Watch a full tutorial as a 2000 Pontiac Firebird will have a brand new Pioneer Bluetooth radio installed AVH-1300NEX. This radio install adds Bluetooth functionality, Apple Carplay, and enhanced power output for better sound quality.
This video applies to Pontiac (and some Chevy Camaro) models for years 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. This video also includes dash trim and stereo removal, radio wiring, programming, and installation.

One little tip I'd like to add is that, if you plan on reinstalling the factory radio, you'll need the TheftLock code in order to get it to function once you reinstall it. This can be done by calling an 800 number that can be found online (free of charge), and following the instructions to retrieve and enter the code into the radio and get it to function. Just a little tip. :)

I was planning getting the factory steering wheel buttons to work with my after market head unit, but discovered that some slack person before me installed a clock spring that only supports the single wire for the air bag, not the steering wheel buttons. The clock spring that supports the other wires is very expensive... darn it!
Would really like a double din in my 02 z28. Not too crazy about loosing the 35th anniversary molding on the bezel though haha. Thanks for the video brother
your car is very collectible. removing the stock radio and bezel would greatly hurt it's collectors value.
Buy another bezel to cut up
The metra replacement 2 din bezel requires you to transfer the oem "35th anniversary molding" and nearby switches.

Very clean. I'm inspired to give this a shot, although I'm still not sure how you tied into the red and black wires with the steering wheel unit on that wiring harness.
It should just work by plugging it into the original wires.

My 2001 has two solid blue wires on the factory harness to tap. I assume it’s the one with an empty pin on the other side?
I was looking for a video that explains which wires I use to hook up the steering wheel controls I have a 1995 Trans Am and bought a Metra connection but don't know what wire to wire?

Good Video. i am about to install a Kenwood. i wonder how similar it will be. in regards to the wires. Catch 22. my radio is used and has a connector already wired to it and im not sure if its the correct connector for the F body. im going to give it a shot soon. thanks for making this video.

There is actually two different wire harnesses that connected to the factory radio. One is the one you used to connect to the radio, what does the other control / do? I can't see what it should connect to...?

Didn't you see the video? The guy explains everything about the first and second wire harness, if you don't want to use the sterling wheel control just don't use the second one, hide it on the back of your new stereo

I just got my Pioneer double-din in the mail today for my ‘01 Trans Am… basically this exact install. I had Crutchfield put the wiring harness together for me, and they left the parking brake, reverse, and speed sensor wires out for me to connect to the vehicle. Do I have to connect the speed sensor wire? And if so, what is the purpose/benefit?
The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sense) wire helps with units with either on board navigation or units with wireless apple carplay / android auto to help with accuracy of the nav. It isn't required to connect, but can aid in accuracy of your system. If you don't have anything to hook it to, just cap it off and you should be just fine.

Hey.... I installed a pioneer radio in my trans am, but it sounds like garbage when I turn the sound up, new radio, new speakers all around. It sounds like the factory amp cuts out the full power of the radio.. how do I stop this?
What if you don’t have the WR spot in the back of the radio but you have the wire

What exactly is the micro bypass for? All I saw was that you had one of the three wires from the micro bypass hooked up to the harness but nothing else, do I need it for the backup camera? If I do need that micro by pass do I connect it to the cable that had the tag on it labeled “parking break” if so what wire from the bypass do I attach to it and what do the other wires on the micro bypass connect to?
Would that kit work for a 98 Grand Prix bc it look the same interior as a 98

Yes, can work with Monsoon. the factory audio on this is more than 20 years old at this point, so as good as a 20 year old sound system will sound.
If you have a monsoon sound system than do you need the micro bypass? I'm guessing you don't but just wanna make sure
Microbypass has no impact on the monsoon or non monsoon systems. It is simply to bypass the parking brake wire on pioneer radios only for video playback while in motion.
Is the steering wheel control adapter ASWC-1 a must for any radio?
why dont you show how to install brackets on double din.. u skipped it? did u have to drill holes on the head unit?

You should really change the title to 98-02 camaro. Earlier camaros have a different center console setup.
My steering wheel doesent have those buttons , will it still work ? And how do I get the steering wheel with the buttons
Yes, you just won't need the steering wheel control adapter. As for adding a steering wheel with buttons, you would have to see if your clock spring supports additional features like that.

The only issue was finding the trim plate made for this upgrade.

How do you get the clips on the bezel doesn't seem like they fit

How did you wire the steering wheel positive and negative wires to the rest of the harness?
For power and ground of the steering wheel control adapter harness, just tap them into the red and black of your radio harness adapter.

I am getting a 1995 Trans am. It's totally 100% original. I want redo the entire system like this with navigation and camera system . I just subscribed to the channel , do you have more videos on trans ams ? I want this car to sound like a studio on the inside.

is the Pioneer AVH-1300NEX the only one compatible with this setup or do other 6.2 in stereos work? i'm only asking because where I'm from I can't find any of those exact stereos but find similar ones.
Any double din would work as long as it is steering wheel controls compatible.

Your part number IS NOT for a Camaro. A 95-3009 fits several of the older cars.

How are you going to put the factory radio back in if you cut the support panel out? Keep it stock, fool. The car is worth more stock. And the Delco radio is fine. Tell us how a Pontiac enthusiast who buys the car will weld the plate back in?

@@got04goat Do what you want, I agree. He said to keep the radio in case you sell it to someone who wants to return it to stock. But he then cut out the support bracket. I wanted him to tell us how to reinstall the original radio after he cut out the bracket.
