- I finally had a chance to do some bass fishing with the Strike King Thunder Cricket. I set out in the Jon Boat to find some fish. I had to cycle through a few lures before I found what the fish wanted! Thanks for watching feeshin friends!

Nice find in the beginning always love finding lures. One time I found a really good spinnerbait hanging out of floating Bass half-rotten. Caught two good Bass with it then got it hung up.

Did alot of studying on the subject of the Jackhammer, Thudercricket, vs project Z & Elite series. This is what I in fact found. The heads being made from different metals is a major factor, no matter what the blade configuration is. Tungsten is a bleek sounding knock or click. The tighter the wiggle is another factor to take in due to what the fish may want. The OCB is used more than others here . I believe it has to do with the price. If price isn't a factor,...then the harder metal heads will draw bites faster. 2 months ago, around this area, people spent that $15 & began throwing Jack Hammer Chatterbaits everywhere. Fish got used to seeing them but as the water got more stained so sight wasn't a factor. We both know that they rely on the lateral line to feed & crawfish put off a clicking sound when they move. I've been using the Elite & Custom series more than any other. They work better for sight feeding, hands down. That tungsten heads are where the price lies so high. I see why the bite has been better lately now. I also noticed that the trailer can make a difference. I use Rage rails most of the time because I want that bait to stay in the strike zone longer. I use 1/2oz more than the others. But after using the ZMan Razor shad I now see why that trailer works like it does. Zakos work real good too! I spoke to one of the reps from ZMan last month and he said something I never considered. Shad move with a tight wiggle when fleeing. Bluegill move with less wiggle & more like power twitches. Hmmmm, could that be why we reel slowly then twitch twitch 🤔? I think so. Shad will twitch twitch some too,... when they are trying to get away without being noticed. We have what people call Tennessee shad around here. They exist in lakes without rivers or streams feeding in or out of the lakes. So you have to mix it up a bit. We also have Dusky lined shiners here for forage. That's a key element as well. I've been doing my homework for some time. It does pay off too. I think that's why I have the success I have. And btw,....that jumping beast is a rainbow trout about 8 -10 lbs. A state wildlife officer here I know says he's known about it and a few people have hooked it but nobody has landed it. Just thought I'd share that with you

First, Great job on Bass Geeks channel !!! My z man chatter bait had my back hurting today. I threw half the tackle box at them and got skunked. We are still in full summer time conditions here. Some guys did good on the white crappie, but man I can't wait for the water to cool down. The lake was like glass and screamed top water, nada.

Headlamps are awesome! Especially if you get one that has a zoom. You should try a thermacell for the mosquitos. May have to get me one of them there thunderin' crickets. Great video man!

Coast makes really good headlamps. What I found works really well if you fish at night alot is to get a headlamp that has a red light to it. Doesn't mess up your night vision👍

Just bought one of these today. Hopefully I can catch at least some dinks with it. I like the rage menace as a trailer because it can mimic a craw or a bluegill with just a little bit of proper placement.
Yeah I have recently purchased the Jackhammer in the Thunder cricket the one thing I found out about the thunder cricket was it seem to rise a little bit higher in the water column then the other chatterbaits. But here in Upstate New York the ChatterBait bite has been phenomenal as well no matter what you're catching on them it's always just fun to catch them
Yeah, I noticed that too. I usually go to a 1/2 oz when that happens but the 3/8 was all I had.

I just found the thunder cricket I was so sold on the Jackhammer 15 dollars a pop at 9 dollars for a thunder cricket you can’t beat it I like the falcon lake color with a falcon lake rage bug hooked sideways too look more like a fish great combo

I don't know about you guys, but we need some rain here bad. It hasn't rained more than 5 minutes since mid July and that has got our pond levels several feet below norm and the Oxygen depleted to dangerous levels. The fish just aren't in any condition to bite except for the ponds that are spring or well-water fed. We've been banging on drums and doing the dance so maybe relief is on the way.
We have had a ton of rain. Farmers are getting their 30,000lb combines stuck and a lot of the spots are flooded. Well see how the rest of the fall fishing goes!

Ive been talking to u before about my Curado DC reel. So, per the directions, ive tightened the tensioner knob to just where there is no horizontal play in the spool. Can u help me out and tell me how much more u have turned the tensioner knob on your DC past the point where there is no horizontal movement in the spool. 1/4 turn? 1/2 turn? Etc. Thank u buddy, I much appreciate your videos, your knowledge and your replies.
I don't know how much more. Just play around with it. That solved the issue with mine.

I have fished both Chatterbait and Thunder Cricket. I find that the CB brand comes thru grass much better and cleaner than the TC.
I got a night light head lamp. Has a red filter. Awesome if you need to tie on a lure and don't want to give yourself night blindness.

I would love to use a lip less crank but they just dont cast far.. I have 20 pound floro on my baitcaster and i adjust the tension but still dosent cast very far. I need help.
Drop down to 14 lb mono. That will cast a mile. Also bump down to a medium power rod. You'll be able to lad it better.

How do you like that slx dc reel? Ive been looking into buying one, but there aren't many well made or in depth reviews on them yet, compared to other reels at least.

Speaking of headlamps, get one with a red light. Doesn't mess with night vision and doesn't attract bugs near as bad as white light. I got a $12 ozark trail from walmart that's been great so far.

So side by side, which do you prefer? The thunder cricket or the jackhammer? They are both similar in price, but how different are they? I’m still using the Z-Man original, and custom because I can’t bring myself to spend too much on a single lure!
I'd say they are both close. Both felt good and have good components. I'm a big fan of the custom. Best bang for the buck I think.

Yeah that was some good fishing, I like that thunder cricket, I'm gonna try it, I use a Dan Force headlamp and it's great bright light burns for 8hrs. strait is USB rechargeable and waterproof 1200 kumwns 24.85 on Amazon
