In the theatrical release, the killings are more crazy. And the woman playing Kara looks EXACTLY like the woman that played Ms. Honey in Matilda. I like both versions of this
lmao the guy getting electrocuted has his whole HEAD explode, it's so extra
Iâm totally in the minority I think who actually prefers the theatrical cut. I have always found the Producers Cut to be reeeally silly.
@@JerkyPuck is this the producers cut?
you've seen matilda? cool
Yeah the killings are more gory in the theatrical version
Fun Facts:
It was the Cult twist in the film that convinced Donald Pleasence to sign back on calling it the best script he has read since the first movie.
This was what was originally set to get released in theaters. However because the test screening fared poorly among a group of 14 year old boys. This led to several reshoots. None of the reshoots would involve Dr. Loomis because Donald Pleasence died after initial production concluded. This led to a worse version of the film being released where characters screen time was cut and several plot points you see here would be taken out so if you had seen the theatrical version first you wouldn't know what was going on.
Danielle Harris turned down the part due to both money issues and unhappiness with her character's mistreatment. In fact, Harris wasn't even considered to return at all as they were looking for an actress 18 or older for the part of Jamie and Danielle was 17 at the time. One of the special features in the Blu Ray is an interview with Danielle as she talked about everything she went through to try to get the part.
JC Brandi (who played Jamie here) also faced backlash from angry fans accusing her of stealing the part of Jamie from Danielle which caused Danielle to come to JC's aide standing up for JC. Danielle and JC would become good friends as a result of all this.
While Halloween fans and and Critics panned both versions of the film, almost everyone agreed that The Producers Cut was actually a movie and a better product.
Someone already pointed out Donald Pleasence screen time being cut due to the director finding Donald Pleasence to be boring. And the director was an idiot.
Yes they thought the best character in the original timeline was too boring so they clearly have shit taste
That convinced him? Pleasence has said for several years before he passed how he hoped they do 30 more, and he'd love to be in them. Everything else is true, good stuff as many get so much wrong lol.
There's huge flaws with every version of this movie. No amount of playing around with footage or editing changes the fact that the film lacks interesting characters, and has a lousy premise (they've drifted so, so far away from the simplicity of the original in which Micheal Meyers represented almost an elemental sort of evil, looming over everything, ready to strike).
The Weinstein brothers were the main issue with the movie and fucking everything up and thatâs insane that moustapha may he Rest In Peace let a director who didnât know what he was doing still film cause I wouldâve fired !!
@@jenniferbayarea5748 Weinstein were the main issue, but akkad is a greedy fucker that never cared how the movies turned out, as long as he kept the rights, and they kept pumping money into his pockets. Look at H5 it came out a year after H4, and the only reason why it was rushed (and it was) was because akkad was gonna lose the rights if he didn't make one that quickly. He never cared how horribly H5 came out as long as he kept the rights, and H5 is much worse than this one.
Jamieâs death in the theatrical cut is even more disrespectful!
"They could not have beat the shit out of this character anymore."
They did in the theatrical cut.
The directors cut and theatrical cut are like two different movies. I've never seen a bigger difference in cuts.
Iâd argue the two cuts of Zombieâs Halloween II is a pretty close comparison
Well, there is no directorâs cut really. It is the producerâs cut and the theatrical cut. Iâve been a fan of the theatrical cut since it came out back in 95. I was renting the VHS tape for like a month straight every weekend.
The producerâs cut has moments, but overall, it isnât as exciting as the theatrical cut to me.
@@NickNutjob there is also the television cut of Halloween II đ.
@@richardstange5939 thatâs just a bunch of fluff scenes added back onto a fluff movie lol. It didnât really change anything about the story aside from Jimmy being in the ambulance
@@NickNutjob Yeah. But the producer's cut shits on Myers' character and the lore of the franchise.
