great video and it gave me a few ideas on how i should paint mine but i do have one question.
You didnt mention in the video how you painted the leather wrapping on the front handle. How did you do it?
Best of luck to you! It was basically the same process for the whole gally. In short: painted it black, added brown, dry brushed a lighter brown, added watered down black paint to get into the crevices, and then add the gold details! My apologies for not covering that part clearly
@@thecreativeinfantry you are just fine my friend. This will be my first project to work a nerf gun so it will be interesting. Thanks again and can't wait to see what you will do next!
@@freddyfoxyton7813 feel free to ask any more questions! I do have 1 small paint job planned and I have a big cosplay armor planned as well
This is AMAZING! How did you detach the scope and grip?
Great point! I didn’t have them secured all the way from the start. This allowed me to take them off easily before permanently attaching them on
@@thecreativeinfantry whops . . . Any tips as to do this paint job with those bits already attached?
@@iamvian2047 I would say save those for last! From there you can lay the blaster on its side then paint them
@@thecreativeinfantryI’ll try to do that. Cuz I already have the bits attached heh😅
This is really cool can you try a warhammer 40k space marine
I was considering of looking into the world of 40k! I was even considering of making I believe it’s called a Bolt or Bolter? The weapon! We’ll see
what watch were you wearing ?
Skx! Classic 🙏
What grit sandpaper did you use?
For the light sanding overall I think I used…600? Not finer. For taking away the logos you’ll need something more aggressive, I think 200s? Sorry I’m not so specific! I should specify next time
@@thecreativeinfantry All good, I appreciate the response. 40 grit: Coarse.
80 grit: Medium.
100 grit: Medium.
120 grit: Fine.
220 grit: Fine.
440 grit: Extra Fine.
800 grit: Ultra Fine
3000 grit: Super Ultra Fine
@@Havoc_Maker Yeaa so I tend to use FINER grit and upwards
@@thecreativeinfantry no worries. And how many coats did you do? And what was your wait time between coats?
@@Havoc_Maker for painting, her belly 3-5. However, if you are dealing with functional you with moving parts, you’ll want to be careful and not overdo it as to not mess up then parts that move. In that case, a solid 2 should be a ok. Same applies to the clear coat
