When H20 was made, the Akkads snuck a clause into the script forcing that Michael would survive and that JLC would have to come back for another film. When JLC found out, she stated she would only do it if Laurie was killed off in the Prologue.

I didn't like her performance when the movie came out and I was in high school, but now as an adult who's known people with that level of trauma, that scene is super accurate to what those breakdowns can be like, and respect Scout Taylor Compton for really going for it the way she does. I think Rob Zombie's Halloween II is super underrated for that, as well as the artistic ambition behind it.

The whole fight with Busta Rhymes and Michael Myers isn't when the franchise jumped the shark. The shark jumped out of the stratosphere all the way to the sun. Also, you've summed up Michael best; he's a blunt instrument, a force of nature, causing destruction with no intent. He just *does*
He's actually Not a blunt instrument. That's Jason Voorhees. Myers has Always been much more stealthy, observant, and sly. Two things: Myers wasn't eating the rats. He was doing torture experiments on them. That's how he knows all the painful ways to kill people though he has a preference for the slash and stab method. He practices. And, Myers wasn't cowed by Busta Rhymes yelling at him. He was deciding on killing Freddy or doing something worse, killing Freddy's girl/friend. That's his style, which he's done throughout the series. A lot of fans hate this movie. But, some of us think it's really fun and even good. The deleted scenes that show Busta Rhymes getting his from Myers is cathartic, since that's the Main complaint of the movie. Plus the Myers in this is very good. Kudos to Brad Loree
I’ll be honest. This movie holds a special place in my heart due to my childhood. It was from this movie I found out about Michael Myers and I watched his movies ever since. It has its problems, now with me being an adult in my late twenties and seeing the errors, but still lol 😅

Now that you’ve made it to this monstrosity, i’d like to note that H20 would’ve been the best way to end the entire franchise. The 2018 ones could’ve still came out because the 2018 reboot was fantastic, but Jamie Lee has publicly stated that the only reason she agreed to do H20 was if she was able to kill Micheal. Then they started changing things because as John Carpenter said in an interview a month ago, with the Halloween franchise, it’s always been about the money. So they decided to make another one after a ending that was very much cinematic, and Jamie asked to be killed in the opening, because she didn’t want to be apart of it. I won’t get into 2018 timeline Laurie until we cross that bridge, but I love 2018 Laurie, H20 Laurie as well, but that’s just because as they said in Scream (2022) Ambers quote at the end when they ATTEMPTED to kill Sydney was “You can’t have Halloween without Jamie Lee!” and I think that statement was valid 😂

Laurie coming to grips with Micheal in H20 works because she was entering middle age at the time, when people have to reckon with their identity and their future. But an elderly Laurie ought to have moved on from Micheal. It just isn't plausible that for FORTY years it still dominates her. Micheal is too old too. He's about 60 years old in 2018. How many 60 year olds go on rampages?
@@ryanjacobson2508 Not to mention Laurie's downward spiral in H20 works better because of the events of the first two movie. H2018 Laurie doesn't work well, Michael chased her across the street, and she spent the next 40 years parked outside his prison cell with a gun, and weaponized her house in a battle station because she knew he only wanted her.
Also, the script and plot were written for another movie and they had already begin production on it- when the producers decided to make it into a Halloween movie. Thus the writers scrambled to work Michael into the script while still having the same deadline. It’s why this movie doesn’t feel like a Halloween movie cause Michael was an afterthought in another movie. I believe the original was exploring the home of a serial killer via webcast and a lot more of the psychology behind why people kill fueled the dialogue and that sounds like a good movie. They had to replace bulk of the dialogue to reflect Michael and you can still catch glimpses of the original words.

Wrong! Halloween: Resurrection, was always meant to be a Halloween movie from the get go. I don't know where you got all of that BS from but as far as I know, initially Dimension Films wanted a Halloween movie where the killer wasn't Michael Myers but another separate character infected by the same evil as Myers. They also proposed doing another Season of The Witch style Halloween film but the fans refused it in a poll.

Back in the late 90's, MTV had a show called Fear. A bunch of young folks would spend the night doing tasks in "haunted" places with cameras on them and in different rooms. This movie always reminds me of that show.
Jamie said in an interview they did H20 because its been 20 years they were all still in show business resserrction at the time was a cash grab and she only agreed to it if they killed her off in the opening and paid her well. The fact that she came back fit 3 movies and its her final halloween trilogy is so sad i watch bts footage that was released she was crying during an interview she produced these movies with john carpenter and he came back for the music sure Kills is divisive but truly its the best halloween movies that truly honored 1978.