"Get me a doctor NOW!!!" Paul Rudd's delivery of that line killed me. Too funny.đ
âYou went from this to Clueless?â
Literally yes. Paul Rudd filmed Halloween 6 first but Clueless got released theatrically first. Loomis became Michaelâs protector ironically at the end. Next is H20 my 2nd favorite sequel. Since you love Scream, youâll love H20 since it was inspired by it and Kevin Williamson had some involvement in the story
I watched H2O recently and was surprised by how poorly it held up. I remember really liking it as a kid but maybe that's just because it was so pop culture savvy with its casting at the time. Didn't enjoy it on the rewatch.
H2O was bad when it came out& still is. Doesn't mean u can't like it, but I thought it was such a disappointment after being so excited to see it back in '98...& hasn't gotten better w/time for me. Real piece of doodie that one. I didn't like 'H6' when it came out either, but enjoy it now. And the radio personality guy or maybe it was like reality tvđ€...Idk...but that blonde haired dude was kinda hot.
H2O is a lot of fun. I see people complain about it, but Iâm not sure why. Itâs probably the best of the bunch, next to the original & maybe Halloween II.
H20 is kinda ruined for me because the guy who plays Michael is absolutely horrible and I canât explain why
Sheâs probably already seen it before but I canât wait for her to see that ending

Believe it or not, this makes way more sense than the theatrical cut haha

A few stray thoughts: Every time you asked who the baby's father is, I would shake my head and say, "oh, honey, I'm so sorry." Jamie deserved better; poor kid just had the worst life. But the look of pure "...wut" on your face when the movie cut to black was gold! đ The theatrical version is worth a look, if only because the abusive dad gets a much more satisfying death in that version. It's a bit of a wash quality wise, but they are very different films. Lastly, a personal note you might appreciate, but whenever I watch this movie I'm always mentally shipping Kara and Beth, in part because Beth's relationship with Tim gives me such a comphet vibe.
"Ms. Blankenship, you nasty b*tch!" HAHAHA Has got to be my favorite line of this video. I had to pause the video because I was cackling for a minute straight. LOVE you, miss thing.

I convinced my friends in college to go see this when it opened in theaters. I nearly lost my movie picking privileges for the rest of my college days. And yes, the theatrical version is waaaaayyyy different than the version you watched but I really donât care for either. I think Halloween 4 is definitely one of the stand out sequels in the franchise.
H20 is a movie that has grown on me over the years. Initially I hated it, except for LL COOL J who was hilarious in it. Part of it drag, but it's an interesting take on Laurie and a bit of a character study on the long term effects of PTSD. For what it is, it's a fun romp. Certainly better than 6

When you get a chance you should watch the theatrical version, a lot of the scenes are different, thereâs no magic or incest, the score and the ending is different.
Also., John, the a-hole father, he gets it A LOT better in the theatrical cut. đ
@@richardstange5939 right! That was one of the best kills lol
This was the first Halloween that I was old enough to see in the theatre, so there's enough nostalgia here that I can overlook the messy plot.
Great to see the amazing Mitch Ryan (Dr Wynn) who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Seeing as this is from 1995, the biggest fright this movie delivers is seeing how poorly I'm aging compared to Paul Rudd.
OMG!
I never saw this version.
The one I saw cuts out with an image of the hospital then screaming.
Then them driving off in the Jeep
I NEVER knew the power of the Thorn was transferred to Dr. Loomis
đ±đ±đ±đ±đ±đ±
In the movie release, his screams is all you hear.
There's also the whole running through the underground scene that doesn't seem to be here.
The ritual?
That's NOT in the original movie.
In that one they were in a nursery hospital wing and had the baby in an organ holder.
I LOVED this one SO MUCH MORE!
You're watching the Director's Cut, the theatrical cut was noticeably different. The theatrical version is worth seeing because it takes a radical turn in the final act. Curious as to what you'd think about it in comparison with this. It's been a matter of hot debate among fans of the series.
