Hlava ramena kolena palce
Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Oči, uši, pusa, nos.
Eyes and ears, and mouth and nose.
O hlavy k ramenům, kolenům i palcům -
ukazujeme se sobě navzájem jako znalcům.
Znalcům na všechny problémy světa,
který už za Tebe rozsekla tvá teta,
která Ti ve věku osmi let praví,
že to nevadí,
že jsi tak velká,
páč v posteli se to všechno spraví.
From head to shoulders, knees to gizzards
We show off to one another like wizards
Experts on every problem in the world,
That your aunt has cracked long before,
As she said when you turned eight
Do not bother
That you’re so tall
For the bed will straighten out us all.
Oči, uši, pusa, nos.
Eyes and ears, and mouth and nose.
Přes hlavy, ramena, kolena i palce dostáváme,
když ztratíme se v dálce - myšlenek,
když nezůstáváme jen u šminek
a ezoterickejch veletrhů,
a když je nám jedno,
kolik budeme mít vrhů
a jestli vůbec.
We’re hit on our heads, shoulders, knees and toes
When we get lost in distant thought
When we go beyond make-up and the lot
And esoteric trade fairs
And when we think rude
About the size of our brood
Or whether we’re screwed.
Oči, uši, pusa, nos.
Eyes and ears, and mouth and nose.
Do hlav, do ramen, do kolen i do prstů u nohou,
zapisujeme svůj řev na ty,
kdo z moci své nemohou,
pomoci
sobě ani jiným
hlasu se domoci.
Into the heads, shoulders, knees and toes
We engrave our roaring upon those
Who are powerless in their throes
To help themselves or another,
And won’t raise their voice to bother.
Do očí, za uši před ústa i za nos,
chytat se, umlčet, neslyšet a nevidět-
to všechno jsou rozhodnutí,
jak nevnímat svět,
svět co nehodnotí činy,
ale vzhled,
svět co nezajímá, jestli máš co říct,
a máš-li vhled.
Shut your eyes and ears, mouths and noses
Be silenced and blinded, no sound, no sight -
This is your own diagnosis
Your own choice to shut out the voices
The voices which do not judge what you do
But judge you by sight
In spite of what you may have to say
Or if you have insight.
Hlava, ramena, kolena, palce.
Udáváš do pohybu svý šance,
kolena, palce,
hezky z předklonu,
jen pro ty nejerudovanější znalce,
kolena, palce,
puchýře a oděrky,
jsou cenou za poslední módní výstřelky,
kolena palce,
dáváš se do šílenýho tance,
kolena, palce,
evidentně lákáš potencionální samce,
tak kolena, palce.
Head, shoulders, knees and toes
Here it goes, your chance
Knees and toes,
Dance forward, get close
To those who are experts on shows
Knees and toes
Here a scratch, there a blister
The price for fashion fads is bitter
Knees and toes
Your heels whirl like tornados
Knees and toes
You’re so hot for the studs and the pros
So go, knees and toes.
Oči, uši, pusa, nos.
Řasy, šperky, rtěnky a plastiky
jsou tvoje nový politický taktiky
tak tiky,
co udrží tě na výši,
v očích těch,
co nakonec,
stejně nad tebe se povýší,
pro tvoje nízké zájmy
a příliš svůdný zjev.
Eyes and ears, and mouth and nose.
Lashes, jewels, lipsticks and plastic
These are your new political tactics
Facial ((surgery)) tics,
Whatever keeps your status intact
In the eyes of any
top-flight manager
Too low are your goals
Too sexy your danger.
Pak nestačíš se divit slzám,
co do očí, uší, úst i nosu
vehnal hněv.
Then you marvel at the tears
In your eyes, ears, mouth and nose
Imposed on you by anger.