Watching this made me realize this movie 20 YEARS OLD! I was 12 when I first watched this and at this point I already developed my love for this franchise 😅
In 2002, I worked at a movie theatre and had finally got in good with the projectionist and he let me screen prints when they arrived (usually on the monday before the friday it was released. The prints had to be screened first to make sure all the reels were good before opening day. It's all digital now but movies used to come in 4 or 5 reels that had to be cut and taped together to create one big massive semi-tire that was the whole movie. ANYWAYS, I was excited when we got HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION in (as I'm a massive HALLOWEEN fan) and then the fact that I could watch it early before the public was awesome. But wow, this is when I knew there was truly an odd man out on the HALLOWEENs...and it wasn't part III anymore! Lol. So yep this was the suckiest...well, until Rob's H2...just my opinion. Can't wait for your reactions on those! They are what they are...Zombie's OWN version of Michael Myers. The first one is pretty good in its own way. Plus, you'll get to see the return of Danielle Harris. Better hurry girl! HALLOWEEN ENDS is less than a month away! 🔪🎃

They filmed MULTIPLE endings for this one, and Freddie wasn't even originally the one to bust through and save Sarah. It was actually meant to be the guy she's been online chatting with. I think the plan was for international theatrical releases of this film to have different endings play, but the scene in the morgue ended up being the one every release got. Also, Nora's death scene was cut from the film. You can find it on here, I'm sure. Really think they should've kept it in. Pacing, schmacing. Audiences should've been able to see how she ended up killed instead of just having her body be found with no explanation. Edit: Also, the actress playing Sarah couldn't scream, so her character's screams were dubbed. UGH. It's like, "B*tch, you're supposed to scream! We can't have an actress who can't scream!" It's as if the Tingler was living in the actress's vertebrae (yes, I'm referencing that William Castle flick).
When you kill off the Scream Queen, you better have a solid film. When you don't, well...I think this illustrates it pretty well. It can only go up from here.
Attended the NYCC 2022 panel today with Jamie Lee Curtis and she said that she owes her entire life to Halloween. She legit teared up and everything. And that when she dies, she knows it'll say "Halloween actor Jamie Lee Curtis" and she's ok with this being her legacy and what she's known for ❤️
I was laughing my ass off during the intro knowing that you had NO IDEA what you were getting into. This movie feels like P.A. from Scream 3 and a P.A. from the later Friday the 13th movies got together to write a Halloween fanfic and Moustapha Akkad read it and said BRILLIANT!!! This really dies feel more like a Friday the 13th movie set in Haddonfield to me than it does a Halloween movie but I will say this movie grows on me everytime I watch it. I don't if it's because I enjoy it for stupidity or because I haven't enjoyed any Halloween movie that's been released after and this one at least has some replay value.
I just started watching, but you NEED to watch Katee Sackoff's reaction to this movie. She's gone on to MUCH bigger and better things. Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars... but she looks back at this movie and really breaks down the experience.

THANK. YOU. 👏👏👏👏 For *years* the fact that Michael Myers is up in CostCo buying up fresh fennel when he's eating every Fido in the neighborhood gets me every time. Also: this film ruined a birthday pizza party back in the day. Had a huge JLC crush. You can imagine how things went after the 15 minute mark.
You got it right at the end, I was a kid when I saw it and loved it, and to this day even if I can see all the flaws, I still like it more than most people. The scene where Deckard guides Sara through the house is really good IMO, it's got some great shots of Michael with some really atmospheric lighting, and the kills felt meaner and scarier than in H20 at the time. And although those two scenes are ridiculous in concept, I enjoy the scenes where Sean Patrick Thomas and Busta Rhymes fight back against Michael. I like it when the killer isn't invincible and can be outsmarted and get his ass kicked. There's a lot of really stupid moments in that film, but there's a lot of stupid moments in H4, 5 and 6 as well, and what matters more to me is that the films have some standout moments that stick with you and a good Michael, and I think Resurrection had that. It's both very stupid and a highly entertaining watch.

When this first came out I was in high school. The previews gave me LIFE! I entered this movie expecting Jamie Lee Curtis to re-appear at the end of the film and save the characters. When she never appeared, after her death in the prologue, I was let down. But this film has so much cheesiness it gives campy life, somehow?

I thought Season of the Witch was the worst, that could be because that stupid Silver Shamrock jingle got stuck in my head for like a week. Always felt like the Rob Zombie movies took something away from the concept, it was scarier when there was no discernable reason for a little kid to go murderous.
I personally hate the Rob Zombie movies with a fiery passion - his need to take the audience into the gutter and roll them around in crassness and the worst of humanity is just unnecessary and gross. Resurrection is campy badness but I’ll take that over Zombie’s foulness any day!!