Halloween 6 is a very troubled film, but it did one thing very well - it captured the atmosphere of autumn. After all these years, only Halloween 4 and Halloween 6 really got the cold, dark, eerie quality of autumn. Even the first film, owing to being filmed in California, didn't capture that vibe. Of course, the first movie got everything else right! You'll love H20. Even taking into account the new films with Jamie Lee Curtis, her performance in H20 was perfect.
Producerâs cut. The âdirectorâs cutâ is a bootleg workprint of the theatrical version with even gorier kills
@@NickNutjob and my point about how troubled this film is further made. There's probably a cut hidden in a vault somewhere that has me in the cast!
Yeah the theatrical cut is very different from this cut, I always found it more open to interpretation.
I'm loving these reactions. I always think it's a bit of a shame when people say you should skip sequels and only watch some. A reaction to a bad movie can be just as entertaining as a reaction to a good one. And you got the zingers to match! You could totally host Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The scariest thing about these hilarious reaction videos, is doing the math and realizing how old I was when these movies came out!!
The way the dad gets killed in the theatrical version is muuuuuuuuch more satisfying and hilarious. Itâs almost the same but they add one thing. Iâm not gunna spoil it.
I never cared much for the whole Thorn and cult plotline, but one thing I am 100% in agreement with is that poor Jamie deserved better. I wouldn't be mad if they did another timeline in the future that featured Jamie going up against her Uncle Boogeyman and finally defeating him, and gets that happiness that the Thorn plot ripped away from her. As long as it's done right, of course.
I always love the lack of continuity between this one and the first one. Either Michael is a speed demon, or he teleported those 150 miles from Haddonfield to Smithâs Grove đ great vid Alanda! Your commentary is always on point đŻ
This cut and the theatrical are significantly different. This film went through production hell thanks to the Weinstein's. I would watch that cut as well to compare the two although the only redeemable part of that cut is how the father dies (same way but you see him suffer and his head explodes).
Jamieâs death was a brutal way to go compared to the lame death in the producers cut. Cause if you are gonna kill off a legacy character you gotta do that with a bang and that farm machine kill oof.
Jamie is wasted in the theatrical cut and her death is excessive, Loomis's role is trimmed down because the director found Donald's acting boring, it's edited in a really obnoxious way and major plot points are changed or removed. Somehow this cut makes even less sense.
@@Ghostface1998 Story wise it makes more sense though. And since itâs not Danielle it doesnât feel like a legacy character anyway.
@@radioactive_moose excessive or not it was a great kill which isnât a negative in my eyes. Still the character itself is a legacy character maybe not the actress who plays her but the character is and the death of Jamie in the theatrical cut was sm better than the producers cut. The kills in the theatrical cut entertain and save the movie for me especially without focusing on the cult side.
I also liked the chase scene and the doctor massacre in the theatrical cut.
This is one of my absolute favorite Halloween movies, especially the theatrical cut.
Halloween 6 -- the Producer's Cut -- is way better than it should be considering the script went through between 9 to 11 drafts, each of which progressively treats Jamie more and more like yesterday's garbage while cramming in a wide variety of subplots and characters that all tie back to the original film. As other comments will affirm, the autumnal vibes are immaculate, the performances are all quite good in this cut, and George P. Wilbur returns from Halloween 4 with his second solid performance as The Shape.
This is definitely the most ambitious Halloween film. It attempts, without a trace of camp, a lot of good ideas that could individually work but ultimately undermine any clarity or direction the plot may have had. I like most of the individual scenes but the end result is so muddled. No draft of the script ever manages to commit to *why* poor Jamie has to be impregnated if the cult's dastardly plot is actually to pass the curse from Michael to Danny, with Michael killing his final relative and Danny killing Kara. Plus, Michael seemingly steals the kills that should logically be Danny's, leaving Danny with just the one victim? The exposition dumps also fail to account for the reality that Michael is always a standard-issue serial killer despite all his supernatural flourishes -- he enjoys tormenting his main target with his tricks and treats even if he is also in some way empowered by the ancient blood magic of the Druids. I love the concept of an old friend of Loomis turning out to be a mastermind that makes him Michael's protector, but again, there are too many players that clearly play key roles that are never properly clarified to the viewer.
