Nancy Thompson is one of my favorite final girls 💙. I think Nancy had a very triumphant arc. She started has the strong willed teen who tried saving her friends on her own and bested Krueger. Then we got to see her as an equally headstrong young adult, guiding the next kids and protecting them in the way her parents failed. And even though she died, she still bested Freddy with her last breath, and he wasn’t able to get her soul. She died a hero and passed her strong torch to the rest of the Dream Warriors. It was very bittersweet but well done.

I love that Nancy finally found some people who weren't totally useless and incapable of staying awake for even a few minutes to help her not die lol. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (kind of number 7, kind of it's own thing) is a great installment that doesn't have Nancy but does have Heather Langenkamp playing herself and she's pretty much as bad ass as Nancy and looks amazing in every shot as usual, lol.

Phillip's "Welcome to the snake pit" may be a reference to the 1948 movie The Snake Pit. They showed it in one of my abnormal psychology classes in college, and it's a semi-autobiographical account of a woman's time at an "insane" asylum. It showcased the barbaric treatment patients experienced back then, both in the methods of treatment and the mistreatment by staff members. Some patients are sent to "the snake pit", which is where the most hopeless cases are outcast and abandoned. One of my favorite lines is when the main character muses that an asylum would make even the sanest person go mad and trap them in a pit they could never climb out of. It actually resulted in many institutional reforms across the country at the time.

Heather Langenkamp starred in every Nightmare on Elm Street film that Wes Craven was involved in. The original, this film and New Nightmare (1994). Personally these three films are canon for me, they're the Freddy films that I rewatch to this day. Every other Freddy film I either didn't bother with or didn't enjoy enough to watch again. Craven was the true horror genius and, when he wasn't involved, the attempts to imitate his work didn't impress me.

Here's some suggestions : Freddy 4, Freddy 5. Don't watch the 6th. Other movies : Pet Sematary (the original), then Wes Craven's New Nightmare (there's an actor who did those two, I'll let you guess which one). Then Shocker, and Trick or Treat. Maximum Overdrive. The whole The Stand original TV film (many part, very long). The whole Friday the 13th series (except Jason goes to Manhattan, and Jason X), the Freddy Vs Jason (yes, they did). And the first few Hellraiser. Enjoy :) (p.s. Continue the good work, I really enjoy watching your reactions :) )