😂😂😂 i did say after your reaction to H20 that Halloween is my favourite movie franchise and i love all of the films except for Resurrection. I am so glad you agree. I recently found out that Busta Rhymes character was originally intended to die in this, but he insisted on re-writing most of his diologue and surviving. Obviously that is only one of the many problems of this film though lol. I also hate the cop out of it not being Michael who Laurie had decapitated. For me this would gave been so much better if it was set fully in that mental hospital from the start of the film, similar to Halloween 2. I actually like the bit set there.

This version was truly brutal asf and he ran towards people. Like when Micheal walks it’s the standard but he’s scarier when he runs.

Rob Zombie wanted to really play up PTSD, violence, and nurture over nature part. I prefer H2 to his first one, it has its own identity and is more like a psychological drama.

John Tate should have been in that house for the show knowing he’d interact with the real Michael. Also, I don’t think he was framing the mental patient and moreso gifting him the knife, which is so…….sweet.

Your summing up at the end was priceless and had me cackling. I'm glad you had fun with this one, even though I think it is definitively agreed upon as the low point of the franchise, even with how divisive the next 2 Rob Zombie ones are. Speaking of which, there are 2 cuts available for each of his movies. For his Halloween remake, be advised that the director's cut has a pretty rough rape scene that is not present in the theatrical cut. The director's cut for his Halloween II is the way to go though, a much more complete movie all around. Will be very interested to hear your thoughts on them when we get there!

I didn't like her performance when the movie came out and I was in high school, but now as an adult who's known people with that level of trauma, that scene is super accurate to what those breakdowns can be like, and respect Scout Taylor Compton for really going for it the way she does. I think Rob Zombie's Halloween II is super underrated for that, as well as the artistic ambition behind it.

The whole fight with Busta Rhymes and Michael Myers isn't when the franchise jumped the shark. The shark jumped out of the stratosphere all the way to the sun.
Also, you've summed up Michael best; he's a blunt instrument, a force of nature, causing destruction with no intent. He just *does*
He's actually Not a blunt instrument. That's Jason Voorhees. Myers has Always been much more stealthy, observant, and sly.
Two things: Myers wasn't eating the rats. He was doing torture experiments on them. That's how he knows all the painful ways to kill people though he has a preference for the slash and stab method. He practices.
And, Myers wasn't cowed by Busta Rhymes yelling at him. He was deciding on killing Freddy or doing something worse, killing Freddy's girl/friend. That's his style, which he's done throughout the series.
A lot of fans hate this movie. But, some of us think it's really fun and even good. The deleted scenes that show Busta Rhymes getting his from Myers is cathartic, since that's the Main complaint of the movie. Plus the Myers in this is very good.

I’ll be honest. This movie holds a special place in my heart due to my childhood. It was from this movie I found out about Michael Myers and I watched his movies ever since. It has its problems, now with me being an adult in my late twenties and seeing the errors, but still lol 😅

Now that you’ve made it to this monstrosity, i’d like to note that H20 would’ve been the best way to end the entire franchise. The 2018 ones could’ve still came out because the 2018 reboot was fantastic, but Jamie Lee has publicly stated that the only reason she agreed to do H20 was if she was able to kill Micheal. Then they started changing things because as John Carpenter said in an interview a month ago, with the Halloween franchise, it’s always been about the money. So they decided to make another one after a ending that was very much cinematic, and Jamie asked to be killed in the opening, because she didn’t want to be apart of it. I won’t get into 2018 timeline Laurie until we cross that bridge, but I love 2018 Laurie, H20 Laurie as well, but that’s just because as they said in Scream (2022) Ambers quote at the end when they ATTEMPTED to kill Sydney was “You can’t have Halloween without Jamie Lee!” and I think that statement was valid 😂
I like JLC's acting in 2018, but they completely overdid it with how Laurie was written.

Laurie coming to grips with Micheal in H20 works because she was entering middle age at the time, when people have to reckon with their identity and their future. But an elderly Laurie ought to have moved on from Micheal. It just isn't plausible that for FORTY years it still dominates her. Micheal is too old too. He's about 60 years old in 2018. How many 60 year olds go on rampages?

H2018 Laurie doesn't work well, Michael chased her across the street, and she spent the next 40 years parked outside his prison cell with a gun, and weaponized her house in a battle station because she knew he only wanted her.
After watching Halloween Ends multiple times, I'm starting to appreciate Resurrection a lot more.