Halloween 5 & 6 are a sadly abandoned experiment in trying to make the world of Halloween bigger and more interesting than the very simple, focused slashers of Halloween 1, 2, and 4. The series may have some better movies to come, but it never attempts this kind of serialized, interconnected storytelling again. RIP Jamie Lloyd Carruthers; you deserved better.
Also as someone who got into the Halloween series around 2007, I need to acknowledge the miracle that the Producer's Cut actually has an official release, something the fanbase thought would never happen!
This movie was Donald Pleasances's final role before he died, that final scream from Dr Loomis was his final voice line ever recorded on film, and it was in this movie, just think about that. They really should have went with the Micheal Myers being some Silver Shamrock android gone amuck, to explain all of this, dude was invincible like a Terminator at this point
Alanda, who fathered the child? (6:30). Sadly, Michael Myers, her uncle is the father... Yeah, while this movie isn't as bad as Rob Zombie's crap, this movie really went off the rails. Which is why H20 just goes back to the original 2. Also, fun fact, Dr. Wynn (Man in black) was actually the doctor in the original film who asked how Michael learned how to drive (not the same actor, same character)
Halloween 5 director really messed everything up because he introduced a lot of these cult ideas. He hadn't seen the previous films and wanted to try something new and it led to... this.
Rob zombies are good asf..way better then resurrection
Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (the Director's Cut) is a masterpiece!
This movie went down an insane rabbit hole that should have been left alone. It had its good points, such as the return of Tommy to the franchise and a very good, final performance from Donald Pleasance (RIP)

Jamie and Loomis did not understand the true nature of Michael Myers. Hence why they are ultimately absorbed into the cult of Thorn. Tommy did understand the mystical nature of Myers - hence why he was able to stop Michael AND escape.
I love horror and your personality, these videos are heaven when I'm super stressed. also, I love me some daddy mikey
Hi Alanda. I donât know if youâll ever see this. But I figured Iâd give a shot at an explanation.
So, in this timeline, this initially wasnât supposed to be the finale. This movie was just another sequel. However, when early screenings got REALLY bad reviews, the movie was drastically changed. However, it too got REALLY bad reviews. Thatâs why we have two different versions of the movie. Actually, the Producerâs Cut only got officially released fairly recently. So due to the extreme critical failure of this movie, they decided to do something completely different for the next sequel.
Seeing that it was her 20th anniversary of being in acting, Jamie Lee Curtis decided to approach John Carpenter to make a new sequel. This ultimately became Halloween: H20, which completely ignores movies 3-6 and starts a whole new timeline.
I hope youâre able to see this and that it doesnât get lost in the comments. But Iâm loving this series and I love your videos. Iâm a huge fan. Love you, Dear!

Side Note, I'm of the very few people on Earth who rank this film and part 1 both in first place; as messy as it can be, it's not boring like some of the other ones can be and nearly itches out 1 in being scarier and nailing the spooky season vibes. đ
It is boring. Sorry. Flat characters and not much of a narrative flow. Being made in 1994, it suffers really badly from the sleepy downer vibe of the early 90's.

We go from a standard masked serial killer, to a vaguely supernatural masked serial killer, to a whole-ass centuries-old cult?? Absurdities abound.
I'm just glad H20 does away with that whole continuity and brings it back to a generally simpler story, can't wait to see your reaction to it!
Keep in mind that the Celtic curse angle was used in the novelization of the first Halloween. That being said, the way that Part 6 handles this angle is beyond aggravating and actively diminishes the character of Michael Meyers.
