Composed by Eveline Novakovic. Recreated by me. This was made possible by locating the original instrument samples from workstation keyboards and drum machines before they were put into the game and rebuilding the soundtrack from the ground up, applying some modern mixing techniques along the way to lift the veil of 16bit compression and create an updated listening experience. Aquatic Ambiance gave a feeling of peaceful, relaxing fun underwater. Water World evokes the feeling of being underwater, dealing with the dangers and trials of exploring the deep ocean. I love the contrast.
When you think about it, each game had a different take on water music. Lockjaw's Saga gave the feeling of exploring the unknown, and feeling tension under the depths.
This song gives me an uneasy feeling... Aquatic Ambiance is one of my favourite DKC songs because it's so relaxing and calm. Hearing this brings up fears of being deep underwater and not knowing if there's anything dangerous around while Aquatic Ambiance conjures thoughts of beautiful clear water with peaceful/friendly fish

@@zingerx2554 I always saw Stickerbush Symphony as the true water music of DKC2, because it was actually going to be an underwater music which makes... a lot of sense.
and amiss abyss envelops you within the beauty of the ocean's amazing sights and the sea creatures swimming all around you.
if "poison pond" from DKC1 had it's own unique theme instead of "aquatic ambience" this would be it
i always found that Aquatic Ambience didn't fit that level properly.
That level is a fuck and a half, I swear. There's fish coming at you with the speed of light at the end of the level, there's no way in humanity you're supposed to be able to dodge that shit after spotting it, it'll simply be too late. And don't get me started on the rotating wheels of death that sometimes come at you out of nowhere. This level had me by the balls as a kid and 20-odd years later it hasn't gotten much easier.
@@hongkongphooye2576 Nice to know I'm not alone. Even the best games have their hiccups and Poison Pond always felt like one to me. It's the one level in DKC1 that I don't have anything positive to say about.
@@hongkongphooye2576 yeah, and when you get enguard some parts don't fully load which can cost a Kong or a life.
Poision Pond is hands down THE hardest underwater level in all the 5 DKC games (including SNES and Returns games)
Beautifully unpleasant track.
It's tense, and desperate and even makes you feel lost and crushed by the immense ocean over you.
Nonetheless it's extremely beautiful
And so Water World comes out the abyss to be part of this magnificent soundtrack, Amazing work✨

I feel like these two should be reversed
My fav DCK3 track, haunting -sad theme ,that fits a lot the dark aquatic scenario
Sam, you are a sunray in Ghostly Grove, the gentle breeze in Bramble Blast, the sunset in Gangplank Galley, a shining diamond in Kannon's Klaim, sweet honey in Hornet Hole, a firewok of genius in Rickety Race, the secret blue balloon in Topsail Trouble... In other words, you make our world a better place!

I can easily make up similar examples for DKC 3 . It' is just that DKC 2 is the better known game and my personal favorite (and Sam's too, as far as I know, because of the music). In the next DKC 3 restoration (i think that there are a couple left), I will make DKC 3 examples

Aquatic Ambience is calm and chill, this brings more drama to the situation. A critical situation in the deepest ocean, I love this track although!
Atmosphere for this track was insane when dealing with some of the water levels they throw at you in DKC3. Awesome restoration!

I had waited a long time for this restoration
It's really interesting. The first DKC had the Iconic aquatic ambience which aims to give off a relaxing and wonderful vibe as you explore this liquid world of wonders. Then DKC 2 has Lockjaws saga with its exhilarating sense of danger. It keeps you on your toes while exciting you. You're courageously paddling through the flooded ship while constantly being startled by enemies. Then you get to DKC 3's water world. Country 1's water theme relaxes you. Country 2's water them excites you. Country 3's water theme is eery, downright ominous. I personally think its comparable to misty menace in some ways with how it discomfort you. You're traversing this underwater realm unnerved trying to find the exit where the more not much more uplifting cave music awaits.
Aquatic ambience is a very calming tune that makes the ocean out to be a wonderous place, then Lockjaws saga has a threatening vibe yet is exciting & Epic, then water world starts off with that one goosebump triggering note.
Its really interesting. The dkc trilogys water level themes start off uplifting, encouraging the player to press on, then gradually get more and more intimidating.

I know coral reefs indicate these levels are in relative shallows, but the music made me feel like I was the depth of a bleak, terrifying ocean trench

I cant believe this is what David Wise and Eveline Fischer had in their mind and because of the Snes soundcard we weren´t able to enjoy it at 100%, thank you so much Sam!
Good thing you can't believe that, because that didn't happen at all. Snes composers compose their games using the already comprossed samples. They don't first make a high quality track and then compress it for the snes.

Awesome, DKC 3 will hopefully be Finished soon and bam, the MSU-1 Versions of DKC 1, 2 and 3 will be completed. I'm not making the MSU-1 Versions but a user named NoNameSD is doing it which I gotta say is pretty cool to finally hear the soundtrack without the compression while playing the game.

No, She’s retired. She left composing for Rare because she was going to be a mom so decided to just raise her baby, I saw somewhere that her son played some Rare games and saw her name there and she got teary eyes cause the nostalgia remembering all those years