Also, the script and plot were written for another movie and they had already begin production on it- when the producers decided to make it into a Halloween movie. Thus the writers scrambled to work Michael into the script while still having the same deadline. It’s why this movie doesn’t feel like a Halloween movie cause Michael was an afterthought in another movie. I believe the original was exploring the home of a serial killer via webcast and a lot more of the psychology behind why people kill fueled the dialogue and that sounds like a good movie. They had to replace bulk of the dialogue to reflect Michael and you can still catch glimpses of the original words.

I heard that Rhymes was initially killed, but a test audience liked him so much, they rewrote several parts and the ending to incorporate his character as a survivor along with Sarah's. Wrong! Halloween: Resurrection, was always meant to be a Halloween movie from the get go.
I don't know where you got all of that BS from but as far as I know, initially Dimension Films wanted a Halloween movie where the killer wasn't Michael Myers but another separate character infected by the same evil as Myers. They also proposed doing another Season of The Witch style Halloween film but the fans refused it in a poll.

Jamie said in an interview they did H20 because its been 20 years they were all still in show business resserrction at the time was a cash grab and she only agreed to it if they killed her off in the opening and paid her well. The fact that she came back fit 3 movies and its her final halloween trilogy is so sad i watch bts footage that was released she was crying during an interview she produced these movies with john carpenter and he came back for the music sure Kills is divisive but truly its the best halloween movies that truly honored 1978.

Watching this made me realize this movie 20 YEARS OLD! I was 12 when I first watched this and at this point I already developed my love for this franchise 😅
In 2002, I worked at a movie theatre and had finally got in good with the projectionist and he let me screen prints when they arrived (usually on the monday before the friday it was released. The prints had to be screened first to make sure all the reels were good before opening day. It's all digital now but movies used to come in 4 or 5 reels that had to be cut and taped together to create one big massive semi-tire that was the whole movie. ANYWAYS, I was excited when we got HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION in (as I'm a massive HALLOWEEN fan) and then the fact that I could watch it early before the public was awesome. But wow, this is when I knew there was truly an odd man out on the HALLOWEENs...and it wasn't part III anymore! Lol. So yep this was the suckiest...well, until Rob's H2...just my opinion. Can't wait for your reactions on those! They are what they are...Zombie's OWN version of Michael Myers. The first one is pretty good in its own way. Plus, you'll get to see the return of Danielle Harris. Better hurry girl! HALLOWEEN ENDS is less than a month away! 🔪🎃

They filmed MULTIPLE endings for this one, and Freddie wasn't even originally the one to bust through and save Sarah. It was actually meant to be the guy she's been online chatting with. I think the plan was for international theatrical releases of this film to have different endings play, but the scene in the morgue ended up being the one every release got. Also, Nora's death scene was cut from the film. You can find it on here, I'm sure. Really think they should've kept it in. Pacing, schmacing. Audiences should've been able to see how she ended up killed instead of just having her body be found with no explanation. Edit: Also, the actress playing Sarah couldn't scream, so her character's screams were dubbed. UGH. It's like, "B*tch, you're supposed to scream! We can't have an actress who can't scream!" It's as if the Tingler was living in the actress's vertebrae (yes, I'm referencing that William Castle flick).
When you kill off the Scream Queen, you better have a solid film. When you don't, well...I think this illustrates it pretty well. It can only go up from here.
Attended the NYCC 2022 panel today with Jamie Lee Curtis and she said that she owes her entire life to Halloween. She legit teared up and everything. And that when she dies, she knows it'll say "Halloween actor Jamie Lee Curtis" and she's ok with this being her legacy and what she's known for ❤️

This really dies feel more like a Friday the 13th movie set in Haddonfield to me than it does a Halloween movie but I will say this movie grows on me everytime I watch it. I don't if it's because I enjoy it for stupidity or because I haven't enjoyed any Halloween movie that's been released after and this one at least has some replay value.
I just started watching, but you NEED to watch Katee Sackoff's reaction to this movie. She's gone on to MUCH bigger and better things. Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars... but she looks back at this movie and really breaks down the experience.

For *years* the fact that Michael Myers is up in CostCo buying up fresh fennel when he's eating every Fido in the neighborhood gets me every time.
Also: this film ruined a birthday pizza party back in the day. Had a huge JLC crush. You can imagine how things went after the 15 minute mark.