â@@ryanjacobson2508 They could've omitted the curse altogether, it's not as though they *had* to acknowledge what the novelization set up. If they had to, some vague implication would've been more effective, rather than de-mystify Michael completely.
Still, this movie is at least better than Resurrection lmao

I'm so glad you watched the producer's cut of this movie! It was so much better---especially that moment when it's revealed that Michael(!) is the father of Jamie's baby.
I'm sorry it's better and for that reason ? No ma'am
Gonna be honest, I find the producer's cut more decent. Like that's a film I'm willing to rewatch.
Great reaction! I It's so gratifying to see you work through the entire series, although I was bummed out for you that you ended up with this version. I have only seen the theatrical version, which is significantly different and a huge improvement. They remove some of the cult malarkey, streamline the plot, and most of all, include the epic fight scene between Paul Rudd and Michael Myers! You won't believe how that goes down or who wins! Please try to see the theatrical release - I saw it in the theatres and own the DVD and I think you'll have a much better experience.
i am SO ready for the 90s and 2000s era sequels omfg it's gonna be iconic!
I'm so proud you've got this far. đ„°
4 is my favorite but I can't wait for you to see H20 and the new timeline.
I CANNOT tell you how excited I am for Halloween H20. I have been waiting for this moment since I watched your first Halloween reaction. đđȘ
Can't stand when the hipster audience give content creators like Alanda bad advice cause whoever said she should watch the Producers cut over the Theatrical version shouldn't have, nevertheless great reaction as always, thank you, looking forward to H2O đ
"Probably now, the infant has picked up a butcher knife and started stabbing Mrs Blankenship."
Alanda saying good-bye in my native language is the highlifht of my week ))))
They should have just paid Danielle cause I don't know this girl there is no emotional attachment to Jamie without Danielle
Iâve never clicked on a video faster lol
When you called the mother Velma and said jinkys bitch I died !!!! đđ€Łđđ€Łđ
"Jinkies, bitch!" LMAO I want that on a t-shirt đ
"Mrs. Blankenship?! You nasty bitch!" - lmao, best line! đ
Just got on here to see if you had uploaded this video yet. And yes you did! I've waited all weekend because this is the one Halloween movie I've really wanted to see your reaction to. This one just went completely off the rails with the storyline.
This was the last Halloween movie Donald Pleasence filmed before he died in 1995. RIP...
"Girl, follow the blues clues."
One of the best lines I've ever heard.

I do love this film, certainly much more than the next 4 that were made, but personally i prefer the theatrical release. Jamie had a great early death on farm machinery, John Strode's death was extended to show his head explode, and the entire final act was different and in my opinion better.
One thing thankfully they didn't mess with in this cut is one of my favourite scenes where Kara is on the phone to her friend over the road and witnesses her murder.
I also think Marianne Hagan who plays Kara did a wonderful job and is a very underrated final girl.
A mother trying to protect her child from a shitty situation is a very refreshing take on the final girl, and Tommy in this movie did the âtraumatized after the events of 1978 and obsessedâ long before 2018.
The theatrical release is a horrible mess
Lol. You have horrible taste if you prefer this over the next 4 excluding resurrection that is. H2O was awesome and Halloween 2018 was a masterpiece. Halloween Kills wasn't the greatest but it was a hell of a lot better than this.
@@mattbudesa6351 Halloween 6 is an actual Halloween movie. It's a stalker slasher it has the Halloween atmosphere and style and it's storyline is actually about what Michael is and why he kills just like the original (hell, if you just look at the first 2 thirds of Halloween 6 it's remarkably similar to the original).
H20 is a Scream clone, that's just a fact. Resurrection is an of it's time typical slasher comedy, not incompetent but easily the most pointless out of place Halloween movie. Both Zombie movies are very well done from a technical perspective but totally ditch the things that made Halloween, Halloween (no Halloween atmosphere or style, totally removed the supernatural element that was the core of the original movie's mystery).