You got it right at the end, I was a kid when I saw it and loved it, and to this day even if I can see all the flaws, I still like it more than most people. The scene where Deckard guides Sara through the house is really good IMO, it's got some great shots of Michael with some really atmospheric lighting, and the kills felt meaner and scarier than in H20 at the time. And although those two scenes are ridiculous in concept, I enjoy the scenes where Sean Patrick Thomas and Busta Rhymes fight back against Michael. I like it when the killer isn't invincible and can be outsmarted and get his ass kicked. There's a lot of really stupid moments in that film, but there's a lot of stupid moments in H4, 5 and 6 as well, and what matters more to me is that the films have some standout moments that stick with you and a good Michael, and I think Resurrection had that. It's both very stupid and a highly entertaining watch.

When this first came out I was in high school. The previews gave me LIFE! I entered this movie expecting Jamie Lee Curtis to re-appear at the end of the film and save the characters. When she never appeared, after her death in the prologue, I was let down. But this film has so much cheesiness it gives campy life, somehow?

I'm so excited for your opinions on the rob zombie movies. People like to rip on them but considering its a 2 movie time line, they're completely harmless reinterpretation of the mythology.
Theyre especially harmless now that we got JLC back for the reboots and retconned the sister plot, so in a way, you can enjoy both ideas now! I love all halloween interpretations, but im worried RZ’s halloweens will be too trashy and graphic for alandas taste

I thought Season of the Witch was the worst, that could be because that stupid Silver Shamrock jingle got stuck in my head for like a week. Always felt like the Rob Zombie movies took something away from the concept, it was scarier when there was no discernable reason for a little kid to go murderous.
I personally hate the Rob Zombie movies with a fiery passion - his need to take the audience into the gutter and roll them around in crassness and the worst of humanity is just unnecessary and gross.
Resurrection is campy badness but I’ll take that over Zombie’s foulness any day!!

😂😂😂 i did say after your reaction to H20 that Halloween is my favourite movie franchise and i love all of the films except for Resurrection. I am so glad you agree. I recently found out that Busta Rhymes character was originally intended to die in this, but he insisted on re-writing most of his diologue and surviving. Obviously that is only one of the many problems of this film though lol. I also hate the cop out of it not being Michael who Laurie had decapitated.
For me this would gave been so much better if it was set fully in that mental hospital from the start of the film, similar to Halloween 2. I actually like the bit set there.
How do you feel about Rob Zombies? Lol. I have rewatched Resurrection more times than Zombie's. I also saw this visiting my friend in Florida when I was like 13 so there is nostalgia.
@@paulsmith8510 Rob zombies version of Micheal (when he’s an adult and doesn’t speak) is terrifying like his mask was so cool it looked exactly like the mask from the original but scars covering some of the mask. This version was truly brutal asf and he ran towards people. Like when Micheal walks it’s the standard but he’s scarier when he runs.

@@paulsmith8510 Ill take Rob Zombies movies over this one, personally. The characters are disgusting assholes but they are interesting. Rob Zombie wanted to really play up PTSD, violence, and nurture over nature part. I prefer H2 to his first one, it has its own identity and is more like a psychological drama.
@Paul Smith i have a few issues with both Zombie films, mostly towards the end of the films. I used to hate the second one but have warmed to it on re-watching, i'm trying not to give away spoilers, so i'll just say 'annoying scenes involving a white horse'.

John Tate should have been in that house for the show knowing he’d interact with the real Michael. Also, I don’t think he was framing the mental patient and moreso gifting him the knife, which is so…….sweet.

Your summing up at the end was priceless and had me cackling. I'm glad you had fun with this one, even though I think it is definitively agreed upon as the low point of the franchise, even with how divisive the next 2 Rob Zombie ones are. Speaking of which, there are 2 cuts available for each of his movies. For his Halloween remake, be advised that the director's cut has a pretty rough rape scene that is not present in the theatrical cut. The director's cut for his Halloween II is the way to go though, a much more complete movie all around. Will be very interested to hear your thoughts on them when we get there!
Girl. Once you’re done with Halloween, you should check out a movie called My Little Eye. It takes the “people in a house with cameras” /Big Brother-style horror and does it so much better. One of my hidden gems that I love

This movie was a pretty good … comedy, had me laughing the whole time. I couldn’t believe that it was made or that it was a Halloween movie.
Every time I hear people complain about Halloween Kills, I like to remind them that this movie exists, because as long as it does, there will never be a worse Halloween movie
And here we are, Halloween ends the worst movie of the franchise

I always disregard this film’s existence, even though I still find some enjoyment and lots of nostalgia in it. But with the original, 2, and H20 being my favorite storyline, this one’s gotta go! 🎃