Then 2018 is a typical of it's time slasher/drama with an emphasis on the action, to the point that it also barely feels like a Halloween movie (still no Halloween atmosphere or style, totally removed the mystery element and connections to Halloween folklore again, more action drama than slasher). Kills and Ends are both, like 2018, barely even slasher movies let alone Halloween movies.
People go on and on about 6 not being in the spirit of the franchise or being incompetent just because of the cult. But 6 is a technically well done movie (alright it's editing and re-writes aren't great but both cuts are very watchable and the cinematography, acting, pacing and so on are all well done) and 6 for the majority of it's runtime is very much like the original movie. It does a very similar Halloween themed stalker slasher as the original did, with similar styles of shots and cinematography and a similar focus on build up and suspense. 2018 and H20 do none of this. Kills and Ends do even less of this than 2018 or H20.
I'm so proud of you for getting to this monumental moment, you will not be disappointed with H20! Just some good ole fashion '90s slasher Halloween! Just be forewarned, enjoy the hell out of it, because Halloween Resurrection is a full on shit show! đ Sending all the hugs! đ€â€
I like H20 but it has its problems (the masks) and how much elements it has from scream especially an Easter egg that shows up which made the movie not canon cause of how impossible it exists in the Halloween universe (Iâm sure you can guess what I mean hopefully but keeping it vague to not spoil it but it was a movie they watched). For me H20 is when Laurie actually became a final girl cause Ms thing was crying most of the time in the original and Halloween 2.
@@Ghostface1998 I definitely agree, H20 had it's flaws. I just feel she will enjoy it more then the last few, she also loves 90's slashers. So the Scream influence is definitely correct. đ
@@charles6990 the scream elements are so distracting in the movie (the music is literally screams theme music) for me personally cause thatâs my favorite franchise and hearing the score used in a Halloween movie is so ew like I wanna hear the Halloween score in a Halloween movie. Trust me I like the movie too cause the 80âs and 90âs are my favorite era of horror. Sheâs definitely gonna like it more than 5 and 6 cause for me Halloween 4 is better in than H20 Iâve mainly grown up watching the thorn trilogy instead of Jamieâs movies so I always thought Jamie Loyd was the better character of the two cause Iâm more invested in the child of Laurie who has to face her uncle with true trauma compared to Laurie whoâs mainly crying/doing nothing in the original two movies.
Come on now. Jamie Lee Curtis is the face of the entire franchise! There's no comparison.
R.I.P. Donald Pleasance...our Dr. Sam Loomis...passed away a few months before H6 was released....both H6 & H7 (aka "Halloween H20") are dedicated to him.
"I met him 15 years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No conscience. No understanding. Not even a rudimentary sense of life or death, right and wrong...good or evil. I met this 6 year old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face. And he had the blackest eyes....the Devil's Eyes. I spent 8 years trying to reach him, and another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely, simply..Evil."
Iâm glad you survived the last two Halloween films (I love the franchise, but not too enthusiastic about 5&6 for all the reasons youâve expressed), but I PROMISE it pays off with H20. Itâs my fav besides the original. And the new series (2018 & 2019) are fun too.
Looking forward to your reactions! Enjoy your rest!
Also, I think some âSundays are for watching Alanda Reaction Videosâ merch/T-Shirts are in order. I might custom make one just for funsies, because itâs become a Sunday tradition lol
Great reaction as always but sis this story was creepy af and was so mind boggling at times!! Your reactions were on point!!!
I can not wait to see H20! That movie puts the fear of "The Boogeyman" back into me! Good luck, and I hope you are doing alright and staying safe!
I think you made the right choice picking the Producer's Cut, but honestly the differences between the two versions are so wild I'd still say it's worth watching them both just for that (and the Fred Flintstone dad gets a much more satisfying death in the Theatrical Cut, too).
Alanda: "Jamie is alive"
Me: "yeah. Not for long" đ
